  1. Great post pics and fish too! Looks like you guys had a great time and it really looks like a good spot you have to fish there. Congrats to you.. ;D ;D
  2. Thanks guys the trip yesterday was great.. I found a new favorite bait to add to my river arsenal and catching that cat was something else. Those things hit like a freight train. I am going to be adding him to my fishing scrapbook for sure. ;D I am still hurting from crashing and burning yesterday but I have to rest up because I am taking a guide trip on Thursday. Last April I took one and we caught 117 fish and that is gonna be tough to beat but I am sure gonna try. ;D ;D
  3. Holy cow! What a fat fish.. Congrats to you! ;D
  4. Welcome to the site, were glad to have you with us. ;D
  5. Yesterday in the late afternoon and early evening my I hit the river for a little bit. The bite was real tough but I still managed to catch some fish. We only got about 10 fish total. Nothing real big caught today but it was still fun. I fished the lizard which is quickly becoming my new favorite bait on the river for sure. Today I rigged it on a 1/8 ounce jig head. It has such a great wiggle when it is rigged like this. ;D Since the sun was setting quickly I decided to call it a day and head up river. Arrived back at the truck and we decided to go and do some night time 4 wheeling since I had no kids for the night it was a blast! Something I had not done in a long time and did not realize how much I missed it. I did not take alot of pics today but here is one of the fish I caught. This morning I got up and my husband was already working so I begged and pleaded with him to go fishing with me and guess what??? I won! Sometimes I can be very persuasive. ;D Again we headed out to the Delaware and I was armed with my lizard once again. The fish were quite a bit more active today once I located them. I found most of them in the currant seams and shallower water adjacent to steep drop offs. I caught quite a few fish before the head on my lizard was just not staying on the jighead anymore. The fish were brutal today. I looked in my pack and low and behold I had no more lizards. Well then I decided I was just gonna bite the head of the lizard and fish it with just a body. I caught and lost quite a few more fish with it just like this before I had to retire the lizard for good. Here is one of the fish that I caught on the headless lizard. Here is an up close pic of my headless lizard. After having to retire the lizard I dug around in my pack and had to come up with something else to use. I remembered that someone on here ( I don't remember who) was talking about using just the chunk on a jig head so that is what I did. Then I hiked up the shoreline a little further and it is not easy hiking this section of river at all. I crashed and burned big time! :'( Man did it hurt, however I did manage to save my rod from going in the drink and that is exactly what I was yelling to my husband when I popped back up because I knew I was gonna be in trouble for going in again. I repositioned myself on the slippery rocks and casted out with that chunk on a jighead and let me tell you it is the perfect little compact river bait. I casted only a few times and all the sudden BAM! I had on what I thought must have been the biggest smallie ever! It was taking drag and I was a grinnin from ear to ear. When I finally got it closer to shore where I could see it I noticed it was silver and white and I had no idea what it was so I did what every woman would do and started yelling for my husband to come and help me. He heard my drag going and was already heading up the shoreline. I ended up with this big catfish. I do not know what kind of catfish it was but it was the biggest that I ever caught. What an awesome experience. ;D Here is an up close pic of my catfish caught on a rage chunk. I only had 1 claw left on the thing after this cat but I fished it anyway and got a few more smallies and a rock bass to on it. It was an awesome day and I have another favorite new bait for the river. Well I am tired I hiked about 1/2 mile upstream today and back down again so I am headed to bed early tonight. I hope you all had the chance to get out and do some fishing today too.
  6. Welcome home! It is good to have you back with us.

  9. Congrats to you, sounds like a great day in the slop and nice fish too! ;D
  10. That is awesome rondef. Congrats on your new PB smallie! ;D
  11. As a topwater bait in the slop they are by far the best. I have had a blast with these things. Good luck to you. ;D
  12. Very nice fish. Congrats. ;D
  13. I love catching pickerel. They grab that bait and run. What a blast. Congrats to you. ;D
  14. Avid definitely said it best. Congrats to you and your family for some time well spent on the water. Thanks for sharing. Great post.
  15. Thanks everyone. I had lots of fun out there. Went out for a bit yesterday too and caught a few more. I hope you all did too. I will try to remember that. It certainly sounds better than my oh so technical description of "creature thingy" lol ;D
  16. I happen to think that's great. ;D Congratulations to your girlfriend and Congrats to you for taking her. ;D
  17. I was thinking the same thing. ;D Maybe it is the rest of us that are off.
  18. That is amazing and that is one talented fish or you are one talented fisherman. ;D I bet you could not do that again if you tried. lol
  19. Nice fish and great pics! Glad to see that you found a new bait you like so much. Thanks for sharing.
  20. Well I have caught a catfish on one before too and also a frog and a bat. Although the bat was not in the water when I got it just afterwords.
  21. Thanks for the kind commments guys. I have been having a blast out there. It it cool to have people to share it with too. ;D I fish from shore alot so I find it best to travel light and keep things simple. I do have another rod which I love too but I find that if I have too much stuff along it just complicates things, I end up getting frustrated and it takes all the fun out of it.
  22. Well since I have not fished in days except for a few hours yesterday I was whispering in my husbands ear at 5am " The fish are biting ". He was not so willing to go out that early so I finished up some work that I had to do around the house and we finally headed out around 2pm. We arrived at the lake and naturally I decided to hit the slop again with the shad. I ended up with this one... After catching a few more on the shad I switched over to the toad. Rondef had me wanting to try it so bad with his posts that I could not wait any longer. First few casts out and I had one on and it was a nice one too! I got him almost to shore and he came unbuttoned. UGH! > I was a little disappointed and after a few not so nice words I was now more determined. I moved up the shoreline a little and continued casting, varying my rate of retrieve a little just trying to get used to this new bait. It was not long and I had one on.. This one was proving hard to get the hook out and I was getting a little frustrated! I casted out again and then I ended up with this guy.. He made up for the good one that I lost in the beginning. ;D Then I tried the lizard and got this guy! Ain't he cute! Then I tried the creature bait thingy. I did not know how to fish this but I caught a fish on it anyway. Last but not least this is what I did with the big guy. Sent him back... I do this with all my fish.. ;D All that and I am tired.. getting old I guess. lol At the end of the day I had an awesome day and had a great time fishing with all my new stuff. I cannot wait to go out and try it all over again another day.. Just not tomorrow. I have to mow and I now have my arm wrapped up again. I hope you all had the chance to get out and fish too. ;D Also before I forget again. I got my FIRST EVER WALLEYE! I got it at the river the other day and man do those suckers have teeth! ;D I got it on the lizard thing and I did REAL WELL with this bait for smallies at the river. ;D My first ever walleye!
  23. Awesome smallies. Congrats to you and I too love the markings on that second fish. Beautiful! ;D
  24. That is awesome! Congrats to all of you. ;D
  25. Great pic and nice fish too. Congratulations to her and Congratulations to you on some time well spent! ;D
