Daiwa tatula ct 7.3. My first "big" reel purchase with 40lb. Power pro.

I'm planning on stopping by sportsman's warehouse and picking up some 1/4 oz and 1/2 oz weights to pitch out on the grass and practice a bit so I'm ready once warm weather hits

I hope I don't back lash on my first trip out, haven't used a baitcaster in a while and i haven't tested the new real yet. Just praying I don't blow it up Same here. since life has gotten a bit busier I use it as a way to just re-stabelize my self and get back to what's happening in the moment instead of whats has happened and what's going to happen next. Only thing I try anticipate while fishing is the next bite 😁

A bit late for the thread and I have seen some in the past, but what are people's fishing resolutions for 2025? My main one is to find more locations, and minors are to use my baitcast more often as well as taking my family out with me more often on fishing trips.

I prefer the feel of braid to floro vs running straight braid or floro.

I ALMOST fell for the "bfs" trap. I would still like to have atleast one set up even though I know for a fact that I can do the same on spinning gear for WAY CHEAPER.... and yet the bait monkey keeps poking. Every time I have had the chance to invest Into it I talked my self out, and it's getting harder each time.

My favorite hobby besides fishing is cooking. I thoroughly love trying out new recipes. As mutch as I love smoking meat I haven't bin able to in a while cause of travel and apartments. So I have bin learning to make things like lasagna, authentic shepherds pie, I even made ratatouille the other day.

I forgot we had a post for it already 😅

Anyone know of any websites that have sales going on at the moment? Bait monkey keeps poking at me and won't let go.

Thanks to everyone for the information, I curently have some braid spoiled on the diawa and planing to pick up either floro or mono for leader material. Once it warms up a bit I will dedicate a trip to the bank with just this rod and really get to know it. Already having a conversation with the bait monkey and he says he can get me a deal on some bladed jigs and a few other things after payday 😅

Most of my fishing is done from the bank so this works out perfectly

I was considering making it a senko/bottom contact for soft plastics rod originally, but I felt like some more opinions would be better. I don't have mutch of an arsenal but I am now considering getting some blade baits. I normally fish finnese on spinning gear but after receiving this rod I'm planning on taking my baitcast rods mor often this year.

My older brother has lovingly given me an old g-loomis rod and I am trying to figure out what the best use/technique for it would be. It's a g.loomis GL3 MBR783C MH fast action 10-17lb tst. and 1/4-3/4 OZ. I curently have a daiwa tatula ct 7.3 on it but I also have a shimano casitas 150 6.3 I can put on it aswell. Any info on what techniques and line weight recomendations for the rod would be a great help!

I moved to carson city nevada recently and need help trying to find body's of water with shore access within about 1 1/2 hour drive. I have had luck finding one spot off of USA parkway that has a few connecting ponds and follows along the trucky river, but have yet to find anything else and that spot gets fished pretty heavily and regularly to a point where I'm having to rely on finnes and sight fishing bass. You don't need to give me GPS coordinates and specifics as where to cast. I just need a little help getting some kind of information.

What is the weirdest thing you have reeled in? Weather it's an invasive species, a tree-pounder or even a rare catch, I would love to see it! So far mine is this kids rod and reel, I snaged onto a line and decided to bring in what I could before it snapped. Turns out it was still attached to the rod!

My two biggest bass of 2022! Both caught about 3 weeks apart, and both broke my old pb. First one caught was at a river where I had never caught a bass, only panfish and trout. Second was at a lake where I never had any Luck after multiple trips out with nothing to show for it.
