  1. Hey all, i am currently looking for a new surf rod, but i also am in need of a reel. I havent look at prices much, and i dont want to think about it lol. Ideally less than 200 if possible with what im looking for. I want something waterproof, as a fisherman i notice i dunk my reel in the water too often, and i know this is terrible for the reel. I have a penn fierce 4000 series right now. It will probably be paired with some sort of a 10 foot surf rod, still to be determined. I will use it on the beach surf fishing, mainly for stripers,
  2. Exactly the ugly stik is nice, its got backbone. Can whip baits out, but walking that popper was such a pain i ended up switching to the paddletail after a few casts. Yeah looking for a surf rod, and i want 2 pieces. I can probably spend up to 200, would you recommend the st croix or something else? And i ideally want something i will be content with for a while. I dont want to have to upgrade after this Really?? Whats it rated for
  3. Hey guys, just started gettinhr into stiper fishing, and after this past fall run im addicted. I have been using a 10ft ugly stik bigwater, but its just way too bulky for my liking. I have been recommended a penn carnage, but it seems a little pricy. I would be willing to spend it, but i wanted to know if anyone has any other recommendations? I will be fishing from beaches and bays using sp minnows, 6 inch shads, stuff of that natire. As well as poppers. Budget is tbd, but ultimately around 150. I will hear any suggestions tho.
  4. Anyone get in on the fall run these past few weeks in nj? Also to note, this was my limit and my friends, we got a tag. I caught all three before he caught a keeper, so that was our limit
  5. Hey, so i live near a lake called lake oradell, and i have caught some fat 3 pounders in there, usually on a 5 inch senko. They just seem to like that the most, the bait fish in there are very healthy, leading to a very healthy population of fat bass. I know that there are some bigger fish in there, i just have yet to catch them. Unfortunately i cant fish it as much as i like because im in college, but iver winter and summer break i am home. The lake only allows shore access, severely limiting the amount of water i can cover. Anyone come up with any innivative ways to get out to the deeper water? I am kind of considering getting an rc boat, there is one at basspro shops for like 30 dollars, but it doesnt have a feature to drop anything. Any ideas? i am looking to catch the most fish, and once i start catching them target the bigger ones, so i am considering upsizing my baits, i plan to try a 10 “ worm as well as a big spinner bait, but i havent fully decided yet. Whatever i tie on i will use i guess. Any ideas?
  6. I have heard that the stretch from the water gap to milford beach has musky and walleye and is good thru the winter. How do i fish fof them? I am assuming deep diving crankbaits would work for both?
  7. I go to college in south jersey/glassboro and started fishing the local waterways. I found a lake called greenwich lake which has bass, bowfin and snakeheads. Supposedly everything gets big, and the lmb can reach 8 pounds. Only problem is they are very pressured, so they most likely wont bite what i am throwing. Any tips on how to catch finnicky bass? I was considering catching little bluegill and livelining them, but how would i even catch them? I went the other day with a spinner paired with a keitech paddle tail, caught a 2 lber and a 1lber, will definitely go again but i want a chance at catching the big ones as well as just more fish. I also have never caught a bowfin or snakehead, so they are on my list
  8. I am thinking if doing a fishing guide in lake champlain, any recommendations for that?
  9. Hey everyone, my friends uncle lives in barnet vermont and he invited me to go and fish. What is good around there? I noticed a few small ponds, but i also noticed the connecticut river. According to fishbrsin there are willeye, smb, pickerel and pike. Anything else notable? What works there? also, does anyone know any guides near the area? I want yo have at least one day where we can big game fish, doesnt matter what
  10. I will most likely try it, but i doubt ill do well
  11. Awesome! Do you go from the bank or do you kayak in? Is it viable to wade in? Any recommendations on specific jerk baits?
  12. Yeah, it definitely would be a challenge to fish it. I was hoping walleye would be further down, but ill target them eventually. I was thinking abt the feeder streams, i just dont have a kayak so its hard to find certain spots with good shore access
  13. Ahhh ok. How about the 2.8 inch keitech?
  14. Great advice. I have not done this that much, but i will for sure. Also, i have heard that downsizing a keitech from 4” to 2.8” will get more bites, and elephants do eat peanuts. Could that help as well? What would you throw if it were you?
  15. Hey everyone, i currently go to school in glassboro, which is near the delaware river. I have heard of walley and snakeheads in the delaware river, but have yet to try it. I dont get much time to explore while in school, but im looking forward to trying it. I have never heard of or caught a walleye in the river, thought they were only in big lakes. Anyone have any tips? Dm me if you want, anything helps
  16. Oh yeah i think i was talking to you on fishbrain a little while back lol. Yeah the lake is in west milford, but its private so you have to know the owners to fish it. Loaded with dinks, 2lbers, so i think there are some bigger fish out there. I think im going to catch a small bluegill and live line it, just see what happens while i work a keitech
  17. Yeah i thought so, but i figured if you upgrade it upgrades your chances but i will just keep on trying, one of tjem has to bite eventually
  18. Hey, i found this secluded lake in northern nj and it is filled with bass and pickerel, but they are all 2 pounds or less. I know there are giants in there somewhere, how do i target them? Last time i webt i used a 4 inch keitech and a white with a silver vlade spinnerbait, with a white trailer, that is what caught the most fish. I want to look for just the bigger ones, how do i do it I had access to it 3 years ago and this was my first time ever fishing, so instead of holding the fish i took the picture of it in the bucket. Its a big bucket, i think he was big but i might be wrong.
  19. also i am looking for spinnerbaits and their subsequent trailers, but i have no idea what to look for. How do i know what size hook and weight to choose
  20. I am using the two types of keitechs pictured below, 4 inches, one is a swing impact. What size hook do i need, there are options of 1/0 3/0 5/0 and 6/0, i have one similar without the blade that is 3/0 and it works well, so that is what i am thinking of getting.
  21. Good to know! It shouldnt be hot so i will keep them in my trunk. They are the cheap waders made of rubber so i will be careful in heat
  22. Can i store my waders in my car? I will be parked in a parking garage overnight and then probably an uncovered lot during the day, is it practical to keep my waders in my trunk? I love in south jersey and it will just be until thanksgiving, so the temperature shouldnt go above 70, it will more likely be around 50.
  23. Really?? Thats awesome. What do you use for them?
  24. What is high sticking??
