  1. That's a great purchase, totally justifiable.
  2. Just wondering if anyone else got out of control and made more late night purchases?? I just got a Curado MGL 150 (with its corresponding smackdown line of course and some speed worms just in case) and I had already purchased everything I "needed" I should have gone to bed early!
  3. I was reading your post and tough “spool party” that is so sad, then I read that you drink a lot of beer and I wished to be invited ? So no fishing for us northerners but there is one thing that you south guys are missing. Snowmobiles!
  4. I use a regular milk crate, 4 plano edge boxes, a small plano KVD soft plastics bag and a bass mafia moneybag for keitech. under the seat I keep a pelican case with jj magic bottles (got to keep these safe and protected from the sun)
  5. I'll enjoy staying late in bed on weekends. that's my plan for the winter.
  6. I think is very simple once you get the proper technique, I load it on top of my Grand Cherokee and it wasn't simple the first time but now its fairly quick and easy. there are some very good videos on youtube and while all of them work by the same principle look for one that has the same type of roof rack as your car does. I do mine with a strap between my two Yakima rack bars and it makes it super easier and better for the car.
  7. I guess I wasted everyone's time on this questions, there were only 3 Exprides 610 ML spinning left in stock and I and gave in on the pressure, I paid full price. ?
  8. I was aiming at a 610ML Spinning, but now I want to try to get that one!!
  9. Thanks for the tip!! I was going to buy a JDM Metanium or buy a USDM at a discount on black Friday. JDM still cheaper so I don't know.. But I like your one Expride a year strategy, I may have to copy you on that.
  10. I'm still new to this message board! I haven't gone thought the initiation ritual yet!
  11. I have heard a lot about tackle warehouse adding the discount on Shimano gear once you make the purchase, their site says that shimano is the exemption but it will actually appear on your invoice. can anyone confirm this????
  12. Covid definitely played a roll on how much people are now out trying outdoors activities. It all started last year, last summer it was impossible to buy a bike, cheap or expensive there were all sold out everywhere. Kayak fishing has exploded to were people have to wait 6 months to get they kayak and we are still feeling the effects of it. Supply chain issues definitely played a roll on it but demand was the main problem. It will be interesting to see a curve on how keeps growing during the following months as social activities normalize.
  13. kayak punching will we a full conversation of its own!! I'm pretty new at it since the lake I used to fish was all hard surface and grass, no hydrilla or milfoil or any of that.
  14. Speed is not really an issue for me as I don't do tournaments, actually the issue comes later that day when you can feel that you really worked it out. I take my kayak usually only once a week so it not enough for your body to really get you in shape.
  15. I'm really curios about this Diablo Spec-R, I keep hearing great thing about it. The only reason that I chose the Tour Versatile is the MH action, the lake I fish most of the time is very weedy and I need something stronger to get those baits out of it. Also at 7' seems like a good compromise, not to long not to short. This is an issue for me, my kayak is stable enough to stand up and fish, but I'm not. I still need some practice and want to keep it as safe as posible. Now I'm a really good swimmer and use my PFD all the time but still. But I think this is part of the cool things about kayak fishing is that you have to learn technics you already dominated in new ways.
  16. I'll keep the pedal drive, there is an option with the bixpy to keep them both by placing the motor in the rudder. On using a torqeedo. that was my first choice. but as of now, I think it may be harder to transport my kayak on the roof of my grand Cherokee with just a rudder than the mounting bracket on the torqeedo. Also, battery seems lighter.
  17. At this point, I guess I'll just eat the cost and keep it. like mention before its nice to have the flexibility to use it when need it. Now its only the regret of not buying the powered Minn kota one, it has spot lock!! I did bought it right a the middle of the pandemic and I was lucky to find one anyway. but still..
  18. Well, everybody has different perception on rods and not only on a kayak, but yes to me getting fish the boat is the issue. I lost a few (including a this season's PB) trying to get it close to the net with my current setup. I started looking for a good rod not for this issue but to get an upgrade on sensitivity and once at it reduce length by a few inches. I been curios about those St Croix mojo yak rods. I been trying to check one out but finding gear in my area is so complicated, even bass pro shop stands are empty. I don't know but if everywhere is the same but here in SE Michigan is hard to get a pack of senkos (Ok maybe not sekos) in the color you want. I guess the world wide distribution network disruptions have affected us quite badly.
  19. I cover more water with the t-rig, however on fall (rapidly cooling MI waters) I cover that same water better (so faster) with the shaky head even if I move it slower than the t-rig. Hope it makes sense.
  20. Bought a kayak for a reason, as soon as my kid is old enough I'll get a boat.
  21. I guess I need what I write before posting! I didn't even notice.. well I have hear so many good comments on the Heliums that at this price I'll have to check them out. I have been using a 7'4" and while I do ok, but when I use the 7" Medium I just feel that is easier mainly when landing a fish. At first I didn't think that 4" made a diferencie, but at the end it does. I got hot headed yesterday and bought the Versatile, hopefully I can use it for both applications (jigs and t-rigs) cause I like to carry only 4 rods on the kayak, one spinning, a heavy for frogs and punching, the t-rig and jigs and a medium for treble hooks. I'll need to find a spot for that Kistler
  22. This is very interesting, I try it next time... in April ?
  23. Thanks, I will definitely consider them!! Now that I'm bending my own $300 rule, what are your impressions on Loomis IMX rods in terms of sensibility?
  24. On sale where??? that looks reasonable.
  25. Hi! I'm looking for a new rod for T-rigs and other bottom contact applications. Currently, option number one is the Megabass Orochi Tour Versatile and while I Understand that that is not the best Orochi for the application, the Baralist is just to long at 7'5" for a kayak setup. Question is, what other Rod would you consider on the ~$300 range and max 7' length? If only GLoomis had black Friday deals
