Absolute best all-purpose chatterbait trailer

Featured Replies

I'm planning on using spinnerbaits and chatterbaits tomorrow for the MN fishing opener. What are your go-to trailer plastics for 3/8 oz chatterbaits that you can use almost anytime?

I like paddletails on my chatters - RI Skinny Dipper or Eco Pro Swing Shad.

Tail down if I want them to run deeper, tail up if I want them running shallower.

And I don't like paddletails on my trailers. For thin profile, Yamamoto Zako or Strike King Blade Minnow.  Zoom Super Fluke does well in a pinch.  For a "fatter" profile, Rage Menace rigged vertically.

Zako or any bug/grub (Rage Menace, Rage Bug, Bandito Bug) even craw trailers work.  For zakos, I'll reel a little faster to stay of the bottom, for bugs/grubs, I'll do a slow chatter while ticking the bottom and pauses.

What about something like the rage swimmer?

I recently started using the Zman DieZel Shadz and it’s amazing. Prior to that, Rage Menace.

If youre looking for more commotion, then a rage swimmer or any paddletail will give that. I don't usually use them, but I have produced with them

Well, after just a few posts you will see everyone has a different opinion. I sometimes prefer a paddletail like a rage swimmer or fat impact and sometimes prefer a zako or blade minnow. Your best bet is to experiment and decide what works best for you.

If I could only have one, it would be the Zako..

Hog Farmer 4.5" Spunk Shad (pin tail) when I want a bigger presentation but mostly the Zoom Twin Tail Creepy Crawler.

Rage Structure Bug

I used to use a regular 4in fluke...this year I've been using the swimon and have liked it so far

Lots of great options already mentioned. I have a friend who fishes a full Trick Worm on the back of his bladed jigs. It looks ridiculous, but it works, big time.

Yup, gotta love it: what's the absolute best?  Nobody agrees.  In other words, there is no "absolute best"...only preferences which you must discover for yourself.  No shortcuts!

Around and Below 50ish degrees. I like just using a 4 inch twister tail.  Brand doesn't really matter and match the twister tail color to the chatter bait

warmer the water the bigger the trailer I like Zacco’s/ razor Shad or kamikaze swimons.  Never had luck with paddle tails.

Was my fave until this year. I would cut and re-glue the tail so it would be upright (or natural). I have a couple of buddies that had a mold made that i got to try yesterday, and they are great for 3/8 oz. and heavier heads.
