  1. What’s considered deep? 12 feet? More?
  2. I can’t get bit with the flatworm. I’ve tried and tried. I always give up and thread on my old fav and get some bass love. ( glad I didn’t misspell bass!)
  3. My thinking. The algae is like a big green raft. Wind and currents stack it into the corners. I went mid-lake ish and found relatively clear waters. There were globs of green balls floating around, but it wasn’t thick. I still wouldn’t dive in after a <$5 bait, but it wasn’t awful. Jet skiers and wake boarders were in the water. I kept eating to a bare minimum. I didn’t want to swallow any of it.
  4. I have an old box of stuff. Nothing fancy. Thinking I should bolster my cranks. any “must haves”? I got my PB (at the time ) on a giant ridiculous looking megabass deep diver in chartreuse and green. It looked like a Villain’s team colors in a Batman movie. But it got smoked! Fun.
  5. That’s an 8? My bigs of the summer. 7,6,and a five. Probably not in order
  6. A tiny bit of sarcasm. But it’s great looking like that. I like it!! I like it a lot. Congrats. I bet you love it. I fished next to a total stranger with that kayak yesterday. It looks super stable. He rode boat wakes with zero pucker. I turn towards the wave. He barely noted them.
  7. Had to look up Patriot edition. It’s kinda nice!!! not flashy at all.
  8. It was crowded with kayaks. At least where I was. I caught 10 bass. Decent ones. No wind, Smokey air, hot. Water temp was 76deg. I can’t wait until it cools down some.
  9. Thx. It’s fairly far for me. tomorrow, I’m off to Clearlake. Hehe. Kayak is already loaded up in truck.
  10. 7” Senkos. Yanamotos? I have 6” and I’m fishless with them. 4” and 5” for me.
  11. I know that Tom. This is just I case it leaks.
  12. I’m putting a handle on a net for kayak fishing. It’s a bday gift for a bud. I made one before for myself and I used spray foam. It was a mess. Dripping everywhere, sections not solidifying (needs air). I got a subpar product for myself. Plus the can leftovers are a total loss when the spray tube solidified. There had to be a better way. I thought I would stuff that backer rod foam you stuff into cracks before sealing with silicon. Then it hit me. We just got a few new computers at the office and I was staring at the packaging foam. It hit me. Cookie cut sections and stuff them in. I used the handle itself. An aluminum pipe. It worked beautifully. im letting the sealing silicon setup ( I used leftover bathroom silicon because I’m cheap. At least it won’t mildew :)), and wait on the my wrapping tape thats to ship to me. I like to seal out all water intrusion spots to prevent zebra mussels from spreading in the water in the handle. Futile I imagine. it will float for sure. The net that is. In case you’re working on a similar project.
  13. The place is a maze. A few crazy long kayak runs, w a few turns and you can get lost. But we kept notes on where we were and I tracked us with two GPS units. ( 3 if I count my watch :)). it’s tidal so it flows like a river sometimes. Other times it’s flat calm. we found the bass nursery easily. Tiny voracious bass would hit our baits with careless abandon. I caught my tiniest bass yesterday. It was 5” long and full of spit and vinegar. Hehe. At the high tide mark I went deep and found a few giants. I had a bass make a run hard and snap my leader. I kick myself for not redoing my knots or checking for nicks. I picked up 3 3-lbs bass( in five or six casts). I called my friend over and he got a four. The tide calmed down and so did the bite. It was that quick. the place is epic. I need to fish it more often to learn. I need to learn what the bass do when the water isn’t ripping. But found a great spot yesterday. I bet there are hundreds of launch spots there. Hundreds. The place is wild.
  14. The old school ones that were realistically colored to look like Shad? I have taken so many white bass with those. The new ones seem just like Shad profile paddle tails.
  15. Kinda breezy. But I’m gonna hit a new delta spot tomorrow.
  16. I use NOAA. So I’m the weatherman:) I do like me some Mexican channel weather women tho.
  17. I had a boat in my late teens. I was told then a marine battery is physically more robust to handle the vibrations and hard knocks. I believed them then.
  18. Yes it will. im not a motor guy yet. I still love the simplicity of it all. Battery and motor spits in the face of simplicity. If I go that route, I’m getting a new kayak first. One with power pole inserts.
  19. With our wildfire smoke and the wind events this spring. 5 hours. By 1:00pm it’s too windy for kayak fishing. now, no wind but smoke. My eyes can’t take much more than four hours. good weather and no smoke, I like 8 hour days. It’s the longest I can go, barely eating.
  20. Great boat bud. we need to fish together.
  21. I has major conflicts with my friends powerPro on the back of his boat. I adapted by casting back handed and flipping. it s worked.
  22. Three fish. Brutal. My eyes are itchy. Haha. fishing was tough but I managed three fish. All were just shy of three pounders. They felt huge the way they fought.
  23. Kinda smoky, but I’m gonna try for a shorter duration. Have not been on the water for two weeks. ill reports back later. Good morning and great luck.
