Yamamoto at Walmart
I got a few. I just don't use Senkos much anymore. I guess I have a reason to now.

Favorite game meat..
I think the divers stick mainly to the lakes so I'll just stick to hunting ponds.

Favorite game meat..
I went waterfowl hunting for the first time yesterday and I have a new favorite wild game. This Mallard tasted like steak! I'm hooked!

2022 Duck Hunt
It was awesome. We had several hundred fly over and called a few in. I let the experienced guys handle all of the calling.

Favorite fish for tacos...
Mahi or grouper. For fish that I can actually catch: channel cat or white bass. Blackened is the way to go.

2022 Duck Hunt
It's been years since I've done any hunting. Went waterfowl hunting with some friends for the first time yesterday and had an absolute blast! I got three drake mallards and a Canada goose.

Keitech Fat
I don't fish the FAT impacts but for the regular 4" impact I've had good luck on sexy shad in clear water. I think any natural color would be pretty good. If the water is heavily stained to muddy I'm throwing a spinnerbait instead.

Favorite stickbait brands, sizes, and colors?
Senkos are the best but I've probably caught the most on Strike King Shim-E-Sticks. Dingers are good too. Green pumpkin black flake.

I got a couple on a Keitech today. Extra slow rolled just over the bottom. Both were very subtle bites. I also found a KVD 1.0 square bill that I lost a month ago on a lay down. I managed to snag it with my swim bait and reel it in.

They had a few other colors at that price that were wiped out. The only ones I saw still in stock were green pumpkin and watermelon red magic.

Haha, visibility in this strip pit was down to 8-10" three weeks ago, then it completely froze over around Christmas. It just opened back up in the last week and visibility is back up to about 6'.

Just went out for about 45 minutes and got my first two fish of the year. Both were 1.25lb. It was my first time fishing a swim bait and first catches on the new SLX. Keitech Swing Impact on a 1/4 oz Berkeley Fusion head

Super cheap gems
Another big fan of the 7' MH/F Hank Parker casting rod. Mine is paired up with a solid Lew's LFS. For budget spinning I've had a Daiwa Legalis 3000 for a couple of years that's still really smooth. I picked it up on sale for $48 and put it on a 6'6" M Berkeley lightning rod. I just picked up a Shimano SLX on sale this week for $39. I really like my LFS but I think the SLX the best reel under $100 by far. It's the smoothest reel I own and can cast a 1/4oz T-rig at least 40 yards. It really feels like a much more expensive reel. I have it on a Hank Parker MH/F but I'm getting a 7'3" Aird-X for it soon. I like it so well that I think my next reel will be a SLX XT. I've been the least impressed with a Daiwa Tatula CT that I purchased used. It casts well and the brakes offer great control but it has the clunkiest retrieve out of any of my reels. I probably need to give a new one a try. There are a lot of great budget options out there, you just have to sift through the junk.

What lure caught your largest bass in 2022 ?
Green pumpkin Arkie 3/8oz jig with a watermelon red Yum wooly bug trailer. A close second was a Florida bass Heddon Super Spook Jr.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I wasn't planning on getting another reel right now but DSG had the Shimano SLX for 60% off! It feels way smoother than my LFS and Tatula CT and it casts easier around the yard too. The best $39.98 reel ever made. Period.

Your License(s) Costs
Kansas resident hunt and fish without trout stamp is $47. Oklahoma non-resident fish is around $45. If I trout fish it's in Missouri and around $12 per day (I usually just go for one weekend).

I had zero intentions of buying a new reel today but... I guess I'll have my first SLX soon. Get em while they're hot!

Winter is coming...
Well I checked a few local strip pits that had no ice at all last weekend but they were completely iced over except for one little spot by a dam. I pitched a drop shot in there a few times but the cold got to me after about 20 minutes and I headed home. Sorry for the picture quality. The forum only allows me 1.46mb per post.

Winter is coming...
It's 9 degrees here but my daughter is at my dad's house and I have a little free time. I might need to go for about an hour until my guides freeze up and have me questioning my sanity.
