  1. Either a jerkbait or a paddle tail swimbait for me.
  2. Welcome to the site!
  3. I’d probably just get the Shimano Curado DC, since my most expensive reel is a Black Max.
  4. I didn’t weigh them(I haven’t bought a working scale yet ofc) but the Bass was around 4 1/2 and the pike weighed around 5 or 6 pounds.
  5. This weekend I went to our family’s condo in Ludington! It wasn’t the best fishing weekend at the Pere Marquette lake, but today at the state park made up for it! I caught my PB Northern Pike, my tied for PB bass, and my first smallmouth in 3 months! Hooked a big smallmouth but I didn’t realize that my Ned rig was in his mouth because I was retying my ultralight.:( But still a great day of fishing! All except the Smallmouth were caught on my perch colored deep-diving Shadow Rap!
  6. Southern Michigan is 2 temperatures: either freezing cold or blistering hot!
  7. Yeah it was the Tacoma Narrows bridge in Washington
  8. Sometimes it does this…(Just Kidding!)
  9. Michigan is a great state to me! And many others!
  10. The Mackinac Bridge, or the Mighty Mac, is the 3rd longest suspension bridge in the U.S. It connects the Lower Peninsula of Michigan with the Upper peninsula of Michigan. It is 26,372 feet long and 155 feet from the water. A car was blown off the bridge in the 80s, but they close the bridge when the wind is high. I’ve went across it a few times, and it’s big! And I only got one fish today on the Ned rig, although I missed many more on 3 lures including the Ned rig.
  11. Last time I went kayaking with my friends, they hadn’t used their kayaks in a year and they are pretty scared of spiders. We hosed those kayaks down for at least 20 minutes!
  12. I have been over it a couple of times, and it doesn’t scare me too much unless I’m in the very middle looking down. Then I realize how big the drop is. Normally I’m fine though!
  13. My Fenwick Eagle/Black Max, St. Croix Bass X/ Regal LT, and my Daiwa Aird X/ Crossfire have served me well so far!
  14. A Strike King 2.5 Wakebait, which caught my PB and some more fish, so it made me a believer in the wakebait!
  15. Not done fishing yet today, but I got this big bass at a new spot on a beaver pond off my grandma’s lake! I’d say around 4 pounds, but I had no scale because I only brought 2 poles and my pliers because I was wading. The pic makes it look small! Update: I caught some more today! And my first chatterbait fish ever!
  16. This PB rock bass that I caught in lake maxincuckee in 2019 fought pretty hard!
  17. It is a really good reel for the price! I got mine 2 years ago, and it handles Bass well! I personally like how the drag is very good for only 50 dollars. Good reel!
  18. It is very nice! Had it for 2 years, but I just wanna see what a reel such as an SLX compares to it.
  19. Welcome to the site!
  20. My family and I own a condo in Ludington, and it is near a lake called Pere Marquette lake. I am stuck from the shore, and there is this big, Lake Michigan style pier that goes into the lake. There is some rocks by the side of the pier that runs all the way to a steep channel that goes into Lake Michigan. And on the other side there is a marina that is only fish able on one side of the pier, and another marina off of the main lake that is around 10 feet deep. I’ve heard there is good Smallmouth fishing there, but I’ve never gotten one there in a year, so does anyone have and bait recommendations and/ or strategies? And also the water at the end of the pier is like ~20 feet. The forage are crawfish, Shad, alewives, perch, and some species of shiner. Thanks!
  21. Yeah, I’m lucky enough to have D&R as a in-person tackle shop in Kalamazoo, MI! When I snapped my St. Croix Triumph, they were very helpful! And I need to upgrade my Black Max soon, so I’ll look at this thread more.
  22. In my opinion D&R is better in-store than online. In-store has a better selection than online in my experience when I got there in Kalamazoo. Great store tho!
