  1. What about something like the rage swimmer?
  2. I'm planning on using spinnerbaits and chatterbaits tomorrow for the MN fishing opener. What are your go-to trailer plastics for 3/8 oz chatterbaits that you can use almost anytime?
  3. For me, it's worth it to stay in MN because of ice fishing. I don't mind the cold, but I do mind having to wait until mid-May (wasting perfect weather) to go Bass fishing I fish pressured south metro lakes and can still consistently pull out 3 pounders easily with the right gear and location. Just no absolute donkeys (like 6+ lbs)
  4. I believe its called hydrilla. It makes great bass habitat but its not too fun to fish in
  5. Man I wish that pike would bite when I'm actually fishing for them.....no, they have to wreck frogs and $10+ choppos
  6. this scares me lol
  7. It's my favorite flipping jig trailer, and a great swim jig and chatterbait trailer as well
  8. I use the choppo as well....I just refer to the whole lure category as "whopper ploppers" kind of like how people call all bladed jigs chatterbaits. The fluoro leader probably works well for spinnerbaits + chatterbaits. Idk about topwater though
  9. So can I fish the WP with straight braid and not worry too much about pike?
  10. ^^^this is important
  11. So what do I do if I want to fish a topwater for bass (like a whopper plopper) that a pike will readily strike?
  12. I actually landed a 20" northern on 2 lb test monfilament while ice fishing. I have never caught one during the open water season. Can pike's teeth cut through straight 30-50 lb braid???
  13. Fish that I want to catch but haven't yet: Open water northern pike (I've only caught them ice fishing) Brown Trout (going camping in June at the Root River to fish for them) Walleye Channel Catfish Tiger Muskie
  14. Definitely a Golden Shiner. Idk about the exact species of the 'goldfish'
  15. I caught at 2.5 lb Largemouth with a crappie lure on my ultralight rod. After netting it, I threw it straight back. I always catch juvenile bass while fishing for crappie. It's just unavoidable
  16. Weightless senko or strike king caffeine shad
  17. Looking at the colors, I would probably go with Bone, Maverick, and Ghost bluegill
  18. I believe Spring Lake (which is connected to Prior by a small channel) has a population of white bass as well. It might be a quieter place to go catch 'em because Prior is a magnet for every type of boater around here. Spring Lake also has some really nice bass in it I've also gotten out over the past two weekends for some crappie, caught around 30 including my new PB of 11 inches (I know its small, I've only been fishing for 2 years now). Accidentally caught a 2.5 lb Largemouth on a tiny crappie minnow on my UL setup with 4 lb monofilament as well. For the opener, Im heading to a small pond in my kayak near my house where I caught a 4 pounder last year.
  19. I have a pack of creme worms that I got for a buck at walmart. They're basically your typical senko-style worm, and they're 5" long. I have to say that I like them better than Yum dingers, and I always grab them if I see them.
  20. Yes. I just caught some juveniles just like that while fishing for crappie
  21. I just bought my first ned rig supplies (finesse TRD Canada craw color with a 1/10 oz shroomz jighead) I've heard really good things about the ned rig. I'll see how it works out for local largemouths as soon as the season opens
  22. So far, pflueger, daiwa, and okuma have not given me any problems. I will be looking to try abu garcia and shimano pretty soon
  23. I've been thinking about starting to fish with swimbaits. I want to spend less than $20, so I am think about the Baby Bull Shad swimbait. Has anyone used it before? Is it a good beginner swimbait? I you have any thoughts or suggestions please let me know. Thanks!
  24. I really like the rapala x-rap for smallies
