  1. Adding spool tension helps with the noise lol but if I did that, the spool would be tight, and I can’t cast far. Anyway it’s a solution to the noise thanks! The 7.1 does it too? ??‍♂️ I was about to exchange to the 7.1 I know the fuego isn’t quiet at all, but the noise really bothers me. Hopefully it’s gone under load like @PhishLI said. This is very interesting. I kinda figured it has to do with the gear ratio because the 6.3 doesn’t have the noise. Can I say that higher speed reels are less durable because the teeth are smaller (I assume thinner)?
  2. I bought a brand new 8.1 fuego ct. This specific reel makes a bit of unpleasant grinding noise during slow retrieve. Other than that, it’s a good reel like all other Daiwas. I exchanged for another one, but it makes the same noise. I have a 6.3 fuego ct as well, and it doesn’t have that noise, (Gear noise, yes). I can’t pin point where the noise comes from. I am willing to try anything. Please let me know if have a possible solution. Thanks! link:https://youtube.com/shorts/ehs64fY7iZo?feature=share P.S I don’t want to return it because I can’t find a better reel for that price.
  3. Obviously I came across this thread couple of years later and found this rod holding method fascinating. And I had to ask how do you set the hook with the way you hold the rod? I can’t imagine I could perform a solid hook set this way.
  4. I have the same experience, even though it may not be true scientifically. The other day I was fishing a 1/8 oz texas rig on a 6’8 bass x m/xf with 20lb braid, I was able to feel the bait more than my 7’3 Tatula elite m/xf spinning rod (which is supposed to be more sensitive) on the same rig with 15lb braid. I would like to add that, all things being equal, a shorter rod should be more sensitive too.
  5. Thanks! My click plate was upside down. It clicks now. I didn’t do anything to the bearings. Like I said I followed the shimano reel maintenance video. They didn’t toil any bearings. What bearings should I oil?
  6. I have been servicing some of my reels recently. After I did my slx, I run into two issues. 1. the star drag doesn’t click anymore when I turn it to tighten and loosen the drag. 2. the reel isn’t as smooth and quiet as it was before. Has anyone experienced the same issues? I followed the below video to service the reel. I used the cal star drag grease on the gears. thank you for your input!
  7. Hi guys, I need some help here. My stradic started making a grinding noise, but only when it’s reeling in line. There is no noise when it free spins. I took the whole thing apart, cleaned and greased everything ( including the bail). However the problem still exists. Do you know what the cause may be.
  8. It’s says made in Thailand on the reel.
  9. The Fury is way too heavy. Thanks for the numbers.
  10. I have never done punching, and I was wondering if I would need a sensitivity rod for that. I am a bank fisherman. Is there a good rod for punching from the bank? I have a Daiwa Tatula elite 7’1 HF rod that I used for frogging, and I was wondering if it’s good for punching. The rod is rated up to 1.5oz. thanks!
  11. I have the same experience. My 6’8 Bass X MXF is more sensitive than my 6’10 Tatula MHF with a 1/8oz Texas rig. I can feel the bait hitting the bottom on the Bass X, but not the Tatula. Supposedly Tatula is a more sensitive rod. So I think the power of a rod plays a role in sensitivity.
  12. I was thinking about getting cals tan for casting and purple for spinning. Now I guess I will just get one. I live in California, so do you recommend cals tan or purple? Thanks!
  13. I know bait caster and spinning reels use different grease and oil. Can you share share what you use for your spinning reel? I have a shimano stradic and Daiwa ballistic that need some maintenance. thank you much!
  14. Similar to the tatula sv, but the fuego sv is a bit bigger and heavier. I also bought a tatula sv for $150 during Black Friday, and I like the tatula sv better. It’s the best reel for $150 if you could get the discount.
  15. Is the tatula ct smaller than the Fuego? More palmable?
  16. Is the tatula ct smaller than the Fuego? More palmable?
  17. Are the fuego ct and Tatula ct the same size in hand? Is the tatula ct more palmable ?
  18. The discount is 20%, correct?
  19. Is shimano reels included in the tw sale? I want to get a Curado dc.
  20. I think the OGs have Eva foam, while the new ones have the cork. which is denser than foam I believe.
  21. Never mind, I found the problem. It’s line that’s slipping on the spool, not the drag....
  22. I have a problem with the fuego Sv. I had my drag at max, but the reel still slips when I pull it with my hand, which is not possible with the fuego ct. anyone know what the problem is?
