Biggest Fish this year!
Haha. I have 30+ white shirts, but as for jean shorts, they're my "Junk Shorts" just like I always wear the same pair of shoes, although i have 30+ pairs of shoes.. I guess I don't want to get other nicer clothes dirty, and hey, it's giving me goodluck!!

Biggest Fish this year!
Thank you sir! and thanks to everyone else. I'm still on a huge high from that catch. Hopefully it'll become a more frequent thing throughout the rest of spring and into summer.

Biggest Fish this year!
I love wacky rigging senkos now. It's my go to bait, and yesterday, it was the only thing I threw (except a Super Fluke for no more then 20 minutes). I'm very puzzled though... The fish in my avatar (22in / 5.4lbs) This fish is longer, as you can see I'm wearing the same shirt and jeans, it's 25in not 22in, and it has a much larger stomach... Oh well, guess I'll never know the exact weight, I'm ordering a scale tomorrow, any suggestions for under $30 thats accurate and durable? Or is there no such thing?

Looking into water distorting the size of bass.
Yah I think you're a rare exceptions. You fish for MONSTERS! For me, and I always thought it was a general rule, water magnifies everything, does it not? To me, if something looks 4lbs in the water, I'd say 2-2 1/2 out of water, if something looks 8, it's probably 5-6. Just from what I've noticed... I think because you're so used to monster bass, your perception is a bit different.

Biggest Fish this year!
Thank you, and although it wasn't as big as the one I hooked on Thursday night in the same area, it sure helped me cheer up!

finally....UNskunked!!
My sentiments exactly It's the truth, and the more I see you and others write it on these forums, the more I realize how confidence is better then any lure ever created. I kept catching 2lbers today, and just kept knowing I'd get a big one, and did. Confidence is key! The only times I get skunked are when I sit there saying to myself, d**n today sucks for fishing, they won't bite, etc...

finally....UNskunked!!
Hey man, next time you'll catch 6 all over 2lbs! Once you start to gain confidence in catching fish, it makes all the difference in the world.. Coming from someone who just recently (past year) also has started to learn and pick up on bass fishing, it takes a bit of time, but once you start, you just can't stop catching! Congrats on the good day man.

Biggest Fish this year!
Boy do I love this site! If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't know about Wacky Rigging senkos, and jeezus, I'm hooked! Scale was old and iffy it was a rangers at the resevoir, first it came up 6.3, then 5.4, then 6.1. I really wish I had a good scale, but the picture and feeling of catching her was plenty for me to be happy about.. Here's 2 of the other 5 smaller ones I caught

If you could only use 1 lure ever again
Zoom Super Fluke for sure... ...then again, maybe a 5" Senko

T rig
I almost always leave it in the plastic. Unless I'm having trouble hooking up with fish, and a few get off, I'll expose the hook and hook up with much more ease.. I should probably always expose it =)

A weedless crankbait...
I think the closes you'll come to weedless is a trebble hook with the little wire covering each hook.. I have tons of them, but never use them, they won't get caught on branches or wood, but still weeds will wrap around the entire hook..

California girls love it in the dark ; )
Lucky Lucky Lucky!! I wish I could night fish without the park rangers telling me I'm getting a ticket! Once again Four, some very nice bass.

what type of fishing line should I use?
The reel is rated for 8lb 90yards, is 11.9 going to be too much? How many yards could If it in there?
-
How many does it take to be a "good" day?
I say 5 good solid fish is a good day. Anything above 5 solid 15-20in fish is an even better day! Or one or two over 5lbs is always a nice day too!

Thank you sir! and here I thought P-Line was junk! There's no fishing stores here in Oakland, and RiteAid near me sells P-Line, I thought everything they sold was junk.

