  1. I actually prefer the older model over the newer model. You should give it a go. You won’t be disappointed. I got rid of my newer model in favor of the old ones.
  2. I use a Stradic fl 2500 on my victory 73mxf. Love it. They pair up well. Also use a 3000 on an evergreen 7’1MH and a 1000 on st croix panfish series 6’9 UL. ??
  3. The brakes lock on that spool. You can see the 2 top ones are locked in and one bottom. The little lip at the end on the brake locks under the little lip on the spool.
  4. Why not one of the new Daiwa tatula XT rods?
  5. The Okuma TCS frog/swimbait rod is a really nice frog rod. I just picked up the Megabass Levante perfect pitch for frogs his year and I’m really impressed with it.
  6. Good selection of rods. That Okuma TCS frog rod is amazing. I feel it can do so much and I’ve used it for so much. Makes an excellent chatterbait rod. It’s my fav rod. Always curious on the new version but keep hesitating to pull the trigger. That Scott Martin version is just perfect. Good luck on your hunt for a new rod.
  7. I’d be surprised if that were true. At least up in Canada their customer service is A+.
  8. Place in your here in Canada. Buy any 2 rods and 3rd is free. I was just eyeing only the victory series. I unfortunately won’t be home from work in time to take advantage of this in store sale. ? Nice!
  9. I was thinking of 7’1 MH as an all round rod. I was eyeing the 7’4 H for frogs and thicker stuff and then a spinning just to have another. Probably the 6’10 ML. I don’t need these rods just want to get them so try out the victory casting line. But with a deal of buy 2 and get 1 free. I might as well take advantage. so essentially that’s why I was asking for opinions on the top must get. for cranking I don’t do that too much. I have the evergreen jackhammer rod for chatterbaits and crankbaits that I enjoy a lot.
  10. Hey everyone. I’m thinking I’m going to pick up a few st croix victory rods. Im looking at 2 casting and 1 spinning. For those that have time with them. What are the top must have rods in casting and spinning? One I was eyeing was the 7’1 MH (the grunt) and I already have the 7’3 MXF spinning. thanks for all the input and have a great day.
  11. That looks fantastic. I have the 5.5 and I love that reel. It’s a joy to fish. I use it more than my zillion g. ??‍♂️
  12. Anyone try the ALX Toadface for frogging??
  13. It was built by the hands of god and brought down to earth by angels. Once you get one in your hand. You’ll understand. Not winning this one. Just give in and feel the greatness of the new zillion.
  14. Yeah. Sounds about right. I liked the Gen 3 stx and the Gen 4 SX is good. I really liked the MGX2 as well.
  15. Gen 4 STX and Premier. Of the 2 of each I had. Did not like. I just got unlucky probably.
  16. I had one. It was bad. Returned it for another. Just the same. Returned that. I don’t know what it is about the STX but it wasn’t a good reel. I had a premier as well and same thing. But the X, S and SX I enjoyed a lot. Hmmm….
  17. I’ve found the Okuma TCS Scott Martin 7’3 Heavy Frog/Swimbait rod to be amazing for chatterbaits. I haven’t tried the newest version that doesn’t have Scott martins name on it but I imagine it’s just as great. I also second the 7’2 MH evergreen combat stick. Fantastic rod!
  18. Why not get a 7’ MH Curado rod? I believe they’re around the $170 price range. I’ve heard great things about them as well. ??
  19. Those TD Zillion reels are just something special. ??
  20. Slx MGL with 40-50lbs braid would do just fine for frogging. And it would match your rod as well.
