  1. The best in the world use heavy braid? You mean people paid to catch a few fish do. I know lots of lifelong fishermen that can and DO often out-catch the so-called pros, and none of them use 50 and 65lb braid. "Pro" fishermen are little more than salesmen that get paid to sell you stuff. There's a difference in people who get paid to catch 5 fish, and guys who know how to catch fish. I prefer to listen to the latter. The biggest advantage of braid is that it's thin for it's lb/test compared to mono. 20lb braid is as thin as 6lb mono. Using 50-65lb braid negates the biggest advantage that braid has. I saw the video posted up thread. Thing is...I've pulled my kayak around like that with 8lb mono that hooked a log. If you're having knot breaks, then you're trying bad knots. Also saying thick braid cuts through lilly pads and weeds better is false. Physics says that a thinner line would cut through them easier. I literally catch several hundred bass a year with ease. Those saying I have no idea what I'm talking about bc I use 20lb braid on H/F rods with no leader obviously haven't seen me pulling them in one after another on that exact setup. I know it sounds contrary to people who get paid to say certain things, but there has literally never been a situation I've encountered where I needed anything stronger than 20lb line while bass fishing, and I never have problems catching.
  2. Yes it is. The price tag is FAR below what I'd expect for a rod like this.
  3. On video. Multiple. I get people just do what others tell them they should do, but there has literally never been a circumstance I've come across while bass fishing where I said "Know what would have worked better? Braided line that holds 6-7x the weight of a huge bass." Use what you want, but you can't convince me you NEED 65lb line to fish for bass. Ever. Yes..I have a yt channel.
  4. I can honestly tell you...I have never had a knot fail using 20lb braid. Ever.
  5. Palomar knot I fish with standard 3/0 and 4/0 gamakatsu EWG's. Palomar knot.
  6. Moderate for me. I'm a finesse fisherman, so I'll slow down if I'm pretty sure a particular spot is holding fish.
  7. Revo S and Revo SX. Backlashed the revo s a few months ago...I pulled it out, wound up the line, and threw out again. I haven't backlashed the SX. Biggest fish so far this year was 7.25. People use heavy rods with 12-15lb mono. 20lbs is a lot. I catfish with 20lb mono, and on video, I've hauled in 50-60lb fish with it. 20lb test line is MORE than enough for any bass fishing.
  8. Right where I am in S Louisiana. Every year I catch tons of fish. Average is 3-5lbs, and I catch at least one 9+
  9. Yes. Works out very well for me. Most people prefer H/F rods for top water frogs just fyi.
  10. Powerbait pit boss 24/7, 365
  11. All I use now are Abu Garcia rods. The construction matters. The older gen 3 veritas rods (w the black grips) are 30ton graphite. They run stiff. The newer veritas PLX rods are true to rating imo, as is the brand new tournament edition, which is 36ton. If you're talking about the gen 3, it's gonna fish more like a Medium power. Regardless, $60 is a steal for that rod. They punch WELL above their price point.
  12. If you are fishing where your line is getting cut by zebra mussels, then using braid in those locations isn't the best option to begin with. Using huge braid defeats the purpose of using lines that are supposed to be thinner for the lb/test imo. If what you're doing is fun for you, then by all means keep doing it. However, I do what works for me, and have never felt that I needed line that was 3x stronger than what I'm already using. It's like the people saying you need specific rods for each different lure. I have a bunch of casting rods...but they're all either mh/f or h/f. I have what works best for how I fish.
  13. I've used it for a long time with zero issues. I catfish with 20lb mono....bass fish with 12lb mono. 20lb line is overkill for catching 5-10lb fish imo, and have never run across a situation where it was insufficient. The braid on my finesse spinning reel is 15lb. I do what works for me, and what works is 20lb braid direct to my lure with a relatively stiff rod with a fast action. I never use leaders of any sort, so microguides are my preferred guides. I catch a lot of fish, so it it ain't broke... Everyone has their opinions on everything, including me. I do what works, and have never had all these problems people say I should have with 20lb braid, etc.
  14. Unless branches are made of something different where you are, I've never needed more than 20lb braid...and I fish in swamps.
  15. I use a Curado DC with a 7' MH/F Abu Garcia SilverMax rod for skipping.
  16. You don't need 50-65lb braid unless you're shark fishing offshore. I use suffix ProMix or hercules fade proof.
  17. I'm confused. What issues would I have? And yes...I throw several frogs with it. Frog fishing is my 2nd favorite way of bass fishing.
  18. Moral of this thread...we need more fishing movies lol
  19. Low maintenance ladies are where it's at Mine doesn't complain to be honest...just rolls her eyes lol
  20. I must be engaged to the one woman on the planet whose entire makeup kit fits in a bag the size of a fanny pack, so I can't use this technique as much as I'd love to ? Been sitting here reading it 50 times going "What can I replace make up brushes with that she actually has lots of and that costs tons of money? Contact lenses? No...um...she's got 5 pairs of shoes, so that's out too...uh...I'll just bribe her with cookies again.". ???
  21. You're making me paranoid lol! Well...thanks to you, I'm gonna look for a way to secure it better...thanks for the heads up! It's a Korean model...at least according to the sticker.
