  1. dang. you're 60 and still man-powering a kayak. kudos to you. I vote you keep doing it. shred the body, save the mind...etc. all that exercise is going in the "good" column. resistance exercise has to be good as we age. bone density, blood flow. maybe ease up on the water miles? 12 miles is a long distance in a kayak. I can do it, but this first trip out, I felt it. but I get stronger as the season progresses. that I consider a good sign
  2. i do this. two layers of cling wrap, and into zipper type bags with as much air as i can squeeze out. i must buy crap vacuum bags because i always seem to get leaks when the ice crystals stab holes. maybe if cling wrap first.
  3. I understand that. But it speaks to the general food handling.
  4. so gross!! i'.ve been cooking huge meals so i can have extras to feed some senior citizen ladies on my block. fun, and makes me feel good. i like it. but...one of the ladies has taken to cleaning out the deep freeze and bringing me meats. i cannot begin to describe the colors of some of this stuff. hahahh..grays, greens. i put it into my freezer and toss it all on garbage day. what a waste. i am so careful not to make anyone sick. it would kill me to food poison some senior. wow. she is kinda clueless, so i just fake it. i take it graciously and toss it. they never properly wrapped the stuff. makes me wonder how much food we waste.? i sometimes buy too much and have to regrettable toss it as well. i am not without sin on this one.
  5. wow. i have never wondered about the origin story of a knot.
  6. my brother flew to a lake to meet friends. i couldnt go. the target fish was hybrids from shore. full-on chest waders, waist deep into muddy water. they crushed them. big ones. it is my understanding the fish are sterile? they dont reproduce, and are stocked by Tx fish and game solely as a "fun fish". my brother texted me the entire time. mostly 5lb fish. he swears in his experience, they are the hardest fighting fish EVER. i have never hooked one. he said it feels like how he imagines a tuna to fight. haha. he said his hands get sore fighting. 2500 spinning gear, med-H rods. sounds like a blast and i may try to go next year. anyone? thoughts? hybrids?
  7. nope. i kinda think my tastes and the bass's taste vary wildly. i like brunettes..and the bass seem to like red heads (lately). not sure if the carpet needs to match the drapes. i thru a GP jig with a bright red trailer for practice about 500x this weekend and NADA.
  8. screw that guy!. sell it to a poor MOFO that goes by Darth-B. for a very attractive price. i thought the 4th dimension was the final frontier.
  9. This. I kinda fish it like a jig. without grass, I mean. Just let it sink and lift it and let it chatter, and then kill it and let it drop again.
  10. they say you never forget your first, which is total BS because my first was something like a 6" fish (which i way over celebrated). i forgot all about that fish. your's you might remember. congrats and welcome.
  11. i already miss the last guy. hahhaha
  12. This is a tackle question : I’m going to lake Texoma. The favorite bait (last year by a mile) is a top water walking bait. Or a wakebait like the surge Shad. In BONE color. I want to try something new. I think a Skinny Dipper weightless burned back may work. I’m also bring in. a Magdraft Freestyle. Both white colors. Anything else? I’m flying in light so I am minimum luggage. Trying to make smart choices.
  13. did that fish get released? what a stud!!
  14. i think the week after Easter will be approaching the 80's. but this week will be just another extension of our best winter ever. i had to scrape ice off my windshield this AM. in April that is a rare occurance.
  15. i think i like to have finesse options at the ready, but sometimes the bass just want it fast and hard. last weekend on our most pressured water, only reaction baits got any action at all. a squarebill hauling butt was the best option Saturday.
  16. i know a bass is over 3lbs by sight. the accuracy falls off from there..
  17. what? if it fits, just be more carefull pulling them out? i cram mine into a small truck interior. it is the ingress and egress that are the tip snapping points. i pay attention then.
  18. I forget you were a mod; to me, that meant you were a great one. Thx. enjoy the free time!
  19. anyone use these? i would buy them for my friend no problemo. the back racks that slip into the seams of the battery compartment.
  20. i know i didnt mean, "flesh-light". hahahhaha.. ever since i needed reading glasses and a rescue inhaler for my darn Asthma..yea. man bag.
  21. I dont fish tourneys...I may one day. what do you do with the rods? I might bring 7 rods on the CA Delta where punch and frog are strong contenders. I HATE the rod storage thing. they go into built in rod tubes on the passenger seat left. they essentially just lean there. how the fishing line can get SO TANGLED is a complete mystery. I set them there, neatly..and when I go to reach for one, they are basically stitched together into one mass. I dont think I could do it on purpose. is there a good option? I would pay and install them on my friends boat in a heartbeat. right now, I use rod sleeves and that is a poor option.
  22. badssssas. nice work. hahahhahahha..
  23. a CCI Velocitor .22 round is so d**n hot. it would be the more perfect .22LR defense round. it will pink mist a jackrabbit. (so i've heard.) my wife is fairly against guns, but she can shoot them fantastic. her brother calls her "Dead Eye". super funny. i dont push it with her. i know she can at least cover the back door if the junk hits the fan. hahahha.a..
  24. gah..i am about to build a new bridge across a slough in the California Delta. i will fish there when i can, since the contractor will probably need to clear a space at the banks to lower gear and stuff. off hours, that will be my kayak launch!! my biologists said it depends on the foundation. if they are driving piles the noise runs them off for a long time...or kills some. even drilled foundations make a mess.
  25. 50 rods? no way. if i could afford 50 rods, i would limit that to 10 super super good rods instead. Megabass p5 and gLoomis all the way. i dont even want 50 rods to clutter up my home. no thanks.
