  1. I'm miserable right now, I passed up a fishing trip to go to a Local Reservoir and rent a boat with a fishing bud, due to a very bad sprained ankle.. For the past 2 and half weeks I've had bronchitis so no fishing, then on my last day of antibiotics, I severely sprained my ankle (pic below). So I'm going on almost a month of fishing, and then this great opportunity comes.. Keep in mind, I've NEVER Fished from a boat before, NOT ONCE. Bank fisherman for the past several years. So when this guy invited me you know how I must have felt. Is it just me, or am I crazy? I keep feeling like I should have gone, regardless of everyone else saying I need to stay and let my ankle get better. My entire foot and ankle is bruised and swollen, and I'm not supposed to put weight on it for 7 days (today is the 4th day). Would you have gone regardless? I want to feel like I made the right choice by staying home, but I just keep feeling like I should have gone..
  2. A 7Lb bass is something to be very proud of. There are many people who bass fish for years without catching a 7lb bass, and for you to do it so quickly is something to def be happy about.. The addiction has only begun ;D
  3. Eh, I think it happens to everyone, ESPECIALLY with plastics.. I'm not sure whether or not it's happening more so to you then others, sure sounds like it. I have 1-3 a month in which it goes through the socket or eye. Maybe someone will disagree and give advice, but seems like it's just a part of fishing.
  4. Great fish man, No matter if it's 3.5Lbs or 7lbs, it's your current PB and that's what counts.. I told you, they were only going to keep getting bigger. And sure enough, they have.. You'll be at 7Lbs soon enough!
  5. Interested... and the down side? Is it very visible under water? Or why doesn't everyone use it. There's gotta be a catch! ALSO, if I did go to Braid.. What do I need to know about Spooling the line / Other things... Anything I should be aware of?
  6. They have the President with the Extreme rod Combo for sale for $119.99. The Stradic + Extreme is $139.99. Is the President better? The Stradic you save more, but not sure if it's better.. As for baitcaster, I'm not good with baitcasters, and have one decent Shimano setup that I am going to be practicing with to see if I like it more. But for now, I want a spinning combo.
  7. I'm wondering if the line sensitivity has changed a great deal. The fluoro stuff I was using, I could feel a tap on the line with ease, now i haven't felt taps, maybe due to no fish, or maybe due to sensitivity.. How does Braid compare to Flouro and Mono when it comes to sensitivity. I fish wacky rigged senkos more then anything, so feeling that little tap or seeing that little movement means a whole lot to me...
  8. Still desperately need advice. Would like to order today
  9. I considered this, and doubt that is the problem. I fish from bank, casting from a dock along tulies and such, so if the bass takes me into the tall weeds and tulies, there's no way getting the fish, so I'm forced to pull the fish a bit to the side, although my drag still screams and the fish still fights.. So for those situations, It's very tough for me to play with the fish and not be concerned about losing the fish in weeds. But that could be one of the problems.. The 8lb Pline that I originally used, wasn't great for the other reason that the line got beat up. If I got snagged, there would be 20 spots in the 20 yards of line that was being pulled in which the line was messed up.. So that's the only other negative with it.
  10. Ok guys, this is a Fishing Line question.. First I started with 8lb Pline fluorocarbon. Caught tons of decent sized bass, 2-8lb bass, BUT anything over 6lbs was snapping my line and frustrating the hell out of me.. This line casted like a dream, had no line twist and was pretty thin.. I loved it, aside from being broken off too easily. I switched to that Extra Strong CXX (I believe) in 10lb, but it was just too thick for my liking, and when I casted it with weightless senkos or anything, the line was just so twisted and looked like it still wanted to be on the reel. So I switched again to that Yo-Zuri I believe it's called, Hybrid.. It's 8lb.. Not many complaints, It's not as nice as the 8lb pline fluoro, but it's better then the Extra Strong I was using. BUT BUT BUT.... I haven't caught more then a few 10in bass on the past 6 trips I've been on (all using this line).. I'm fishing the same spots, same techniques, and more! Nothing!! It's becoming very annoying.. Is it just because the spawn is over and they've moved to much deeper water? Or could it be the line... I just don't understand... Maybe I'm trying to blame my last few outings on Line, but maybe it could be a genuine issue? I don't know.. I want (and i'm sure everyone else wants) thin diameter line, that's strong... I've heard terrible things about braid (I fish Soft Plastics 99% of the time), so I'm not sure what else to go for... I fish wacky rigged senkos a lot, so twisted line just looks terrible =\ Oh, I'm using a Sedona 1500 Reel with a BPS Tourny Series rod.. I will soon be getting a Stradic 1500 / Extreme Rod combo from BPS, so line suggestions for each would be great!
  11. Can't wait for yet another of your great products. I will be ordering these right when they come out. =)
  12. Anyone else out there have any of the combos I listed up above? I'm looking to order one asap, but really want to hear from people on here about them..
  13. I'm leaning towards the Stradic, do you guys think the Stradic / Extreme 7" MH would be good for ShakeyHead / DropShotting / Super Flukes / Wacky Rigged senkos? I was also looking at the Quantum® Kevin VanDam Signature Series Spinning Rod and Reel. That's $130 http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74421_100003002_100000000_100003000_100-3-2 Pflueger / extreme: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_59170_100003002_100000000_100003000_100-3-2 Stradic Combo (If you say this is the one I should get, plz tell me which Item Number it's so confused ) Daiwa Setup: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90139_100003002_100000000_100003000_100-3-2 Last but not least, what is this "Mag Spool Technology" with the wider spools, are those good? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90689_100003002_100000000_100003000_100-3-2 That's the Extreme rod pretty much with a free reel..
  14. I have a $70 Shimano Baitcaster (not sure if it's good or not but i've had it for a year or two but havne't used it) also it came with a decent baitcasting rod. What is the easiest lure to practice it with out on the water? Spinner bait ? I was thinking about throwing a spinnerbait on there and having a go at it..
  15. If there's something wrong with doing that, then I think 99% of us have that problem... My girlfriend THOUGHT I was crazy just because I liked to fish. Then once I took her / Showed her my tackle boxes, and organized my stuff in front of her, she realized crazy was an understatement.

