  1. I dont usually have a bunch of treble baits on my kayak, ,but when I do - I use those Bait-sacks to keep things safe. not so much keeping me from getting poked, but a treble hook has an almost magic like gravitational pull to anything snaggy next to it..like a drop shot rig. it self ties better knots that I can ever dream of sometimes. bait sacks.
  2. I took my time responding. After some thought I figured I still don’t know what to say. Having lost my pops and watching my mom. I do know this : she wants to know you’re gonna be okay. easier said than done, I imagine. Being okay. best wishes bud.
  3. okay. mostly light-punch and pitching a bigger presentation into the thick stuff. thanks to a member here on the forum, I am dipping my toe into a better (than I am used to) rod. I am leaning towards the Daiwa Tatula FP (PF?). thinking 30lb braid to start. thoughts? I am in no hurry, since winter is coming on..I can wait. or Lews SP PRo?...I have a Curado 200 I can put into rotation, but what fun is that? just kidding..I think it would work. I kinda want to see what the shallow spool thing is all about.

i learned of his name by watching one of his daughters videos. that woman can shoot!!!
  5. it was 114 Degrees yesterday. i took a break from fishing and got some chores done early in the morning. cooking out on a lake, bobbing around in a kayak seemed like a bad idea. it is wild. i will get AC installed on my house this winter. i am crying UNCLE. maybe solar panels as well.
  6. yea. my Costa Glass taught me to use the case. this has translated to all of my glasses. i went and found all my various hard cases and put them back into use. if i had one complaint..the Costa Case might be the worse in the bunch. mine is so cramped. my glasses feel "Shoehorned" into place. no issues yet, and i hope the snug fit is by design. maybe to keep them from slapping around inside.
  7. i kinda want it. not to watch fish hit my baits. but to seriously scan for cover ahead of me. it would be wonderful to see brush piles, grass lines, etc. right now i have to go over it, and hit the brakes and back up. i cast towards my kayak "wake" hoping i judged the distance correctly. marginally successful , thusfar.
  8. Drop shot? My leader is long. I start off with the leader knot juuuuussst at the reel. It shortens as I clip things off to change up. I like seeing the knot near my finger so I can check on its integrity.
  9. I’m gonna go back. Maybe Friday. Redemption!
  10. Model paint? Sharpie? take it apart and spray paint it? All my chatter baits are nickel or gold color. Just wondering.
  11. To anyone reading this. This is a fantastic soap. You can use it for anything. My appliance repair guy takes that statement to heart. From shampoo to kitchen cleaner. He uses this soap. Either him or his wife is in remission, and he allows zero chemicals into the home. He used it to clean the condenser fan under my fridge. I asked about it and bought a bottle. Just a teaspoon in a spray bottle of water and it’s my spray cleaner. I use it to clean the kayak. I don’t want to drag chemicals into a lake. cleaning sunglasses is a good idea since they are on my face. I use Dawn soap now cuz it cuts sunscreen grease easily.
  12. I stopped using the provided microcloth for the most part. at the end of (fishing) day, I go to the kitchen sink. I take a tiny drop of dish soap in my fingers and rub the lens under running water. just a light trickle. then I air dry them. I might get the occasional water spot, but it is rare. if I do, that is when I use the microcloth. I feel I am confident there isn't a grain of sand or anything abrasive in that waterspot. I put them back into the case for the next fishing trip. I think it is working. none of my sunglasses are scratched now. I had an old German dude that sold me my binoculars suggest this for the lenses he sold me. crawling around on the mountains coat binoculars with abrasives. yesterday, mid day I gave myself a start. I thought I lost my sunglasses. I was wearing them. they are so clear, I thought I was looking at the world with bare-eyes. I was missing that tiny scratch I have on my daily pair of sunglasses. any tips?
  13. haha..brutal. SKUNKED!! it was hot and windy. much more wind than predicted. the grass is fading/dying off. Baitfish. they call them "silver-sides". looks like a type of shad to me. there are BILLIONS of them. when my bait hit the water the bait fish would splash out in response. moving my kayak thru the water and they would swarm out in front of me like a bunch of mini dolphins running in front of a tour boat. (you all have seen that video). I couldn't figure out ANY pattern. strangely enough, despite the holiday weekend; the lake appeared abandoned. I counted 6 bass boats and only a few wake boats. I talked to as many folks as I can..we all had a big question mark floating over our heads. I came home and grilled a steak. glass of wine. my lake choice for the day was not the best decision. haha..still had a fun. not mad about it at all.
  14. i only know about Bell Brewery because i went to my brewery and they were all moping around like their dog died. they lost to Bell that year. we have been #2 ever since.
  15. oh!! interesting. we dont have those here. thanks for the education.

    welcome aboard Gamer.
  17. what is a stake bed? sounds like a cool body of water once you figure them out.
  18. you all mentioned beer. funny you mention it. I live in Santa Rosa CA. home of Russian River Brewery. they were #1 rated forever. the undisputed champion of IPA. until they weren't. dethroned unceremoniously. by who? by a brewery from Michigan!!! (Bell Brewery?) I asked my wife to seek some out. she is way less interested than I am. boo!!! no beer for me in her luggage.
  19. $300? you're dangerously close to Megabass territory no? I'd skip a few discretionary lunches and buy a Whipsnake. (I'm staring at my coin jar right now!! - grow coin jar, grow!) edit. oh..gift card. never mind.
  20. I’m the opposite. I think it is at least good the kid is out on a bike. It’s the skinny mofos that pass while I’m wheezing up a hill that annoy me. At least give me a tow! to each their own. I was that fat kid.
  21. A guide helps. But not if you can’t cast accurately. my friend hired that Bobby guy. Guy associated with the Bobby’s perfect frog. Early into his fishing life. Not every cast was perfect. Bobby would say, “well now you went and S_ the bed”. After every bad casts. Haha. Pressure! time on the water is pretty crucial.
  22. Texas had the more infamous power outage IMHO. But CA is the more popular target. I had ties to both places. Family was in the dark in Texas. everyone I know in CA has solar panels. I’m holding out because I have a flat roof. Sucks. It’s getting better and better here. Progress. People learned.
