This disgusts me...
Who needs 1400 POUNDS OF CARP. I think it's gone way past food, and into just killing to kill.. Go kill carp in over populated waters and eat them or do whatever, but don't kill bass like that. Use some skill and brains and try and hook one with a rod and reel.

Reel men throw pink!
The only kind of bass I think you'll catch on that is Lance Bass.

quick changers
It's holding a lure loosely around the eye hole of the lure, it's not like string which is directly tied to it.. Thus altering the movement.. It's not the weight in my mind that changes the action.

quick changers
Be careful, they may change the action of your Crankbait, or any bait for that matter.. I don't use them just because it takes 2 seconds to tie a not, infact I like the 2 second break to sit down and relax..

Taking a few large carp to eat is fine.. But when you have 20+ carp plus carp that barely weigh a pound, that's said. Catch the big monster carp, and leave the small ones alone.. The bass images are what REALLY got to me and the reason for the post (Mostly). Also, as many of you were bringing up HUNTING.. My point of few on hunting is the same as spear fishing. I'm against hunting, and will NEVER kill an animal unless completely necessary to survive. Don't get me wrong, I can understand WHY people hunt, but me, I cannot get myself to kill an animal. And for people who kill animals and leave them dead in the dirt, and for the people that kill animals, put their heads on their wall, and make clothes and junk out of the rest of them, and do nothing with the meat, disgusts me. No i'm not some PETA tard, but those are just my views. Like I said, this is me, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I'm glad to see i'm not the only one disgusted by 6lb bass with holes in the middle of their head with blood coming out.

http://www.atlantisdivers.com/spearfishing-gallery.html Spearing Large Mouth Bass to put on their walls... Spearing 50 Carp in a day to do what? Sure as hell not eat them... These guys go around spearing as many fish, regardless of the size, just for sport... Some nice 6lb bass dead, because some guy thought it would be fun... Sorry, just had to vent a bit, very disturbed by that.

Well, at least I caught something!
Seagulls fight like crazy! I hooked one with about 50 yards of line out (bait fishing for stripper), the d**n thing hit it before it even hit the water, and zOOOM took off! I cut the line, it was just too tough to try and bring in.

