maybe dont eat the "yolk"? hahahha i luckily do not like those things.
  2. it has a lanyard killswitch? i think he has his remote mounted on the boat. it was last time. i dont know. i should look into it. i like the guy.
  3. torqueedo or Newport to get your there. once there, you have to do some footwork to be the human spot lock. you still need the pedal drive. this is the most common configuration i see on kayaks. spot lock seem iffy to me. my friends set up has no kill switch if he swan dives out accidentally.
  4. dang, neighbor. i am a kayak basserman from Sonoma County. plenty of NorCal guys here. welcome.
  5. Everyone finds fulfillment differently. Some need a boat. Sine need a younger spouse Some need something else. Some need financial independence and zero debt. find your own fulfillment. The OP didn’t draw a line in the sand to begin with. None that I could see.
  6. Thanks for letting me chat about my troubles.
  7. I Picked a good contractor. He already got the permit. Fix is on Thursday. Utility company meeting him for the disconnect and then waiting the the call to reconnect later.
  8. well. electrician started an emergency permit process. yippee. the lug coming off the meter is bad and cooked my main breaker. only half the box is getting juice. he has to trench a new run from the Christy box to keep some separation from the nearby gas line run. this is gonna hurt. there goes the boat money savings.
  9. i'll take this one Waymont. we are talking about the Okishira jig prop-jig head. thumbsup. its a prop..not a spin. meets the spirit of this discussion.
  10. unless a boat is used to get to and from work, or something like that.. or is used for work, it would never be a need some people can afford "wants" easily. that is the beauty of it. you get to determine that for yourself. it has HUGE and benefitual entertainment value, but it is still a want. i think people can justify just about anything in their own minds. go for it. bottom line and bare minimum, you gotta use it. i see so many boats in storage. i had to use storage for 4 months and i became buds with the owner. he said most boats never move. that is criminal to the boat and your finances.
  11. as a kayaker, i can see the parallel. hahahha.. (i could make the arguement that only a Karen/Ken would make that comment, tho :D) i am more fit than most of the boaters i see around me. they always comment, "that looks exhausting". i'm glad bass boats cant "roll coal". i am effen courteous. i take note which way the boater is fishing and pass accordingly. maybe even get verbal confirmation.
  12. underground. i am working from home, waiting for the professinal electrician. i have questions for sure.
  13. not entirely. the shells are like kevlar thick and strong. i had to open up a new pair of channel locks to crack the shells. even on the smaller legs. they would shatter like shards of plaster. my hands got cut up. hahahha.. very yummy. sweeter than the Dungie crabs i am familiar with. but these are built like Panzer tanks.
  14. Electrician at 8:00 am tomorrow.
  15. love this story!!! along the same lines. there is a lady that manages a Boojie winery. she is an absolute beast. everyone avoids her. somehow she got my phone number. i was "yes maam, no maam". and i got a crew to clear out a drainage inlet in half an hour. she called me and asked me how did i get it done so fast. i replied, "i felt that this was very important for you, so i dropped everything" hahahhahah.. all the maintenence guys were so happy she was yelling in my ear, and not theirs, they helped me, and helped me quickly. she offered me a weekend room and a case of wine, which i politely and graciously decline. sadly she now has my number. dang it. but yea..i like your last sentence. i wasnt about to waste energy, when i could find her some help. i dont have to win all the arguements.
  16. i'm thinking tiny Spark Shad (i have them already). what body did you go with?
  17. i do recall some language in the owner's manual about possible damage to something if you go to tight on zero adjust. as you can tell, i didnt read much, or carefully. it is my loosest spool by a mile. but i have the brake set to "Granny" because i dont want no trouble. it has been fairly flawless.
  18. i went to the store to buy some yesterday. looking for an alt to the underspin. the store was closed for Easter. hahah...dang it.
  19. that would be the worse case. i am hoping my main breaker took a dump and one half of my breaker box is not energized..but again. i dont know what i am looking at.
  20. hahah.. great joke. but prices have been going up forever. as long as i have been alive. i imagine a gallon of gas when my god-kids are middle aged will be $20 or so. its nuts.
  21. clarification. one rod we already have? or we can only have one rod forever, so spend accordingly?
  22. it wasnt pastel colored anything for us. haha.. our lights have been flickering lately. we intitially thought it was the utility company doing work. one call to them they actually said, "normal. we have a crew in your neighborhood". we blew it off. two months later, they flickered again..then blinked out and back on. i texted my neighbors and it was only our home. rut-roh!! this was friday. the utility company came out fast and checked our home. they said the horrible words of, "our service is fine, the trouble is in your home". so we schedule an electrician for the earliest TUESDAY. we actually thought the utility pulling our smart-meter globe fixed something because nothing flickered anymore. easter morning? BZZZZZZ..half my house goes black. no breakers were tripped. odd stuff happened. i swear my heater blower spun backwards. i turn on my clothes dryer which is 240v so it pulls from both sides of breaker panel..and all the lights turned back on!! then off again. my wife and i poured some wine, and talked about our feelings. and laughed about stuff. we were asleep at 9:00 pm. our friidge stil has juice, so does our kitchen..most of it..and the master bath and bed. we are fine. annoyed and perplexed, but fine. i wish i knew more about house electrical. i just dont. i could pull an extension cord across my home and power my internet, but whatever.
  23. eating out is brutal. it is never less than $50 for the wife and i. fuel cost are up like a mofo..and they dont move the goods around the country on hope and dreams. it takes fuel. so...pretty easy for me to draw a line from point to point. and it just isnt the line cook. it is the waitstaff, cleaning staff, etc..
  24. i agree with this. i couldnt define a "Beginners" kayak if i needed to. i think beginners need the most stability to begin with. a 12 footer is almost perfect in my opinion. i think it sucks and is money wasted to buy a lesser boat only to realized it isnt even near the canvas required to fish effectively from. trust me, i you are not comfy, fishing sucks.
