  1. When I was a kid I used to wade for clams, then use then after cutting them up, for gills. The gills loved em!! Something I might suggest, buy a loaf of bread, make you some breadballs, the carp love em, and if it works out soak some breadballs in the clams!
  2. I have only caught a few very small tigers in my youth. However, I learned early on to use a fish basket while pan fishing rather than a stringer.....pulled up several fishheads.
  3. I think what you witnessed was a rarely seen phenomenon. The blue angels carp team. There aquatic formations are unparralelled!
  4. One of my favorite after storm tactics is to fish the mud lines. I look for area where the muddy meets the clear. I cast into the muddy and retrieve to the clear. Bass often can be found in ambush just inside the clear water. Since I live in avidville, topwaters are my #1 for this. Followed by flukes or sluggos. Had some awesome times right after the storm!
  5. There is a lake here that sounds very similar. Pay attention to weed density as well. Some days I find fish in the heavy cover, some days the thinner stuff. On lakes that have weeds all the way around, look for secondary cover/structure. A tree hanging low, a few stumps sticking out, a small rocck pile. These things can be huge finds. Also try using a search bait. Spinner bait etc. If you find an area where you take hits, slow down and fish them with a worm, fluke, tube, or something of that nature. Good Luck!
  6. I agree, more rod, heavy line. Reel down to em, flip the wrist to set the hook, lift the rod to pull there head out and surf em in!
  7. I am glad to see many of my fellow Floridians endorse concealed carry. I maybe biased, I teach a ccw course here in Florida. There are many laws here that actually side with the legal carrier. I am also advocate of judicious use. Meaning I am not of the blast first ask questions later faction. I have never had to use a sidearm in civilian life, the same is untrue of my military career. Frankly I feel that all 50 should in fact allow honest law abiding citizens to carry, however, I feel personally that there needs to be training, and to some extent it needs to be advanced. Im not talking about granny grunt who has a hand gun in her night stand. Im talking about billy joe bob jimmy who feels the need to carry one every place, and make d**n sure everyone knows he has one. I feel that someone who carries legally should in fact be held accountable if used improperly. No different than driving a car. P_Rock, I know Mr. Ayoob personally. He is also the developer of the Maddanock pr-24, that funny little night stick with the handle off the side. I have shot againt him in target matches as well as one on one combat matches using marker ammo. He is devistating, and bar NONE the best I have ever seen. When it comes to handgunning, If he told me the sun wouldnt rise tomorrow, Id stock up on batteries. Regards, Recon
  8. Beautiful fish....im going to defect lol!!!
  9. I have a bow, but I dont hunt. I just target shoot with it. not competition, just for fun. I shoot a stalker.
  10. Wow first time I have ever seen this. Its pretty cool, I dont know if the graph is all that great, but, the weather info is awesome.
  11. Sorry to hear about the finger. Making the statement about fishing the private lake, then snagin a big girl, and associating that with your injury shows your conscience got the best of ya. Lesson learned. Another lesson for future reference. pickerel are of the pike family, of which I have caught a ton of when living up north. Applying pressure to the pickerels eyes, causes the mouth to fall open, and for some reason stops them from floppin. Just a tip from a indian guide we met in canada, and it works. I unhooked alot of these toothy critters without pliers....but still a good idea to have em. Recon
  12. I remember the day when pro players of all sports were roll models. Now days I am glad my kids arent into sports, its sad really.
  13. An oldie but a goodie!
  14. Photography....I often head to the woods to shoot deer, bear, and turkeys, with a camera. sometimes I am out all day and come back with a full memory card, and have even hit a triple once getting all 3 in the same day. I also ride 4 wheelers, trail cruising, not racing.
