  1. Yes Russ, that's me. Sorry I forgot to write in. Been slammed at work, and been out of town. My wife helped me put that stuff together. Please let me know if you need anything else. - Matt PS. sorry about the carrier. I just recently found out you work for the big brown machine ;D
  2. This last Saturday all of my usual haunts were flooded. All of the ramps at Lake Lewisville and Ray Bob were under water. So, I was forced to drive out to Lake Fork. Total bummer It was actually a beautiful day and we didn't get a drop of rain. Life is rough. - Matt
  3. I design and develop proprietary software for small and medium sized businesses. Since I am part owner of the company I work for, I am always thinking about programming when I am fishing, and thinking about fishing when I am programming. - Matt
  4. Dinks? So those numbers, those are ounces right? - Matt
  5. I usually fish from a boat, however, I occasionally hit the bank during the week after work when it is too much hassle to fool with the boat. I used to cart several rods and my tackle box along but I got tired of that noise pretty quick. Now what I do is grab my favorite spinning reel and load up my cargo shorts with senkos and a small box with spare hooks, sinkers and a few cranks and jigs. I like this setup cause I'm not carrying anything around except my rod and it allows me to focus on just a few techniques. - Matt
  6. Hmmmmmm. Texas has many fine lakes. I'd say a couple of uninterupted days on Lake Fork, or maybe Amistad would be pretty dern cool. Come to think of it though, that trip I had last month fishing for Peacock Bass on Lake Wilson in Hawaii is gonna be hard to beat. - Matt
  7. No doubt. Just ask your girlfriend DUDE!!!! Avid, First of all, careful with that girlfriend talk, my wife visits this site too. Second, the ladies like me cause I'm a sensitive and caring guy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. - Matt
  8. ;D Dude, you should re-read Avid's post. I'm pretty sure you missed his double entendre. - Matt
  9. Size. Apparently it matters. - Matt
  10. Welcome! This site rocks, doesn't it. - Matt
  11. Well, the anniversary of D Day rolled around and I spend the evening on my butt watching several documentaries on the invasion of Normandy. I couldn't help thinking of you and all of the brothers and sisters in arms. Thank you all for your service. Prayers to you and your family. - Matt
  12. ;D I don't even want to know what color the Montezuma's Revenge worm is. Nor am I sure I want to know what kind of fish would eat that. - Matt
  13. Hey Catt, You were fishing where?!? Is that a typo, of just what the locals call it! Sounds like you were fishing in a dump. ;D - Matt
  14. Now that's just cruel. I think Brookie was looking for a humane way to kill the fish! ;D
  15. I'm back from my trip to Oahu. What a beautiful place. We did and saw so many cool things it would take me too long to recall. However, the part of the trip that still stands out in my mind is me catching MY FIRST PEACOCK BASS!!! ;D What a cool fish that is. Aggressive and strong, not to mention beautiful. I ended up boating 3 during our half day trip on Lake Wilson. (a fourth one wiggled off the hook as I was about to boat it.) Ok, so here are some pics. This is the beautiful Lake Wilson. This is my first Peacock Bass!!! A few minutes later, I caught this male guarding the nest. This last pic is me returning him to his bed. It was a calm day and the water was nice and clear. You could see him zip right back to the nest. Pound for pound, Peacock Bass sure are strong. And they aren't shy around a boat. Chris Wright from Hawaii Bass Fishing was our guide. I highly recommend these folks. Very knowledgable and they know the lake backwards and forwards. Next time I go, I'll try for some barracuda as well. - Matt
  16. While the quote you posted totally rocks, it is not from an Austrialian Dentist. Here is the story: http://www.snopes.com/rumors/america2.htm
  17. OK, that third picture down looks like it was taken in the early 70's! ;D Seriously though, nice fish. I hope you enjoyed your Lake Fork experience. - Matt

Does anyone here use a trailor hook on their trailor hook? ;D - Matt
  19. Well, if the question was, 'Favorite Musician', then I would answer with a resounding Bob Dylan. He just kicks all sorts of musical ***. But the question was 'Favorite Band'. So my answer would have to be Pink Floyd. I just can't get enough of David Gilmour's bluesy guitar. - Matt
  20. Oh, so I guess the Prius is out then... oh well. ;D
  21. Glenn, that why I chose Oahu over the other islands. I have spent the last several years in an intense study of WWII (when I'm not fishin). I hold that generation of Americans in awe for what they accomplished. Thanks for the advice! - Matt
  22. Here in Texas, we call that fishing without a shirt.
  23. Here, Here!! It's important to not live with regret. It's okay to look back and reflect, but don't dwell on regrets. Always look ahead. After failing over 100 times to get his new invention the lightbulb working, Thomas Edison is credited for noting that he had just discovered over 100 different ways NOT to invent the lightbulb. He always looked ahead, learned from his mistakes and took it in stride. Good for you for going to College! - Matt
  24. I have caught many fish off of Cotton Cordell's Crazy Shad (Chrome) and Heddon's Magnum Torpedo. Both are cheap but are effective, for me anyway. Now I watched my granddad catch tons of bass off of a Dalton Special he bought back in the 50's. After he passed I got all his fishing stuff, but I won't fish that Dalton Special. I'm too afraid to lose it. - Matt
  25. I don't know. I don't think it is a snake at all. Looks a bit like a trial lawyer.
