Rockhopper
What else are you all into? I'm an avid hunter. I have a passion for all things outdoors. I coach baseball. I ride dirt bikes. I hike. I collect guns and high end knives. I restore classic cars. I am an artist. Spent a lot of time growing up with horses. I love me some sunny beach vacations. What about you?
Super User Jar11591 Posted September 3 Super User Share Posted September 3 I love to camp, cook, garden, and in the winter time I play video games. Love baseball as well, although my playing days are over until I heal up, get off my ash and join a men’s league. I collect memorabilia, most of which is Atlanta Braves memorabilia. I want to get more into hiking, and start tying flies, pouring soft plastics and making hard baits. Photography, specifically wildlife photography, is also on the list of things I’d like to try but the cost of a worthy camera is prohibitively expensive for me at this point in time. And if I ever feel like all those things aren’t enriching enough, I’d like to give artistic cartography a shot.
Super User DitchPanda Posted September 3 Super User Share Posted September 3 Cooking is a huge one for me...I love grilling and smoking meat but also enjoy cooking inside as well. My biggest hobby outside of fishing is whiskey hunting\shopping....I'm sitting somewhere around 65ish bottles right now. Not collecting, all the bottles are open...I just enjoy having lots of options and trying new bottles then sharing them with friends and family. That reminds me I need to track down a bottle of Ardbeg Uigedail soon!
Super User GreenPig Posted September 3 Super User Share Posted September 3 Shoot to stay proficient, weight train, and teach 84 year olds the art of shooting steel at 500 yards with a 22lr. DaubsNU1
Picture guy as my side gig (seniors, families, occasional wedding). Wife and I love to ATV, camp in the 5th wheel, and travel. We average about three vacations per year (don't ask me how she does it...pretty darn amazing how many free flights, discounted Air BnB's she has found). Love to hunt waterfowl, deer and turkey. Have an old 1972 Chevy K-20 to restore some day. Like to mountain and road bike and exercise as well. And fishing...well, that's a given ; )

Super User gimruis Posted September 4 Super User Share Posted September 4 I hunt deer for 9 days in early November and then pheasant hunt through New Years. I also turkey hunt in late April for 5 days. I play in a mens ice hockey league once a week from March - May and I also play a lot of racquet sports. Going to the gym to lift weights and swim is also something I regularly do. On the advice of @A-Jay and @T-Billy I may need to join a more competitive pickle ball league this winter to increase my muskie fishing stamina. 2
Super User A-Jay Posted September 4 Super User Share Posted September 4 Huge dog lover and we do some dog fostering / rehoming for the local animal shelter. All of that is very rewarding. Not sure diet & exercise is really a hobby. Perhaps more of a life style. Either way it does occupies quite a bit of my time & energy, and has for a long time. Last but certainly not least, for the last 16 years, I have thoroughly enjoyed both reading and sharing on a most awesome forum. You might have heard about it. It's called Bass Resource. padlin
Until recently we camped a lot, backpacking, canoe camping, and a 5th wheel. Also hiking has always been a passion, have camped and hiked in most states. Age is catching up so camping has gone the way of the Dodo, but we still hike 2 or 3 times a week, just shorter. Besides fishing these days my hobbies are woodworking, gardening, watching the 2 yo grandson 2 days a week, watching whatever sports matches/games the rest of the grandkids are involved in. That in itself sucks up 1 or 2 weekend afternoons, and at least another weekday afternoon. If you have a bunch of grandkids that you re involved with, there isn’t a lot of time for hobbies. Once a week we take the 2 year old to soccer practice 🤪

Super User new2BC4bass Posted September 4 Super User Share Posted September 4 I'm76 so most of my hobbies have fallen by the wayside. Used to hunt. Still have my guns. Love shooting air rifles. Like photography. Liked target archery and it's something I would like to do again if there are any places to shoot near me. Took guitar lessons for 2 years starting when I was 68, but could no longer memorize the songs, so gave it up. As a teenager I could memorize a song after playing it a few times. Could still play them a few years later although I don't think I remembered the notes. Just muscle memory. Thinking of fooling around with a guitar at home just to break up my daily monotony. No lessons unless I find a useful (free) Online site. One electric and 3 acoustic, but can only chord on the Pono with a 1-7/8 fret width. Fingers get in the way on narrower fret widths. Nowadays I read a lot and watch a lot of TV.....thus the monotony.

You're already in better shape than me. I have tendinitis in both elbows, and both my wrists have been broken, and sound like a bowl of rice crispies when I roll 'em around. Ya just gotta ignore the pain and keep chuckin and windin. 😉 2
OmegaDPW
Pocket knives and fishing are my main hobbies, but I work full-time and am very active in the Knights of Columbus, so not much time to do the other things I like.

The red car is a similar story. 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury. 1 of 186 made with a factory 4 spd. 71k miles. Big block 452 stroker. 650 hp. No longer numbers matching though. The first owner bought it new. I'm the second owner. He owned a concrete company in Cali. Car sat in a warehouse its whole life and was only driven 1/4 mile at a time. Literally zero rust or dents. He pulled the factory motor/tranny and made it an auto car, but left the clutch peddle in thankfully. Converted it back to original during resto, but obviously did some internal motor work. Had to grab a T18 4 spd out of a cuda though.

I connected with a previous owner on a Buick forum. The car was purchased new at Geise Buick in Quincy, Il... I live in Quincy, MA ... nice coincidence. It's got the 3 speed because the orginal owner was coming back from Viet Nam and had his brother order it. The 4-speed box wasn't checked and by default gets a 3 speed. It's 1 of 79 because it's got a 3-speed manual, which, believe it or not, is a FORD toploader. GM used the FORD 3-speed in all big block applications in the '60-'70's because the Saginaw 3-speed couldn't handle big block power. I found the car's VIN stamped on top of the transmission case while repainting it while the motor was out, my next chapter: I bought it at MECUM, and unfortunately, rolled snake eyes. The cam and crankshaft bearings spun on the first long ride I took it on. Luckily there's a top notch engine builder near me. I gave him the motor and a blank check. I've also rebuilt the suspension down to the control arm bushings. I also learned that the car was hit hard in the LF at some point and whomever put it back together did a very good job. It's not perfect, but it's a great driver. I see the imperfections, but it gets lots of attention driving around and at local shows.

volzfan59
Other than fishing, I enjoy building model cars and reading. This year all three have taken a distant backseat to a major remodel of a house that my wife and I purchased out in the country. The floors (joists and all) had to be replaced in over half of the house. Hopefully we'll be in by the end of this month, maybe the middle of next month.