- Fishing trip with the girlfriend!
She always complains when I go fishing, and she had never been, so I sorta convinced her to try it. Took a bit of time, but she realized, she doesn't like me going because I dont' talk to her on the phone or see her when I'm fishing, so why not come with me so she can spend more time with me.. Oh, and Avid, people say she looks like Brook Hogan, Hulk Hogans daughter,- Re: How big?
Well, I do agree with you about the other guys fish. It looks like a 1 lb fish or in that area. I just know that some times a pic can be deceiving. When I looked at the pic of the 12.11 I couldn't believe how much smaller it looked than in person. I mean, that fish was 27" long! The other 2 people with me said the same thing. Anyway, no big deal. I'm still upset to this day that that's the only pic I have of that fish. She was so pretty in real life. Maybe that's what I get for not bringing my good camera that day. :'( We should talk to a photographer and see why some fish look bigger and some smaller.. I think that if you have a larger background like scenery and junk in the back, it makes it look smaller. Take a picture with just a solid background or something and take it a bit closer to the camera... That may do the trick... I dont' know, I'm just guessing.- Re: How big?
The 13.1 looks HUGE, look at the stomach.. The other ones though, jeezus, I never would of guessed... I totally believe you, but JEEZ. Not sure how the fish look so much smaller.. I still say, when a fish is on the ground, next to a rod and reel, it's a bit easier to tell, simply because they're all flat on the ground, you're holding the fish out, it's also taken from a distance away.. None the less, I'm baffled at how large those fish truly are.- Fishing trip with the girlfriend!
I gave her one of my rods, I still use it as a 2nd or 3rd rod when not with her, but for the most part, it's her rod now.. She's getting the hang of it. She's a pro with the frog, I'll have to ask her for advice next time I use it.- Fishing trip with the girlfriend!
Thank you! I will be trying this for sure next time I go. I'm returning there on Saturday again, so pray for me that it'll be the same situation!- Re: How big?
They're all in the 5-7lb range. You're holding the fish forward, thus creating the image of a bigger fish.. Don't get me wrong, those fish are nice in size, but not 9 and 10lbs.. If I was to seriously guess... I'd say 6.5 for #1, roughly 23in #2 i'd say 5 #3 i'd say 5.5- Chick River- 5/19
Maybe just a bit under 4.5, can't forget to minus the half a tail! Good fish man!- Fished for a couple hours today...
I remember 6 years ago, there were blue gill EVERYWHERE, Crappie EVERYWHERE, and within the past 2 years they've died out and totally disappeared.. also... Now that I think about it, I see a lot of bass in there with strange scars and scratches, and many are fresh wounds, or for one reason or another, haven't healed... I caught a 5 1/2 pounder in October that was real cut up on the top that looked fresh as in it was tender and you could see some stuff :-/ . Wonder if there's something scary in the water.. I remember a couple years back, there was a scare because someone had supposedly released a few piranhas in the water. I don't believe that much, but that's what every ranger there says..- Fishing trip with the girlfriend!
I'm going to order some dragon flies today! Those things look KILLER!!! One problem: The hook is on the d**n bottom... I can't drag it on the top of heavy weeds which is tough due to the way the water is laid out.. There's about 3-4 ft from shore to the heavy top water weeds, and then 2ft of the heavy weeds, then open water again... Not sure if you can understand what im' saying... But I hate to get these $10 things hung up..- Re: How big?
I agree. If it's actually a 16" fish it could be around 2#'s. I think we're all just guessing since there's no way of knowing exactly how long the butt grip, real seat and fore grip on that rod is. 8-) Look at it based on the size of the reel, that fish is tiny. Looks 10 inches. Rods and grips can be all sizes, but that reel must be the size of my head then! Even without looking at anything BUT the fish, it just doesn't have the look of anything over 1.5 lbs.- Fished for a couple hours today...
Eh, I didn't mean to post that one, meant to post another. That's the same fish that weighed in between 5 1/2 and 6 but the darn scale. It should be on Page 2 or 3 under biggest fish of the year. It looks smaller in this pic...- Fishing trip with the girlfriend!
Yah, positive that 50% of them were bass, the others I didn't see just heard, but I def saw several bass jumping out of the water. It was strange, I saw nothing landing on the water at all... Tried SuperFlukes and such but nothing... Maybe I should bring my fly rod next time and see... That'd be awesome, bass on a fly rod!- Fishing trip with the girlfriend!
Haha, She's pist that I posted it cause it's a "Bad Picture", Girls these days! I consider it her first REAL BASS. Nice Size, took skill and timing to catch it, no fluke or accident about it.. THAT'S THE FIRST TIME SHE'S EVER HELD A FISH, FOR A YEAR NOW SHE'S REFUSED TO HOLD ONE.- Re: How big?
that fish is 1lb , if that... No where near 2lbs.. Looks like 10 inches to me... then again I can't tell that, but it's def not over 1 1/2 lbs- Fishing trip with the girlfriend!
So today I dragged my not so willing girlfriend to come fishing!! I caught 2 both under 2lbs but just over 1lb. My girlfriend got tired after 10 minutes and wanted to leave. But I found a spot right as we were going to leave, with tons of thick weeds that were on the top of the water.. I convinced her to throw a frog on the top (She's caught 2 bass in her life with worms), and she was throwing it on the top, and BAM, she got a hit, but pulled to quick.. to make a long story short, she hooked that sucker and got him in. Just barely under 2lbs. Here's a pic.. Also, I need some advice, I'm going to be going to that same spot, Big bass were jumping out of the water but I couldnt' see what they were eating.. Solid 3-6 pound bass were straight jumping out of the water.. Any idea what they could be feeding on, I didn't see any types of minnows or anything... What works well for these situations, heavy cover on the top, fish jumping, what works well?- Fished for a couple hours today...
thank you bryant and supermat, it is a tough place to fish, but I've been doing great as of lately. I fished there from age 12-18 and caught 2 bass the entire time.. Now I catch 2-8 bass all over a pound and half and usually over 2lbs. So it's gotten better.. Thanks both of you! Come fish it if you're ever near by! I live in Oakland and always up for new fishing buds. Just PM Me. - Fishing trip with the girlfriend!
