  1. Probably because they were the best and cheapest, and some corporate big wigs said we can't make money like this, and axed it
  2. Tackle warehouse exclusive color, good thing you stocked up because they're on backorder
  3. Definitely a shoutout for VMC, these trebles on my Rapala shallow shad are sticky
  4. This is what Im talking about with the ewg's, how the point extends past the eye and doesnt line up with it. Most ewg's are like kahle hooks, and I think that can cause missed hook sets. But I know a lot of people swear by them. I'll have to give these a try
  5. I was going to mention that about the Trokar's, Ive heard others say this about the triangular point vs conical
  6. I totally agree, the infinite choices is absolutely a detriment, and one should fish how they like to fish and have fun. I'm trying to simplify my offerings to how I like to fish and still catch fish, on a consistent basis
  7. Never heard of Ryugi, will have to check them out Looking at the Ryugi's, I like how the point extends beyond the eye on the EWG's. I dont use EWG's because the hook point lines up with the eye
  8. Those Trokar hooks do look razor sharp
  9. This is what we're dealing with in my neck of the woods. Warm today, then way colder tomorrow. Then skipping spring and going straight to 20+ above average
  10. You can make a good breading with 50/50 corn meal or corn flour and all purpose flour, and add whatever seasoning you prefer. I add salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder

I think your hook is one of the most important parts of a fishing setup. If you're using an inferior/ dull hook, it can cost you fish. I prefer Owner and Gamakatsu hooks. From the hooks that I have tried, these seem to be the sharpest and stay sharp, most of the time. What do you fellas think are the best hooks?
  12. I think shallow spots next to deep spots can produce year round. It can give the fish a better way to regulate body temperature. If they start to get too hot or cold, they can swim up or down. Also has something to do with the bait. But anywhere theres shallow water near a steep dropoff, could be a prime fishing spot
  13. That's crazy, yeah, bass can swim way faster than what most think, if they really want it, they're going to get it These are the hooks I'm going to try using with the nightcrawlers, I'll probably try hooking it in the middle like a wacky rig and see what happens. #8 Gamakatsu circle hooks, dont let the size fool you. Theyre very sharp, stay sharp, and Ive landed 7 lb channel cats with this hook. Theyre also great for catching bluegill for live bait rigging, its so sticky sharp, Ive caught 2 inch bluegills with it
  14. Im growing some European nightcrawlers, theyre getting bigger and reproducing. Need to get some sifters for the castings. I plan on dropshotting them on a little circle hook at sunset to try and keep the gills off
  15. I have an inflatable to use on ponds and places that dont allow gas motors where I live, my buddy and I can fit comfortably on lawn chairs. I've had the same pair of Eagle Claw needle nose pliers for as long as I can remember, as long as I have a pair of needle noses Im good. I also have to have scissors when I fish, I use mono and may retie quite a bit. I bring a plastic lure box with the clamps instead of a whole tackle box to save space. I also use a dumbell with rope for an anchor. And a cooler for drinks and snacks and if I keep fish to eat. Theres a plastic pouch on the inflatable to keep stiff in but I dont use it
  16. Geeeez, it was right there in front of me the whole time, thank you
  17. Gotta figure how the bait is acting in cold water. Usually SLOWWWWWW
  18. What retrieve do you use most with the rat l trap? Do you use various retrieves until you find what they like that day, or have success with one particular retrieve over others? Im throwing the mini trap tomorrow at the pond
  19. Everything loves to eat shrimp. Just made some salted garlic shrimp for my bluegill bait this year. Ive read that a large part of a male crappie diet around the spawn will consist of malacostrocans, think I spelled that right. Could be the same with bass, not sure if they prefer freshwater shrimp at certain times of year, but have read that bass in tidal areas will develop a taste for saltwater shrimp. Pro Cure makes a freshwater shrimp gel I believe
  20. Okay, definitely using the traps more this year
  21. I have a bunch of Rat l Traps and Mini traps I need to use more, but my buddy has had a lot of success with the Strike King Red Eyed shad, it has a wobble to it on the fall so probably best used with and up and down or stop and go retrieve. But Rat l Traps are hand painted and made in USA
  22. I can't stand to read catfisherman comments about using 10 lb bass for cat bait, don't know if theyre joking or not but wouldnt surprise me. I know one guy uses big crappie live as cat bait, seems like a waste of good fillets to me
  23. All is see is a FB, IG and YT symbol, and below that is my profile pic
  24. Those Texans got it right, T rig is probably the fish catchingest fish catcher of all lures, it's relatively snag proof, can be fished at all depths, and a fish will hold a soft plastic longer generally, can be rigged with almost unlimited profiles, whats not to love. I still love slangin crankbaits tho, getting those reaction strikes
  25. Where IS the search button, I still cant find it, lol
