  1. Going by TW measurement or manufacturers... always fun to do conversions ha
  2. On Tuesday. Do you have any items in your wishlist? If not then maybe it didn't trigger that sale for you?
  3. It's a unique code linked to your profile. One-time use. I'm a Silver Ambassador not sure if that was a minimum requirement, it didn't specify.
  4. If you want to avoid the bait monkey DO NOT check out the "wishlist sale" from Omnia you received by email. It would be a terrible decision to add that code to your cart and start poking around. I totally do not recommend adding items from usually excluded manufacturers, or even items already marked down on sale like the 25% off senkos. Also definitely do not add already discounted PRO Member items such as the Okuma Hakai which ended up being $97 in my cart. 🐒🐒
  5. I really want to get both the Curado and SLX in hand to compare... the feel in hand is everything for jerkbaits and topwaters so I'd sacrifice some features if it felt better. That's part of my question... what would a new Curado 70 include that the SLX 70 A doesn't? Maybe the answer is nothing (for now) and that's why we won't see one soon. Shimano updating the SLX 70 before the Curado was probably them answering that question.
  6. I know they released the SLX 70 "A" to add MGLIII and Silent Tune. I believe it's also now a true 70-size frame. The Curado MGL 70 K is several years old now and at MSRP I'd argue the SLX is a better buy. If so, any idea what features it would have over the SLX? Or will they even bother?
  7. Wow I moved here a couple years back and had no idea they stocked lakes with salmon. But I'm way down in south jersey so that's probably why I can't imagine salmon fishing here. I've gone salmon fishing on Lake Michigan and we stocked our freezer for months. How did it go?
  8. I was eyeing the Kistler, I have a Helium (toray blank) so was looking for this rod in that series but it appears they don't have it. But if the KLX is as light as you say then should be no need. I dig the short handle for the kayak.
  9. It's not really a secret sale today, they are labeling it as Doorbusters. 20% off Shimano, Daiwa, MB, and a couple others. Click Black Friday (which has great deals already posted ITT) and then click Doorbusters.
  10. I want an anchor set up this season. I have most of the components including an Anchor Wizard, but will also be getting the Navarre Anchor Mount for my Old Town. I fished fine enough without the anchor but there were definitely some days in the spring in particular where I wanted one. I have a ton of trouble fishing e.g. a jerkbait without being anchored in one place. One little nuisance about working on the kayak in the offseason... it's cold here in NJ so the kayak plastic isn't as malleable. It's actually "easier" to work on my kayak after setting it out in the warm sun during the season. Idk if it expands but it seems easier to horse it a little if things don't perfectly line up w/ aftermarket parts.
  11. Keep in mind that 15" is a TW measurement. They measure from top of the foregrip, most manufacturers (at least that I've seen) do not. So just a fair warning to be consistent on where you're reviewing handle lengths. But yes, the monocoque handles are longer. I'm also in the market for a jerkbait rod, I also fish from a kayak, and it's a bit of a concern for me as well. I really need to get one in hand. Try not be suckered into groupthink. I'm sure it's a fantastic rod, but that doesn't mean it's perfect for everyone.
  12. In my opinion you're likely overthinking it a bit. It's about taking the time to learn how to use whichever you use. Good news - there is no wrong choice. As both (or even a combination of them) are used in baitcasters then suffice to say both work. So with repeated practice and use you will understand how they function. You will develop muscle memory. I just started fishing several years ago. My first baitcaster was a Shimano SLX (centrifugal). I've since bought Daiwas with magnetic brakes. I still use both regularly. Again JMO, but I think you'll find the difference isn't as great as you might think. It's more about just learning how to cast a baitcaster in general. Controlled cast, thumb on the spool, apply pressure and especially just before lure hits the water. I learned everything from YouTube and practice, practice, practice. Is it nice having a 20-way adjustable dial on the outside of the reel to adjust brakes? Yea it is. But I learned on a Shimano that had only 6 little internal pins to adjust and came out just fine.
  13. It's $199. I imagine Megabass is setting that price for the retailers hence why they're all the same.
  14. Live look at the bait monkey calling in Orochi discounts to every single retailer I have an email inbox subscription with.
  15. I'm not knocking Kistler specifically because this is a strategy other manufacturers and retailers regardless of industry employ, but with the rods always "on sale"... are they really on sale? It feels deceptive to me if the item is never available at the "regular" price.
  16. I would pay you to take all the chain pickerel out of the lakes here in south jersey... so sick of them. They absolutely love spinnerbaits too. Found that out very quickly after moving here.
  17. Any specific hooks you guys like using for Zoom Horny Toads? I have a weighted screw lock but it seems to stretch the toad out quite a bit, and doesn't have a lot of gap. I believe it's the Owner Weighted Twistlock Light in 4/0, 3/32oz. Also, it seems like after I cast the toad stays under the surface far too long. I try to start reeling even before it enters the water but it will still submerge for awhile in the strike zone. Runs more like a wake bait. Using a 6'10" MH/MF with straight braid. What am I doing wrong? TIA
  18. I just snagged a (barely) used, 7'2 M/F Casting model at a nice discount, curious to try it out. Granted it's a "Moving Bait" model so sensitivity and balance aren't exactly paramount but we'll see. Not a Flex-Lite blank. Pairing it with a SV TW103 I also got on sale during the closeout.
  19. I use an MGL 150 for shallow-mid cranking. It slings 'em. I think I'm gonna grab a Curado M for deep cranking due to more line capacity. I liked my DC reel as a beginner, but now that I know how to cast well I sold it. Granted it was an SLX DC and they since have newer DC tech. If you know how to cast a baitcaster proficiently I personally don't think you're missing out.
  20. That's a shame as Dick's started as a fishing tackle shop (as many likely know on this board)
  21. Not sure if you watch any fishing channels on YouTube but DEBO's fishing is a popular channel, he's a Hawkeye in Iowa, and just dumped like 5 combos into the lake when he flipped his kayak recently lol
  22. Wow! It is crazy how fast things can turn on the water, good on you for thinking quickly. Will do. Might try to get up there this Sat/Sun but TBD if I will have time.
  23. Love to see it! I'm fishing Nockamixon for the first time in a few weeks. Fishing deeper structure will be fun as I'm typically across the river fishing shallow, dirty lakes in south jersey. But I know I'll fish the pads too... can't resist tying a frog on. Thinking I will put in at Haycock, I will be in a kayak.
  24. I have the Levante Perfect Pitch. However, I primarily use it for frogging and 6" magdrafts as it has a bit of a softer tip. Absolutely love it for both. Makes it an incredibly versatile rod. I'm sure many use it for jigs and enjoy it though. I believe the Levante line in general has (relatively) more of a moderate action than Orochi.