Thank you very much. I've been getting a bit tired of Super Flukes and wacky rigged senkos, so this and drop shotting will be my next 2 hopefully productive techniques.. Thank you very much. Texas, you're (I think) the only other person I ever see on past 11pm PST time.. What time is it in Iraq (assuming you're not back yet?)
  17. Goodluck four, have a good trip. Oregon is great, I fished up there about 4 years ago with some success but not bass. Steelhead and big shad and such..

Ok guys, so I've seen tons of people saying they're catching great bass with the shakey head junk, and I need to be informed asap on this fishing style... Please explain, what plastics you would use, what size hook, and techniques.. Thanks..
  19. Hey guys, I can't find an old thread, and have put off getting a new combo. Now with some extra knowledge that I've gained by researching just a bit, I have a few possibilities but open to even more.. I currently have a 6"6 tourny series BPS rod ML (although it doesn't feel like it's a ML feels like a M or MH). I have a Shimano Sedona reel. So nothing special, just the bare basics so I could fish. Now I'm looking for something a step up and maybe in the opposite direction so I have a rod / reel good for certain things, and another combo good for something else... I fish mostly SuperFlukes, frogs, and wacky rigged senkos.. Although I occasional fish Cranks and Spinner baits.. I figure I can use the current setup for spinnerbaits and cranks and my new combo for plastics.. Is there any rod/reel that sticks out in your mind that's great for Super flukes, Frogs, and all plastic worms (wacky and trigged) ? I'd love a setup that's great for all that.. I've looked at the Stradic / Extreme BPS combo for $139.99, also the Extreme rod with the Pflueger President reel for $120 (I think tha'ts the price), and I've also been reading good things about the symetre rod.. I'd like to get a combo for $100, but would go up to $150 if it was REALLY REALLY worth it, and a noticeable difference in the extra.
  20. Those look like Pyle (Pile) worms to me, I use those every time I fish saltwater. They work great, although they do bite. Gotta hold they're head down with something.. I've used Leaches too, those are fun as hell to use. Just be careful
  21. Ok guys, I asked a similar question a few months back, but didn't get much of an answer, maybe I didn't ask it right. I've always used a spinning reel, never used anything else. I was curious as to why people use baitcasting reels as opposed to a spinning reel, and what rigs you use with a baitcaster over a spinning reel.. What reason should I start using a baitcaster, and what advantage does it have? The only thing I've heard is casting accuracy, but I can cast on a dime from far out with a spinning reel, so that doesn't appeal much to me... Any other reasons?
  22. One more reason I love wacky rigged sticks! Sometimes, hardly have to set the hook. It happens though, you win some, you lose some.
  23. Hey guys, my fishing style revolves around weightless plastics... I'm using a 6"6 ML Tourney Special from BPS IM7 Graphite rod and a Sedona 1500FB reel.. I'm not sure if my rod is ok for this type of fishing, but the reel I just don't feel too good with... I fish wacky rigged senkos 90% of the time fishing, the other 10% consists of a Zoom Super Fluke, Trick worm, and occasional Trigged with a light bullet weight... What would be an idle combo , or if the rod is good , what reel would be best... Thanks for the help guys!

There's tons of arguments and threads up about the Senko vs Knock-Offs. I've fished 3-4 other knock-off senkos, and no none are the EXACT Same, some are softer, some are harder, some have more salt, some have less.. Do they work the same? Go read the other threads about this.. Half the people will tell you Senkos work 100 times better and others will tell you that some knock-offs work, and others don't. I use * which are stick baits, and in fact, I catch more bass on them then senkos.. Probably just because confidence. See how you like them.
  25. Hey guys, I've only been a serious bass fisher for the past year, and have never payed much attention to the whole moon phase hype.. 1. From what you have noticed, is it accurate? 2. Is it best to fish on a full moon, new moon, and what times night or day ? For someone who is completely new to understanding about fishing based on the moon, please explain!
