  1. I would go with you. I’m new as well. It’s tough fishing now, but should get better. Soon
  2. I think you just called me a knucklehead? When I did use braid I could feel the line dug in when I manually pulled it from the reel. it’s why I’m asking questions.
  3. My SW has no energy. Shelves are bare, workers are not enthusiastic at all. I hope they make it.
  4. I give up. 2020 has been a pain. I miss my friends and the laughs. I’m calling “uncle “ and not cooking. I did a prime rib for thanksgiving and it was okay. Not the same without a crowd. Next year I’m firing with both barrels. Christmas? A frozen lasagna, salad, and copious amounts of wine. Now I should have time to paddle out and cast for deep fish. let’s eat. Merry Christmas folks. Pre-spawn is coming!
  5. I’m gonna slow roll my fishing thru the winter. I think it will pick up soon. Right now, I just enjoy being out in my kayak “practicing my casts”. Catching a fish is just the huge bonus.
  6. Exactly. Some days you can point out a bass to me and I still won’t catch it.
  7. Welcome. I need to try that lake.
  8. My visit to Clearlake (my third visit) a couple of kayak fisherman flat out lied to me. They told me to cast at the banks. Ugh, sure. Thanks. I did my thing and ended my skunk-streak on that lake I pulled out 9 good bass. I was so happy and paddled back puffed up like peacock. I fished hard and wasted a lot of time doing the wrong thing, thinking I was right until I figured out a pattern. I had guys on bass boats asking me for advice. I told the truth. Clearlake isn’t my lake
  9. Thanks. I’m running 10LB braid on my dropshot if I Remember correctly
  10. I went to TW to buy another Dobyns Fury. Wow. I just bought a 704 Sierra instead. Thx. I think I actually saved $1. Hear that? That me slapping my forehead. Duh. shrewd bud, shrewd..
  11. I only know one. Brian Latimer. I like his channel. I don’t watch tournaments. So unexciting to me. Like watching golf.
  12. What about a homogeneous glop of silicon? You can peel it off easily of each component if you care to pull the plug.
  13. I tried 20lb braid before and it did bite into spool like I was warned against? 30? Can I go with 30? I gave away a fish finderto a guy. The same guy ended up trying to sell a reel and gave it to me when I offered to buy it. The reel is slower. 6.something:1. It’s an Abu Revo SX. It has what i would guess is 10 lb mono on it. I almost broke a van window casting my practice plug. It went way further than expected. It is smooth and appears unused. I tried it on my Dobyns Fury 703 and it whips the plug like dream. It out casted the SLX DC that rides the same rod. im thinking of pairing it with a “all purpose” Med-Hvy to pull chatterbaits and swim-baits. I’m thinking of the lightest braid I can get away with with a flouro top shot. I don’t normally fish crank baits. I do fish the occasional jerk bait. I am just a fish for fun kayak guy. I only have one duty specific setup and that’s my punch rod. The rest are multi-taskers. I like multi-taskers.
  14. Ohhhh good for you! Haha. I’ll get there. Hell I’m about to try this morning. Jig at least.
  15. Can I rig up a heavier setup like this.? 12lb flouro? 0.5 oz weight? More traditional c-rig like?
  16. I rigged up last night. Being winter, I rigged up an UL c-rig. I used a tiny barrel swivel. I’ll toss it around for panfish if I get bored or the bass are reluctant. got me thinking. (O-0h!). What if I thread a sinker and instead of tying on a swivel, I thread on a bobber stop (or two if the sinker is heavy)and then a hook at the end? That way I can adjust how long my “leader” is and I reduce the knot ties! (Time save) Is the swivel crucial to the c-rig?
  17. Group of kayakers. I put in my vote of Lake Comanche or New Melones, but I got vetoed. The delta it is! We are all meeting for the first time. Looking for new friends. I’ll hit up a mother Lode lake the following week. Prob solo. man, the Delta is gonna be a grind. Any super secret tricks? Launching t sugar barge. I’m gonna hit the docks I think.
  18. Jam them into a warm crotch. Preferably your own welcome aboard friend.
  19. I wish my FF was bigger. But i agonized about it and got the Hook Reveal 5. why? Real estate. It’s for my kayak. And I needed to consider safety. I practiced repeatedly climbing back into my boat. A small FF allowed me the space to shimmy up between it and my seat. Bigger was problematic.
  20. I like the small hooks on a Ned. It requires very little hook set. I think the fish just turning with the bait will pin the needle hook. I sometimes “roll my own”. I’ll rig it Texas style with a worm sinker pegged. It fishes just like a Ned head. I can work it thru weeds. It kills at a local bank fishing lake near me. I think a 3/0 would work but it will sink your Ned somewhat from the extra weight and you’re gonna have to set that hook harder. But nothing more fun than an enthusiastic hook set. please keep us posted.
  21. My PB was on a crank bait. I was just cranking, bored. Haha. on a kayak, a big crank bait will pull my kayak out of position. Something I need to learn how to adjust to.
  22. Jig frog punchbait but I just started fishing 5 months ago.