Good ending2a good day? Or a bad ending2a goodday
The d**n fish was right at the dock, I close my eyes and can see it right there at the top of the water, I put my hand down going to reach for it, and ZZZZZZ the line goes for 2 seconds and snap under the dock.. Oh well, I'm going to bed, hopefully I can get the horrible image out of my head.. Four, if that happened to you, is that a Bad ending or a Good ending? Would you rather have not hooked 2 nice fish at the end, or would you have been happy to hook them even though they got away?

what type of fishing line should I use?
Past few outings, I've been snapped of by some nice bass, and I'm just getting sick and tired of it. Right now I'm using P-Line Floroclear (Fluorocarbon Coated) 8lb test. I have a 6"6 ML IM7 Graphite rod with a Shimano Spinning reel The reel is only rated up to 8lb test with 90yards, which is very little, but I'm flat broke and can't afford another reel at the moment.. What's the best all around line to use ? I fish from shore (Senkos, Super Flukes, mostly all plastics with the occasional crank or spinner bait).

Good ending2a good day? Or a bad ending2a goodday
Eh, from now on, trust me, I will.. Just got too worried about it.. Instead of getting too upset, I'm trying to think of the positive. First day trying out a Wacky Rigged senko and caught some nice bass, and hooked 2 VERY VERY nice bass that although I was unfortunate about not getting in, still gave me TONS of confidence in wacky rigging a senko. I'm going to buy the proper hooks (Octopus hooks? or is that not what they are?) so I can properly fish the wacky rig, oh and I'm getting 10lb line.) Oh and after thinking about it, would fishing in saltwater 4 days prior with the same rod and reel cause the 8lb line any damage? I was just thinking about that, I was at a river near my girlfriends house, and saw a guy catching some striper, so I decided to have a go, hadn't even thought about changing my line until thinking about it tonight..

Another night outing

Good ending2a good day? Or a bad ending2a goodday

Good ending2a good day? Or a bad ending2a goodday
Ok, I'm very frustrated about how possibly my best or 2nd best fishing day this spring ended... Today I caught a nice 3.5 and 3lb bass, along with a few other 13-15 inch bass.. Cause 2 on a wacky rigged senko (First time I've EVER tried wacky rigging anything). I started to head back up to the car, when I realized the park closes at 8:30 and I had 30 minutes left to fish! I wacky rig a senko with a EWG hook (yes I know this isn't right, but it's all I had with me ;D).. So I drop it 10-15 ft away from me, and all of a sudden my line just shoots straight and I was caught so off guard I gave it a real half a55'd tug.. Fish jumps out of the water 2 seconds into the fight and fish off.. The fish was 5-6lbs just roughly from looking at it. 10 minutes left, and I was so frustrated, I threw another senko in the same spot over and over, and bam, my line shoots straight again, this time I yanked I hurt my arm. I had what I thought was the same bass I had just lost to, and the fight began.. When all of a sudden I hear (the park is now closing, please exit or you will get a ticket).. Without thinking, I just tightened my drag and tried to reel the sucker in.. Surprisingly I got him to the dock and was about to try and reach my hand down, when he shot under the dock... AND SNAP! Line snapped like it was nothing , a good 3 ft above where the hook was.. I was using 8Lb line that shouldnt' have done that.. It wasn't the same fish, this one was AT LEAST 2lbs heavier, just nicer all around... So I hooked 2 very nice bass in the ending 30 minutes I fished.. But had nothing to show for it because I couldn't get them in.. How would you guys think of the ending ? Would you guys say it was a good day with a good ending? Or is that a bad ending? I'm so frustrated and upset, and just so d**n angry! I wish I could think of it as a good ending, but to be honest, I dont' know whether I would have rather not hooked those 2 nice fish and just left without that last 30 minutes... Sorry for lack of pictures, I need to get a real camera, my phone screws up and just aggravates me even more!

Spawn behavior??
These fish were 6"-8" no where near over 8", and 8 is on the high side. These guys were little, that's why I was so confused... It's strange, but interesting, I'm going back today, I'll let you guys know if I see anymore news.. I would have thought all spawning would be done, considering it's been 90degrees here for a week now and water temps pretty high as well.. Maybe they were just getting the feel for it for next year?
-
Spawn behavior??
Exactly. I took a video with my cell phone, they were doing it for 30 minutes or more. I kept looking over, and he was either doing it, or would do it again within minutes... I'll try and post the video if I get time later, the cellphones quality is quite crap...
