There is a tradition in the Army in which a newly promoted officer gives a silver dollar to the first enlisted Soldier to salute him/her. I have a collected four silver dollars this way, and every one of them is dated 1972. What is the significance? Are they just easier to find than others?
  2. And missed field goals!
  3. Thank you to Chris at Tech! He hooked me up with: Two bags of Hag's Tornados (5" and 6.5"). I can't wait to try these. They look like an awesome Carolina rig bait. A bag of Magnum Trick Worms. I'm a big fan of Trick Worms, but for some reason I haven't tried the Magnums. A bag of Gambler swimbaits. These will definately see some action when I go to Oklahoma this spring. A One Knocker lipless crankbait. I've been wanting to try the One Knocker, but I have so many Red Eye Shads and Rattle Traps that I haven't been able to talk myself into buying any. Now I have no excuse! Also included was a pack of Scrounger heads and two jigs. Thanks Chris! I hope you like your gifts as much as I like mine!
  4. Same here! My brother and I had a few dozen minnows that we were planning to use for crappie fishing at the lake, but for some reason we decided to stop at the pond en route. We caught a bunch of small bass, and I was ready to go. I didn't like wasting all our minnows on those dinks, but my brother was having fun, and he talked me into staying for a little longer. I was bored with the live bait fishing, so I picked up a baitcaster and tied on one of those cheap, $1.00 Wal-Mart spinner baits. My first cast was wild and landed in some thick vegetation. As soon as I pulled the spinner lose, a big fish engulfed it. I didn't get much of a fight out of her. She buried herself in the weeds, and I had to horse her out along with a huge clump of weeds. I knew it was a big fish, but I was thinking maybe five pounds. It wasn't until after I removed all the vegetation that I realized she was much bigger. She went 7.5 lbs.
  5. This time of year, I do a lot of upland/waterfowl hunting. It's the February-March time period that drives my crazy. I usually pass my time by: 1. Pulling my hair out. 2. Banging my head on the table. 3. Chewing on aluminum foil. I hope this helps.
  6. My favorite is a 4" Zoom lizard.
  7. I've never been any good at walking the dog, but I have found that a shorter rod makes it a little easier for me. On the rare occasion that I throw a spook, I use a 6'6" MF.
  8. Probably, but if tying jigs is your worst addiction, you're doing alright. By the way, those jigs look great!
  9. I called that right. I found it interesting that the southeastern voters put RGIII ahead of Richardson and Mathieu.
  10. Who would be on your ballot? You get three votes. My picks: 1. Robert Griffin III 2. Andrew Luck 3. Trent Richardson
  11. The entry fee for co-anglers is only $350, and it will let you get a good feel for how the whole thing operates before you start dropping $1250 to fish as a pro.
  12. The prize for winning a Bassmaster Open is $5,000 cash and $45,000 in mechandise. You only have to fish one tournament to win, but I believe that anglers who register for all three have priority over those who only register for one. You have to fish all three in order to qualify for the classic. I suggest that you register as a co-angler for the first year.
  13. When comparing notes about a day's fishing, my friends and I always seem to estimate what our bag would have weighed if we were in a tournament. IE: "My best five was probably 15 lbs, and my big fish was 4 1/2 lbs." How many of you do this? Do you actually weigh your fish, or do you estimate?

Are you planning to commission after VMI?
  15. Thanks Redline! I just wasn't sure if pescar was the right word or not.
  16. Thanks for the reply, River Rat. It sucks that you had to discontinue your soft plastics. I have been extremely pleased with all of your products, and the Aurora Shad was my all time favorite drop shot bait.
  17. You'll have to buy the Structure Scan separately. Here is a recent thread on the subject:
  18. Not really. I found that by googling it. How do you get there from their home page? They used to make drop shot worms as well. http://www.northstarbaits.com/drop_shot_baits.html I just can't figure out how to find them without googling. Did they discontinue them? The website still says "Jigs, Spinnerbaits, and Soft Plastics."
  19. I like to fish. = Me gusta pescar. Does that make sense? I'm taking a Spanish class, and for my final project, I have to put together a slide show and describe myself. I want to throw in a fishing picture, but I can't find anything about fishing in the text book.
  20. Oops! I'm one of those window lickers who didn't send my address.
  21. There are nicer rods out there, but those All Stars will work just fine.
  22. I know that they make soft plastics, but I can't find them on their website. Maybe I'm just blind. Can somebody help me out?
  23. Look him up on Facebook (Paul Krew). He has some awesome pictures posted. I bought a bunch of his Crazy Craws this past spring. He makes some great baits, and he made sure that I got exactly what I was looking for.
  24. Mattlures does make some awesome swimbaits, but I think he's looking for something similar to the Skinny Dipper. Vinny, you might be able to find someone in the Tacklemaking Forum to pour you something. Morelures makes some awesome baits in all kinds of cool colors, but I don't know if he makes a swimbait like you're looking for.
