thanks for the replies everyone. The handle I want to upgrade as well. Any suggestions on handles? I’ll look into the drag star. Make it look less dated as suggested. I have some carbontex washers on the way and ordered some ceramic bearings. I’ll see how the stock spool does before upgrading. Can’t wait to test this reel out once the ice clears up here. Thinking of slapping it on a Dobyns Champion 734c OR a 7’3 medium heavy evergreen combat stick. ??

The new daiwas come dry out of the box. I always get them serviced as soon as I buy them. It’s night and day.

Hey everyone. Just acquired a new to me TD Zillion 100SHA on trade. Appears to be in good condition and I plan to put it into rotation this year. For those that have these reels, what are some upgrades that you’d recommend? So far I’ve ordered a set of carbontex drag washers for the reel. i know I can google up upgrades but I figured I’d bring this up again to see what upgrades were actually worth it in the end and with use over time. (If that makes sense??) thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I find the Lunkerhunt Compact frogs to be the perfect size for big and small bass. The skirts are the perfect length. The hooks are very sharp and the frogs just get inhaled. The plastic is soft but I still use the frogs until the body is ripped off. I have one still going strong after 60+ fish. I just have to readjust the frog after every catch. ? the Scum Frog launch series are fantastic as well. ??

I can now add a Champion 734C to this list. Haven’t used it yet but I’m trying to find the perfect reel to slap on it.

I own both. I’ve only fished the slx mgl a was really impressed. It palms very well, casts well and its smooth. I haven’t used the curado mgl yet but in terms of feel and comfort I prefer holding the slx over the curado.

Does the reel itself feel like a plastic that’s smooth? Always curious about the chronarch mgl

I’ve used their warranty many times in Canada. Really quick to answer the phone and ship out a replacement. The first time I broke a rod by accident. They asked for a copy of the receipt and pictures. Then they shipped me out a replacement rod of the same line up and let me pic a different model in that line up. I shipped the broken rod back in the tube they supplied and they covered shipping both ways. ive also called them and replaced older model rods or well used rods with broken guides. They charge you 50% of the MSRP and charge $15 shipping. They’ll let you pick any model in that line up that you’re upgrade and you just send back the old model with the tube the new one comes in. Their warranty has been quick and flawless on all accounts

Loving my Evergreen combat stick for crankbaits & blades jigs. Get the job done just right. My previous chatterbait rod was the Okuma TCS Scott Martin Frog/Swimbait rod. Never missed a chatterbait bite with that rod. ??

i remember going to a local shop years ago to look at a SC tournament legend and the guy behind the counter tried to talk it up by whipping the tip around and then he put the rod tip on the ground to show me the action. Not only did he scrap the guides across the tile but he snapped the rod in half. LoL. Now what goes on in people’s mind? Didn’t realize were catching tile fish? Right after that he talked up the warranty and asked if I still wanted to buy one. LoL.

True story. Apparently the reels have no value these days unless they have a box. At least it’s like that out here. Guess boxes catch fish too? ??‍♂️ on a side note I’m not directing this comment towards the OP just based on the comment posted and my experiences locally with boxes and no boxes sales.

I was looking for a 6’10 Medium casting either zodias or poison adrena and then came across this. Saved me a bunch of coin. Just curious what I was getting myself into. Regardless I’ll still fish it since everyone’s experience from rod to rod is different.

I checked out the reviews on TW. I was hoping to get some insight from board members that actually fished it a bunch of times and didn’t add a review after unboxing it or tossing a lure on it once. Was wondering what it’s comparable to with other rods. I ended up picking one up as an impulse buy because it was 50% off plus an additional 10% off and then an extra $20 off from a loyalty program. I won’t be able to actually use it until June. ??‍♂️. Guess I’ll find out then. LoL

Just looking for some real world insight on the Muse Black line up of rods from 13 Fishing. Not much info on them that I can find and any reviews from sites like amazon are really hard to trust. I’ve had my peepers on this line up for a bit. Curious on giving them a try. I used a defy black awhile ago and first hook set was its last. I hope this isn’t the case with the Muse Black. Any and all feedback is appreciated.
