The .243 WIN and the .244 REM were actually released the same year. My guess is that Winchester did a better job at marketing their new round than Remington. Winchester offered a 100 grain bullet in .243, and they advertised it as a deer/antelope round, while the .244's 75 and 90 grain rounds were looked at as more of a varmint round.
  4. I stand corrected. Tim Horton did qualify for the Classic. I don't know how I missed his name before.
  5. That was one of my all time favorite threads!
  6. He's not. I'm pulling for Edwin Evers or Jeff Kriet.
  7. I agree with KVD to an extent. Nearly all of my baitcasters are Revos, but I do have two Shimanos and one Diawa. After casting Revos all day, if I pick up a Shimano or Diawa, it takes a couple of minutes to get the feel for it. At my level, I don't think that it's a big deal, but for a full time pro like KVD, those couple of minutes that it takes to adjust (or pick out a backlash) could mean the difference between cashing a check or going home broke.
  8. Is that a dog box in the back of your truck?
  9. In the past, we've done very well in western Oklahoma, but the bird numbers are way down due to a harsh winter followed by drought last year. There is a lot of hunting pressure early in the season, but by New Years, there aren't many hunters left. PM me when you start planning your hunt, and I'll help you out however I can.
  10. No kidding! I'm 38, and I'm still dreaming of a rig like that!
  11. J Francho, that those trout fillets look delicious! What do you season them with?
  12. You're both wrong. That's a thingymajig. Seriously, that came off the bottom of a spinning reel.
  13. Try one of these. I have two of them, a baitcaster and a spinning rod, and I've been very pleased. They have aluminum oxide guides, and they come with a travel tube. http://www.basspro.c...ct/52901/107854
  14. I'd stick with the .270 unless you're just needing an excuse to buy a new rifle (been there myself).

  16. I think you'll be happy with that rod. I use a Kistler Mag TS 6'9" Medium Light Moderate, and I have been very pleased with it.
  17. X2! I've completed an Associates degree, and I'm close to finishing my Bachelor's, and I've never paid a cent for tuition.
  18. Is there any way they can both lose? Gag!
  19. When I was a kid, I always used to ask to go fishing on my birthday. My parents always said that it was too cold for fishing, and I never went. I turned 38 years old on 22 Dec 2011, and for the first time in my life, I went fishing for my birthday. I only got to fish for about an hour, and I only had one bite, but I made it count. You can't really tell from the pic, but the bass weighed roughly about 3 1/2 lbs. Happy birthday to me!
  20. Here are a few pics from my annual hunting trip. My brother and I try to take a hunting trip somewhere every year around New Years. We only hunt public land, and we try to keep it as low budget as possible. The past few years, we've hunted western Oklahoma, but the bird numbers are down this year, so we went to Kansas instead. We did an awful lot of walking, and the birds were few and far between, but we had a good time, and so did the dogs. My brother is a much better shotgunner than I am, but on this day, I was on fire. It seems like every time we hunt in Kansas we end up getting stuck. I can't wait until next year!
