  1. Strange, but no... There's nothing in the Reservoir that could do that, to my knowledge. Trout, Bass, Carp, few Sturgeon, Catfish No Crappie, No Bluegill, Nothing else... (It's amazing that there's some decent size fish considering the only thing the bass can eat are themselves and trout... Maybe a bass did that...
  2. Today was great conditions, but just slow fishing. Caught this one, and a few others, but this was the biggest of the day. Few days ago and last week
  3. Go to TackleBox above, there's a weight calculator. Type in length and girth and it gives you an approx weight..
  4. I'm using 8lb PLine CXX Extra Tough I believe is what it's called.. How does braided cast and such? I fish mostly 6" wacky rigged senkos and Super Flukes, I like to feel the slightest of hits and such.. What brand is good, and how thin is the line?
  5. I pulled in a 24" and a few 20in bass successfully, but have had a few 20-24in bass ring me up in branches and tulies and such.. I will try pulling them into the weeds today.. Then again, a few of the fish I've pulled to the dock and they've came willingly but then shot full force past the dock and under it.. Anythings worth a shot though, thanks.
  6. Hey, I fish from shore, and as of lately I've been hooking some very nice 3-6 lb bass .. I'm losing about 30%-50% of them because they keep wrapping themselves around branches, tulies, and all that stuff, making it very tough.. I've been fishing from docks, and found great places along weed lines and such, but they second they get hooked, they head for the tall weeds and such.. I try and direct them and steer them, but it's tough when they're pulling with such force.. Any help?
  7. The thing that really gets to me, is when I'm fishing at a dock with another person or even a few other people, and I'm the only one catching bass, they always see me release them, and ask if they can have the next one.. It puts me in an awkward position, I always say no, but I'm a nice guy and dont' want people to think i'm an a-hole.. To me, if I was going to keep fish, it takes away the fun if you dont' catch it yourself.. Does this happen to you guys when fishing around others?
  8. Every time people that aren't bass fishers find out I release all my fish, they think I'm crazy and ask why. I don't see why it's such a big shock... There's 100 other types of fish that are easier to catch, cheaper to catch (in many cases), and taste better. I fish for sport, I love the enjoyment of catching a big bass and having that crazy fight and anticipation upon seeing it surface. I then thank the fish by releasing the fish , and maybe i'll catch'm again but 10lbs bigger! Only time I'd ever keep a bass is if I rip a gill, or the fish is for sure going to die. Thank god this has never happened to me, and fingers crossed, it never will.

It weighed 4.9lbs. Looks bigger but then they allways do! You could easily pass that off as well over 5. That looks great! Congrats on a good day man, keep them comin!
  10. It's TERRIBLY over populated. Fish everywhere, but all small.
  11. Easy Solution: Get a Net!!! I'm getting one tomorrow, past week i've lost too many 5+lb bass trying to lip them.
  12. That's pretty common.. Every time I get a bite, or hook one that gets off, I cast RIGHT BACK same spot, and gett'm to bite 75% of time.
  13. I wish I could invite people along but it ain't my boat and it really only comfortably seats two. We really want to fish Clear Lake soon. I wish there was good camping in that area. I have a hard time springing for hotel rooms to go fishing. Oh man, I was only kidding! haha. And for Clear Lake, sleep in the car!! It's def worth it, Clear Lake is the best fishing, I've driven up there just for a few hours of fishing, and I live in Oakland. The trip is WORTH IT, and if you dont' wanna go that far, just go to Berryessa.

Nice goin T-Rig!! Guesstimate on #3? Curious to see if you know how much that sucker weighed! Looks like a gorgeous fish.
  15. Very nice fish for a first timer. Took me honestly a few years and gaining a lot of knowledge before I caught more then 1 bass on an outing . Fish below is 5 1/2 - 6lb range, none the less, great fish, and keep on keeping on. They'll only get bigger and put up more of a fight! You'll be dreaming about hooking fish all night, (if you're not already!)
  16. Past 2-3 weeks have been very nice weather, as hot as 90 and mostly 70's-80's. Yesterday it probably dropped to 65, and today it's 59degrees right now with a possible high of 69. I've been fishing very successfully the past few weeks but not sure how the weather will change the fishing. Please any advice would be great!
  17. Try wacky rigging some plastic worms ( Senkos work best or any other stick baits ) .. They're 100 times easier to set the hook due to the fact the hooks already sticking out.. Use 6" ones, you'll still catch some small ones, but you'll def have a better chance at catching bigger ones.. I had the same problem today, I fished a new pond, and caught 5 small ones, and hooked only one that was over 12inches long, that one came on a 6" Senko.
  18. Good to see you had fun! I haven't been able to fish clear lake this year yet because I'm in the midst of getting a new car. That's my favorite lake, and it's ticking me off that I can't get out there. Congrats on the tourny, 40th may seem like you're far from first, 2nd place was 27 you really weren't too far behind. Goodluck on the Delta, I'm waiting to get a jonboat in November till I start fishing the delta ;D Best of luck!
  19. I fished a Golf course pond that I had never fished before, and boy did I get frustrated! I had bites on every cast with Senkos, I had a fish on EVERY cast with a lipless crankbait, and I had hits on a frog every cast, BUT I only caught ONE fish over 10inches. The fish was roughly 11-12inches. Not to mention, It got off right before I got it in my hands.. I caught fish from 3inch-8inches. I dont' know if there's any big bass in the pond, it's a fairly small pond with just some frogs but no bluegill or any other fish for them to eat... So is it possible for them to not be getting larger then 12in? Or are there bigger ones in there? I was throwing 6" senkos!
  20. I don't fish bass on beds, ON PURPOSE. I'm sure I hook fish 10ft out on beds that I just can't see. But I don't look for bedding bass, and if I find them, I let them be. That's just me, I don't disagree or hate on people who fish beds, but if they don't release the bass quickly, or if they keep a bass that's sitting on a bed, that gets me angry..
  21. Every time I think about this happening or hear about it actually happened, I always think about the move, "There's something about Marry".
  22. Dang man! Take me next time!! haha.. I fished shasta lake last summer, caught a few 2lbs but that was it (I was shore fishing). Clear Lake has bigger fish, and it's closer , so now I just waste all my gas money driving up there!! Congrats on the fish though, that 2lbr looks nice, and trout while fishing for bass is always fun!
  23. Nice fish man! I've caught one fish on my life on a spinner bait, and it was under 12 inches. Congrats on the fish!
  24. I love dark trigged worms, but I don't go black, I just like darker worms in darker greens and blues, that's what's been working great for me at night. Wacky rig a 6" Senko any dark color, and you'll catch bass all night!
  25. It's a bummer, but at least you did the right thing and didn't let it go to waste. You did a good thing.
