College Football Week One
While we're on the subject of Tulsa and schedules, I bet you won't find a tougher non-conference schedule than TU's.

Free Bird Dog Pups
They're here! Five males and four females arrived this morning. So far, only three of them are spoken for. I'll post more pictures in the next few days.

College Football Week One
I think you're jumping the gun a bit. LSU's defense looked good, but their offense is questionable at best. Alabama and Oklahoma will have the opportunity to prove or disprove themselves in the next two weeks when they go on the road to face Penn State and Florida State, respectively. Provided that they stay unbeaten, LSU's victory over Oregon should go a long way towards helping them jump the others when the BCS rankings are released next month.

Other Than The U.s.a.
I'd go to Mexico. Margaritas, senoritas, and bass fishing... who could ask for anything more?

Dove Season
Dove season opens up in many states across the country tomorrow. It has been said that more shotgun shells are fired on September first than any other day of the year. This will be my first season in WV. I'm not expecting much, but I'll be out there.

I'd keep my reels. I'm all the time buying, selling, and trading rods anyway. They would be easier to replace than my reels.- Free Bird Dog Pups

I am expecting a litter of pups from an accidental breeding between an English Pointer and a German Shorthair Pointer. Both parents are excellent upland hunting dogs, and I would like to place the pups in good, hunting homes. The Sire, a GSP, is 25 1/2 inches tall and weighs about 70 pounds. He is heavily Hege-Haus and Poettsiepen line bred. These are some of the very best lines the Germans had to offer, and they’re what a large number of the NAVHDA guys work with, crossed to Hustler. He is an extremely biddable, confident, medium range dog. He is going to be running Master Hunter this Fall, and he has an UFTA Championship to his name. The Dam, a Pointer (English), is 23 inches tall and weighs about 45 pounds. She is line bred Guard Rail with a touch of Honky Tonk Attitude. She has proven herself as an excellent natural bird finder everywhere from the wide open plains of western Oklahoma to the thickest of West Virginia woodcock coverts. Her style, athleticism, and innate ability to find birds make her a pleasure to hunt behind. I am located in the Charleston, WV area, and you can pick one up here, or shipment can be arranged at your expense. I may also be willing to meet you somewhere in the WV/OH/KY area. The pups are due on Labor Day, and they should be ready to go in early November. PM me if you are interested in giving one of these pups a good home.- New Truck
Vortec 5.3L V8 I put about 100 miles on it today. The more I drive it, the more I like it.- Steel Shot For Doves
Based on his location, I would assume that he's hunting a conservation area that is managed primarily for waterfowl.- New Truck
I've always liked the looks of regular cab trucks better than extended cabs. Plus I'm single, and I really don't have any need for a back seat.- New Truck
- Electricity Rant.
You're right about that. Years ago, I signed a lease for an apartment in Texas and then called to have my utilities turned on. The electric dept told me it would be five days before they could send someone over to turn my power on. Five days! Then they were kind enough to tell me that for $100 I would be put on the priority list and my electric would be turned on that day.- What To Do
I'm with GrundleLove on this one. At some point, almost every kid is going to pretend to use tobacco. Some will use candy cigarettes, some will chew Big League Chew, some will dip beef jerky "snuff." Pretending to smoke doesn't mean he's going to grow up to be a smoker any more than playing cops and robbers will turn him into a bank robber or playing with dolls will turn him into a girl. Relax and enjoy your kids while they're young. Soon they will grow up, and you'll have much bigger reasons to worry about them.- Best Bass/bluegill Combo Lures?

The AP poll was just released, and it looks like the sports writers agree with the coaches. Numbers 1-4 are identical. Numbers 5-9 are the same schools in a different order. Nebraska replaces Wisconsin at #10. Just two weeks to go!- How Long Do You Let The Senko Sit On The Bottom?
I usually let it sit for about five seconds. Then I reel it in and change baits to something I can fish faster.- Where Would You Go?
I was talking about the coal pits in NE Oklahoma, but I'm sure the ones in SE Kansas are just as good. My exwife's family is from Pittsburg, KS, and every time we would go that way, we would pass a lot of great looking pits. Have you ever fished Cedar Bluff Reservoir out in western Kansas? It would be a long drive for you, but it was my favorite bass fishing lake when I lived in Kansas. I haven't been out there in ten years, so no telling how much it's changed, but it used to be awesome.- College Football: Can't Watch It Anymore
They are receivivg an education in return for their services. Four years at the University of Oklahoma will cost a student paying resident rates roughly $70,000. Nonresidents will pay about $113,000. That's for tuition, books, and room and board. In a sense, they are being paid $70,000-$113,000 to play football for four years. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing them receive a small stipend, but honestly, no amount of money will ever be enough to satify many of them. If they received a few hundred dollars, they would demand a few thousand. If you think college football is corrupt now, start paying them and see what happens.- Where Would You Go?
Dude, I wish I was going to be home on leave during that time period. I could get you into some great fishing in NE Oklahoma. I grew up fishing Grand, Hudson, and Oolagah lakes, but some of the best fishing can be found in the coal pits and farm ponds in the area. If you go to Grand, I suggest you spend a day on Hudson as well. It's a much smaller lake, but I've always seemed to catch better quality fish out of Hudson.- New To Korea
PM Incheon Basser. He may be able to point you in the right direction. I think we have another member in Korea, but I can't remember his screen name. - Bcs Championship Predictions
