Fishing kayak

Fishing kayak
Yeah i think you are right. Are they as sturdy as sit in though? Like would you feel comfortable riding it in the bay at night? I think that is probably something i would end up using it for. also, i will be in college, and i might find myself wanting to use it in the bay during the school year. Obviously, i dont have anywhere to store it. Is there a way to lock it on top of my car? I dont think i could…

Pike and smallmouth bass passaic river
d**n!! I am at college but planned to fish it when i get home, maybe 12/21-12/23, then anytime after christmas until jan 15. I probably wouldnt launch the kayak much, but know a few spots that i want to try shoreline fishing. People have been telling me that they are biting on the jerkbait, and i ordered a few. Very excited to see how that turns out, but if its frozen i probably cant fish it. Anyone know a good spot to fish in the winter?

Fishing kayak
Great advice everyone, i guess it is important to know my use for it as well. I will be using it on any lake near me, as well as bay fishing for stripers, so it needs to be steady. Transporting isnt a problem, i have pool noodles attached to cam straps on my roof, then i secure it with ratchet straps on top. I have driven over 2.5 hours and it didnt budge, so id say its safe to assume its secure. I also have a cart i made for it out of an egg crate, metal rod, and 2 wheels. Works perfect, i just strap it with the ratchet straps that i use to secure it onto the car. The hardest thing is getting it up, especially alone, and my kayak at the moment is really big. Its a keowee 2 seater, and is fun to use with a friend, but not ideal. Looking to sell that and use the money towards a fishing kayak. I dont think ill be able to find a peda kayak, but thats ok, i just need a good reliable and sturdy kayak that can take some waves. I will definitely look into the options you all listed, thanks. If any one nearby wants to sell theirs or something, dm me. Or if you find any deals in my area, i live in bergen county, please shoot me a message

How much was that pedal option for the feel free?

Gotcha. Do you know when it all starts freezing over? I want to launch my kayak next week sometime near the piece meadow

Lake hopatcong
Wow i could definitely see some merit to your comment. However,,, someone i follow on fishbrain caught a 6.5 lb lmb behind dows marina on a glidebait, a deps 250. It seems like it would be tough, but potentially rewarding. I have yet to catch a walleye or musky, but im thinking of hitting greenwood for walleye. Thats pressured too tho, so I dont know. I have no idea where i can find musky, or a decent lmb. I usually fish lake oradell and the biggest i got was 3 lb. I am restricted to only shore or kayak unfortunately, if you have any other recommendations dm me. I live in bergen county but im willing to drive.

Pike and smallmouth bass passaic river
Yeah i do plan on hitting it in the spring, but its winter now. I go to college so i am only really home on breaks. The perch would probably be whatever i can catch on a small pheobe or kastmaster

Fishing kayak
Yeah for sure. Is a pedal kayak doable in my budget? I am just hoping there will be a good deal on marketplace, but i doubt it

Fishing kayak
Hey everyone, looking for a fishing kayak, i currently have a keowee2, but it sucks. I want to get a kayak and turn it into something usable for fishing. Preferably under 500 for everything, which wont be that much. Mainly just the kayak and any necessary upgrades. Is it possible to get a pedal kayak? Or if i can get it used, that would probably be better

Pike and smallmouth bass passaic river
Thats true i guess, i just dont want to lose chances at bass, but ill try it out. What leader should i get? Size and everything i guess does it change the way the lure presents itself?

Lake hopatcong

Pike and smallmouth bass passaic river
I actually do have some underspins, i will for sure throw that. Do you think that this will deter fish from biting? Either smb or pike?
-
Pike and smallmouth bass passaic river
Hey everyone, looking to catch some smb and pike out of the passaic, i will launch my kayak and explore some sections of it. I will for sure try a ned rig, maybe a paddle tail. I also want to try catching pike with some perch, as someone has told me that once had actually eaten his as he was reeling it in.

Gotcha, i will probably just buy cheap reels from now on so i can trash them

Winter bass shoreline fishing
I suppose. Looking to get a ned rig, what exactly did you get? Where do i find their food source in a freshwater lake?
-
Surf setup for stripers
Yeah that’s probably a good idea to buy cheap ones, i will probably just do that, i an clumsy and i know i will end up dropping it in the sand eventually

Winter bass shoreline fishing
Anyone have luck in winter fishing from the shoreline for largemouth bass? Or do they all retreat to the deep water

Surf setup for stripers
Dang i can understand that. Im just mad because i had braid on my reel, and expensive braid at that, and when i went fishing last the pocket i was fishing had a lot of fish, so a lot of people funneled in. Someone with trebles snagged my line, frayed it very far up, and then because it was tangled asked ME to cut it off and retie. He was able to get back in the water while i had to reite, then i found the fray very high up in the line. In the meantime i just did a double uni, but it ticked me off. and to answer someone elses question, i understand that a sealed reel is very expensive, just looked at the prices the other day. Ridiculous amount of money unfortunately. I will probably go with the saltx or penn as stated above. What is a good size/rating?

Surf fishing diy
Yeah that was exactly my point, when you are out in the water. Im surprised its the sand as opposed to the water, i know they are both bad

Surf fishing diy
Any innovations surf fisherman have created or thought of that help out a lot while fishing in waders? i specifically ask for something that will hold my rod up while i am in the water, like if i have to untangle the line from the top of my rod tip. It can be really easy to just put the butt of it down, submerging my reel. Any tips?

Surf setup for stripers
Been looking at the reels, definitely out of my price range. I am however considering a daiwa bg spinnjng reel, and the penn battle 2. For rods i still have to look more, same with the reels. I will probably get one thats just meant for saltwater bc i dont have enough to pay for the water sealed ones. Also, how do you make sure the reel does not go in the water while wading in the ocean? I found it very easy while out to set the pole down in the water, in turn submerging my reel.
