Fishing rod
Just the main thing that i want is that it is sensitive so i feel bites, but it wont break on a bigger fish. This would ultimately be my all around lake rod, which would be bass, pickerel, and possibly carp too

Fishing rod
i have thought about it a bit more and i think my budget will top around 100. The daiwa arid x seems like a good option but what about the st croix triumph? I dont know any of these rods very well so if anyone has anything to say feel free

Are clips worth using
Do you tie it to just that end clip or you use the barrel swivel connected to that? I know i have seen eagle claw packs of them with the swivels

Are clips worth using
Are speed clips worth using? I want to be avle to switch lures quickly without having to retie every time, is a speedclip worth it? I use lures ranging from a whopper plopper to paddletails, would the clip take away the action of the lure?

Fishing rod
Well at first i thought my budget would be that, but i said it was tbd. I would consider all options and i kind of want something nicer so i dont end up having to upgrade down the line Sorry for any confusion

Fishing rod
Its either that or i buy a new one on black friday Yeah its definitely a good deal, but only problem is its a baitcaster. Is it worth learning how to use a baitcaster? Also, could i just put a spinning reel on it anyways? Ahh ok i just saw your reply to that question Another problem with the rod, its rated for 14-65 pounds, which ithink would be much too heavy for my application right?

Fishing rod
Also, is it possible that the rod can be used for both spinning reels and baitcast reels?

Fishing rod
The warranty still applies!? That was my worry that it wouldnt. I will keep an eye out! Found a 7’3” st croix victory medium heavy fast action for 120 plus 10 shipping. Is that worth it???

Fishing rod
Ok, that sounds good!! US made is better, but not a deal breaker tbh. Sounds like the victory line is pretty good, i will probably go with it
-
Fishing rod
Yeah, for sure, its only a month away, my current setup will do just fine until then. But when i do go through with buying it the victory series is a good option?

Fishing rod
Im thinking of getting the st croix, i dont really want to have to upgrade after, i want something a little bit higher quality. That being said, any recommendations on which one specifically? Right now i have my eye on the mojo bass spinning rod

Fishing rod
Definitely. The daiwa arid x seems like a viable option, but if given an option between that and a st croix rod what would you choose? Either way i think i will get a medium fast action 7’ rod. Also, is a 1 piece rod much different from a 2 piece?

Crappie rigs
Lol definitely disagree

I feel like a little dropshot could work?

Tips on pickerel fishing?
Less pressure in your spots huh? How far north? I have those, kind of small tho? I think its 4.5 inches. I tried it at the lake and didnt get anything, i guess i shouldve reeled it in faster

Crappie rigs
I have caught some crappie before, usually when going for other panfish, just not the most consistent bite for me. Caught them on spoons or spinners, but never actually eaten them. I cant imagine there is much meat? And its white meat, similar to like a sea bass? Not the biggest fan of plain meat, i like salmon

Fishing rod
How does that compare to an ugly stik? Is there much of a difference between high end rods and an ugly stik? Also, what action should i get? I was thinking a 6’6” - 7’ rod, maybe medium action? The fish i catch range from .5 lbs to 8 pounds, i want it to have the sensitivity to have a good fight with the smaller fish while having the backbone to handle anything 5 pounds and up

Crappie rigs
How do you know what depth?

Tips on pickerel fishing?
Oh wow. Im hoping there are some decent ones!!! Just downstream i caught a 20” fish, and the baitfish just were seeming to go crazy in the lake

Fishing rod
I like that idea!! Do any online stores have good sales? I wasxthinking of ordering from bass proshops because i also have other fishing stuff to order as well. Also, what rod should i get? And if they are on sale i can get a better rod

Crappie rigs
I will definitely try this. Seems to work pretty well I never understand how to use bobbers with a jig, hos do you know where to set the bobber?? I have little trout magnet strike indicators, those should work right?

Tips on pickerel fishing?
Great tips. I will try a heavier leader, and will also cast out some flashy spoons. Thinking of buying the johnson silver minnow, seems like a good all around lure. Can go through weeds or open water, doesnt matter. If that fails i am most certainly trying minnows. Whats the rig of choice for that? The lake is very calm and the majority of the commotion from bait fish are hugging the edges of grasslines and banks. I will however probably try to fish as many areas of the lake as i can all from the shoreline

Fishing rod
Budget is tbd, but ideally i would consider 30-80. Any recommendations will be considered tho. I dont really have a percentage, i just switch it up based on what i feel will work. I mainly fish from the bank, but occasionally i go out on my kayak. Should be made for bank fishing tho. I also live in a dorm room, i can fit a 1 piece pole, but i get less stares in the hallways if i can split it in half and put it in my backpack. i have looked at st croix rods and could possibly consider getting one, if they are worth it Definitely worth considering, but my budget isnt too tight, i want something that is considered an upgrade so i wont have to do that in the near future. What did you end up upgrading to from that rod? The rod and reel combo is a penn fierce 3 6,6” medium light xtra fast rod, the reel is 2000

Tips on pickerel fishing?
Also, i use 10 lb braid, which i recognize is not ideal. I will place an order for fishing stuff soon, should i get a bigger leader? I doubt i will have the opportunity to fish for them that much so im not looking to spend a lot

Crappie rigs
What is a foolproof crappie rig? I found a lake that has them supposedly, but i suck at catching them. I used a little jighead with a little minnow looking soft plastic, but it just kept getting snagged. Small lake, and it definitely has bass or pickerel. I used a top water frog over the lilly pads and it got slammed, so i will try to catch bass or pickerel in there. But i also want to focus on crappie, it will be on the shoreline if that makes a difference. The spot is pressured, so they might be a little hesitant to bite