  15. Muddy be careful with that weapon, it maybe considered cruel and unusual!!! hehehehe

Fishbear, First off if there is anything I can do please do not hesitate to pm me, I would be glad to send you my phone number. Secondly, Panic/Anxiety attacks are no joke at all, I know, I have experienced some whoppers first hand. Not having any insurance is no laughing matter either. Try to identify what you were thinking about just prior to your episodes, try to identify the trigger, if in your case that can be done. There are several relaxation techniques you can use as well, as possibly a stop gap measure until you can see a doc, do a bit of research on it and I think you will find something that works. My next suggestion may seem over the top for some, and if that is the case I do apologize. If you know anyone who is being treated for a stress disorder, they maybe taking xanax. Xanax is what the docs put me on for my ptsd, unless you have some allergies these could be bennificial to you. While I am NOT condoning any type of recreational use, sometimes you just gotta do what ya gotta do, it may help you get by until your insurance kicks in. Try getting plenty of rest, fatigue is a huge ccontributo to anxiety and stress. If you want to talk more privatly feel free to pm me, I am here for you buddy. as I am sure we all are!! Recon
  17. Ok with the things I am reading here, I felt compelled to post this, about carrying a weapon. Something to remember and to think about. A weapon as carried by most of you is for protection, to get you out of a bad situation. The key there is OUT OF A BAD SITUATION. A fight, on any level requires that two or more persons have the intent to do harm to one another, for whatever motive. Example: He is trying to rob me, and I am trying to stop him. The assailant has the will to harm you because he wants to Rob you, You have the desire to harm him to stop him. Per our example. The only thing it takes to end that fight is for one of the parties to lose the will to fight. A weapon carried for self defense is just that. Defensive, a part of your exit strategy. Sometimes the sight of a weapon will be enough to make an assailant decide to seek easier prey, but not always. Be ready to use the d**n thing if you have to unholster it. I am not a proponent of the dont pull it unless you are going to fire it theory. I said BE READY. If simply brandishing the weapon causes the attacker a moment of pause, and he tries to retreat, let him. You are not Dirty Harry, you are simply removing yourself from a bad situation. Do not attempt to apprehend him, just get the hell out of dodge. Attempting to apprehend him puts him on the defensive, and may cause him to escalate the situation as a means of escape, in effect you have become the attacker. If he tries to retreat, let him! His will to fight is gone, and you have come away intact. My serious hope here is that none of you ever have to use a weapon. It is not a pleasant thing. Somethings you can to to deter. Be aware of your surroundings, if someone approaches you look them in the eye, and greet them in a cheery fashion. This shows you are not afraid, and exudes self confidence, that alone can cause someone to choose a "softer target". I wish all of you well. Recon
  18. Avid, I would agree in some cases, carrying a weapon could escalate a situation. Case in point, what if the man you met in the woods was worried about YOU? Maybe he was coming forward to size you up, because he saw you as a potential threat? A weapon carried by either of you, or both, and both precieving the other as a threat could have turned ugly. Makes a good point for all of us who do carry, do not be foolish in brandishing, could escalate something that would have remained dormant. Carrying a weapon does not make one tough, nor does it make you super human, it just makes you protected, and the best protection is no confrontation at all.

when the big hand touches the little hand......ugh
  20. I also carry at times, and unfortunatly, more often now. A few years ago as my Mom and I were leaving a mall we were approached by two guys. They asked politley for a few bucks, and frankly looked like they needed it. I opened my jacket to get out my wallet, and made sure they could see my holstered pistol. I gave them a 5 they thanked us and moved on. I often wondered. I have a colt defender in .45 acp. like the old saying goes better to have and not need then need and not have. Recon
  21. That product is called Great Foam and will do the job as well. If you can get to the spot from the inside, great foam will seal it without having to dig from the outside. % minutes to spray it in....and your on the water fishin!! Recon
  22. Reading D-Day by Stephen Ambrose....Kinda puts the invasion is scale perspective. To relate the scale of this invasion, imagine moving every man woman and child from the cities of Green Bay, Racine, and Kenosha Wisconsin, all of their vehicles, all the medical support staff to take care of them and their equipment, all of the cooks to feed them as well as thier equipment and food, fuel for all the vehicles, massive ammounts of ammo, etc etc. across lake michigan, over night!! Incredible feat even in todays day and age.
  23. oOH I gotcha. There is a product called feno-seal (sp?) Home depot usually has it is a eurothane based sealant that comes in a tube like caulk, I use it all the time to seal areas just like you described and it works great. Good luck!
  24. Whoa avid.....and there wasnt even any pictures in those!! hehehehehehehheheh
  25. Probably your two best options are: 1. Cut out the bad spot where it leaks and solder in a coupling. This would be the best repair, as the longevity would be great. 2. Purchase a correct sized compression "Repair fitting" then simply cut the line and slip both ends into the fitting and tighten with a wrench. There are some other things as well, but I have never had much luck with those. If you are unable to solder, it maybe worth the money to have a plumber come solder the fitting in for you, of find a friend that is familar with that type of repair. I think I would dig under a bit and add some gravel to help keep water off the outside of the line, it surely couldnt hurt. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to pm me. Recon
