  1. The original lakes are a part of a watershed that does not allow kayaking, so unfortunately i am not allowed to go out on them. Oh awesome! I am moving to glassboro in september, so i will have to try some of these spots out! Ok, so the lake that is in question right now i have not seen in person yet, however i have looked at the navionics map and the deepest it gets is 90’. I probably wouldnt even go near this part as that is very deep. And luckily i do have a sonar, so i wouldnt be going totally blind. What is thermocline? Oradell is close to me, but they have been treating it for algae and the water has dropped, so i have not noticed many fish within reach of the shore. I am looking into new lakes to fish, around the west milford area. I only have 1.5 months left to fish here, so i am trying to cram in as much as i can lol
  2. What part of south jersey? i have a fish finder, so i should be able to identify depths and fish.
  3. lakes near me have dropped in depth too much, and the fish have gone too deep. I cant launch a kayak, so i am looking into new spots. Wanted to kayak on a new lake, and the deepest it gets is 90’. Im used to fishing weightless senkos, which obviously would not work in this situation. What are good ways to fish the deeper water? Dropshots? Forgot to mention, i think there are lmb, smb, pickerel, musky, and walleye Hoe about 20-50 feet?
  4. Birdsnest is though, lol.
  5. Also, would i need a leader for these? Or at least a swivel?
  6. You guys ever have problems with line twist though? I used a texas rigged senko and i cast it out, then when it gets closer to me sometimes i just reel it in, and this twists the main line pretty bad
  7. I have two rods, one with 10 lb mono and another with braid, with braid i always use a leader, but with the mono do i have to? I use a fluoro leader which i know induces the bait to sink, which could be a problem when throwing topwater? And if i dont use a leader, should i use a swivel or just attach to the main line, just because i dont want my line to twist
  8. Ahhh ok. I actually use a fish finder so i know the structure of the bottom, but it can still be hard to find the fish, especially restricted to the bank
  9. I contacted the company that owns the lake and they are treating it for algae that has grown, it is not harmful, just present. He said that the water level dropped because people are using so much water to water their gardens, etc. In a previous topic i asked about the water treatment plant on the lake, turns out its just to distribute water to the surrounding community. They stated that they have had reports of people catching wipers, which i have never caught before
  10. Unfortunately i will probably be restricted to the bank, but maybe an upper classmen will be willing to drive? Assuming that i have access to a kayak and reliable transportation, what would you recommend?
  11. Lake oradell in nj has had a steep decline recently, in the past 2 weeks it has dropped about 3 feet and today i have noticed excess algae. They actually posted at the gate that they are treating it for algae, and i have not found bass since then. The baitfish and bluegill/crappies are absolutely still there, but i have not noticed any bass or carp. Because of the algae, would they escape into the connecting rivers?
  12. This is seeming to be a common occurrence with anyone i talk to. For me, i have caught some of my biggest fish around noon, but its very circumstantial. By 1 the bite definitely takes a hit for me.
  13. I know right
  14. Awesome!! How do you know which side would be cooler? The area that i started fishing was shallow, but if you walked to the right/headed to the north of the lake, it gets about 10-14 feet deep within casting distance, and it stays like this for a while. I assumed there would be some life there, but there were no bass.
  15. I will be going to Rowan University next year, and was wondering if anyone knows of any good fishing near there? I dont care what i would catch, as long as it is something. Pm me if you want
  16. You werent kidding, its a lot of walking. I have found the bait fish numerous times but this does not always mean any bass are around. Today for example, i found a bunch of shoreline points where the baitfish were, but could not pick up anything on my fish finder. I only got one hit all day on the sonar, and i think it was a crappie because it was small. I have caught a few largemouths in the res, but never a smallmouth or wiper.
  17. Thats the exact brand of jigs i have for it, lol
  18. Went to my local lake, and for the past week or two the water level has dropped significantly. In the video below, i am standing where the water should be, it should go all the way up to the dirt at the end of the video. Anyways, i used my fish finder on the lake and did not pick up a single bass, and i walked along the shore for 30 minutes. There were plenty of baitfish around, and even baby bass, but no adults. Could they have gone deep?
  19. I have only gone for stripers at night, being in the woods at night seems a little daunting to be honest lol
  20. I guess its all just personal preference! Its hard to wake up but i like it better in the morning, less buggy as well and the fish are still shallow from overnight (i think)
  21. Thats not a bad idea, however it does not show up. Its not a very public lake
  22. Where can i find that?? Overnight?? What makes you say that
  23. Dont want to spot burn
  24. For sure! Do you think any fish would be deeper?
  25. Lol, is that better? Last time i was there i caught most of the fish in this corner. There is a big boulder that sticks out of the water and there were bass and chain pickerel hiding there
