Great stuff! Spartan fishing, love it. I sense disdain about the Torontonians! Hopefully as we get further into the park away from bank access the fishing gets better. I think I’m only bringing a 7’ M power spinning rod. Only travel rod I have, but should be plenty versatile.

Wow great thread with lots of valuable info. I am fishing the Algonquin Park lakes in a couple weeks, can’t wait to hopefully catch my first smallmouth.

I’m doing a 5 day canoe/camping trip with family up there. Have never caught a smallmouth in my life but I’ve been told they’re in the lakes. Apparently the outfitters have rods for rent but I’m bougie and want to bring my own. Thinking lots of small soft plastics.

I am also going to Ontario in a couple weeks and now I found this thread lol. Fishing the Algonquin Park lakes on a 4-5 day canoe/camp trip. Fortunately there will be smallies. Never had a travel rod and trying to decide between the Triza or Steez, or get two Kadens.

Dirty shallow water feels like I’m home in south jersey! Minus the cypress. Ike having a good tournament but struggling today. Just put in a preorder for the Karashi 80 also. Haven’t fished the smaller one, but I know it catches em. Went with ito wakasagi and the gold/black back. We’ll see!

Never fished a Loomis and at $450 it appears that streak will continue! They look sweet though.

How would you compare the Custom Pro vs SLX DC XT? I know you liked the SLX as seen in other threads. Curious about the braking comparison. I’m considering both (plus bates EDC), tempted by the 5.6oz weight of the Lew’s and the new braking system. But Shimano’s are Shimano’s…

Meanwhile Shimano jacked up the price of the Zodias B to $260. Obviously no one’s fished either yet but this appears to be well-played by MB. Doubt I’ll consider a Zodias.

I’m currently in South Jersey but moving to Nebraska in June. I am determined to fish the susky before I leave. World class smallmouth fishery, gotta give it a shot.

I don’t mind a tough tournament every now and then, it’s fun to see the best in the world struggle at times. A bit like golf in that sense to me. But I turned it on and saw Zaldain using FFS on a laydown. Different strokes for different folks, it’s just not for me. And I’m native with tech, born in the 90’s. Hope my team does well but I’ll catch the next one.

Have they always had the primary broadcast simulcast to their YouTube for Day 4? This is great, so much easier/better quality than dealing with my TV’s web browser. I guess it’s on FS1 too but I almost never pull up live TV anymore.

The Reddit thread you linked is a guy complaining about an old model before the revamp (it appears). So not only doesn’t seem fair to me, but completely irrelevant for 2026.

I take too much. A Buzbe 3700 of soft plastics and a 3700 of hard baits. 6-7 rods. I am still a beginner so I fall victim to “if I just had this one lure, or that one color”… when in reality I should be focused more on locating fish, and my technique with whatever I do carry. Can’t get myself to bring less but I know I probably should.

They had a 25% off Spring Sale last year but IIRC it was on pre-selected items, not sitewide. I am losing my mind not being able to fish so the 15% off will have to do. Monkey wins.
