  1. Any chance you can post the components used? I’ve been looking at making my own. I’ve been using the Berkley line spooling station and it’s seen better days. Would be a great winter project!
  2. BOOM……NRX+ 873 CRR Perfect for what you want to do
  3. My suggestion would be P-Line Tactical. P-Line is about $35 for 200 yards and is my personal favorite. Very, very abrasion resistant and strong. I use 17lb tactical on my setup because diameter-wise is similar to other brands 20lb. I’ve used this line all season and never once broke off on anything and have fished it around rocks, brush, etc. It’s a harder line in feel which seems to help with sensitivity as well.
  4. Hey folks - Got a new rod in last week and there is a small amount of residual epoxy on the outer ring. Any insight as to best method to remove?
  5. Not quite sure to be honest. I would think it would be purely based upon what specification is provided to DOYO from the customer (Abu, Lews, etc.) for what they want in each model? Frame material, gear material, components, physical attributes (colors, logo printing, etc.) Previous post mentioned some of these models (and any mfg. for that matter) could potentially have the same OOB issues due to lack of inventory turning. OP - Your like me; anything new gets broken down, inspected, fine tuned, to my personal standards. Really no different than anyone that might buy a stock, new vehicle. Some are fine with the stock model while some like to fine tune variables.
  6. Times are a changing! Companies turn to the social media platforms as it’s cheaper and reaches more people immediately without much overhead that could impact margins. “PRO STAFF” used to mean something…..Now it’s evolved into “PROmotional STAFF”
  7. Hey folks - trading in some odds and ends to *** and picking up subject rod. Going to use it for jigs and Texas rigs. Any current users here have any feedback on it? Good, bad, neutral?
  8. Any info on lure weights your throwing when this happens? Throwing with the wind or into it? Maybe putting too much tension on the line when spooling?
  9. Braid and frogs go together like peas and carrots. My favorite braid is the Pline TCB X Braid in 50lbs….give it a try….you might like it!
  10. That’s a super solid reel you have there. Thinking you have her super tight and am trying to force the distance with an abrupt and possibly jerky cast. Trying running two on/two off internal and the dial set to 6. Focus on a smooth release and follow through to target
  11. Gotta know when to walk away for a bit. I go through this at times and when that happens don’t force it. In fact, happened to me just last weekend. Thought it would be a bass orgy of a weekend since it was Father’s Day. Woke up Saturday morning lazy as can be. Just couldn’t get myself to get up and go. Fast forward to this morning one week later and I’m chomping at the bit to get going! Side story. Early 20’s (before wife and kids) was a die-hard golfer. Range every day after work and 36-72 every weekend. Spent tons on equipment, then worked part-time at two ranges/courses. As I got older (now very late 30’s, married, 4 kids) my interest died off. There were many times I didn’t feel like working or golfing but I pushed myself and practiced or played anyway. I started finding at the end of my shift at the range (worked Saturday and Sunday in addition to FT corp. gig during the week) instead of staying and hitting the range, I just wanted to get out of there. Now……I haven’t hit a range ball in over 3 years and played one round in the past 4. Have no desire to ever go back to it. My advice…..don’t force it…..balance it.
  12. Thanks for opening this can of worms Glenn! Great info here which I will be putting to use hopefully next season!
  13. Currently have a Spro 65 rigged up on my Falcon Cara (2021) Amistad. I also have the 7’6” Expert SoCal which is a heavy/mod fast. I use pline x-braid in either 50 or 65lb. I’ve had success with the Amistad but had a few fish that I lost from too quick of a set. Was thinking the SoCal might offer a little more forgiveness and that little extra delay due to the mod. fast tip…. Thoughts?
  14. Looks promising…..have something similar two blocks down from me in my neighborhood. I’m willing to bet many times you may be the only one there. Enjoy it!
  15. Anything that has Falcon and Amistad in the description of course! Champion XP 735 is another solid contender.
  16. That gunmetal looks much better than the cap with the gold accent IMO
  17. Haven’t used their customer service yet but just picked up a Super Duty LFS and Hypermag. Crazy distance and very pleased thus far. These are running alongside a fleet of four 2016 Met MGL’s and a lone 2020 Met MGL and so far keeping up nicely.
  18. I’ll second that. I’ve got the SoCal and Amistad in the Expert line. Also have the new Cara’s (Amistads and Deep Runner). I find myself grabbing the Experts more. Good action and really superb sensitivity. My only gripe........the little nub for the lower handle. It’s awkward.
  19. I had a Bantam and now am up to four Metaniums (2016 versions with brass gear sets). The Bantam was super solid but felt tiny to me. The Metaniums are slightly longer front to back and they just fit my hand better and felt more comfortable (to me).
  20. Thanks for the information.....ended up ordering a few of each direct from Shimano’s website to prevent any headaches
  21. Hey gang - Does anyone know screw sizes for Shimano p/n’s BNT4723, BNT4806, and BNT4565? I know I can order direct from Shimano but was curious if these are off the shelf screws I might be able to just pickup at a local hardware store. Thanks!
  22. I’m on the Falcon bandwagon...particularly fond of the Experts.
  23. After some time with the Cara’s as well as the newer Experts....I can wholeheartedly say I prefer the Experts. Previous poster is spot on with the description. The Cara’s felt like the volume was on 10 with everything....the Experts seemed more refined and polished from a “feel” perspective.
