  2. Mine too. In that order.
  3. I did the same thing, but I used an old ice fishing rod.
  4. How deep was the fish caught? 30' Did the lure contain rattles or have hinges? No Was the lure a natural color (brown, green) or was it an unnatural color (chartreuse, orange)? Natural If possible, what moon phase was your PB caught during? New moon
  5. I've heard variations of that one all across the country. I guy from Utah even told that story, but it was a trout instead of catfish. My favorite is a story about a place with catfish so big that fishermen used live chickens for bait. Really? How long does a hook impaled chicken stay alive under water?
  6. It depends on the type of tournament that I'm fishing. In an open jackpot type tournament, I'm going for broke. In a trail tournament where I'm competing for points throughout the entire season, I tend to go for a limit first. At the end of the year, an angler who consistently weighed in a solid bag will be higher in the standings than the guy who finishes near the top in some tournaments and the bottom in others.
  7. You are partially correct. PVDF, the raw form of the resin from which fluorocarbon is produced, comes from overseas. McCoy (and perhaps others) turns it into fishing line right here the USA with American workers.
  8. I was in the same situation a couple of weeks ago. I went to Cabelas looking for a single blade spinnerbait, and all i found was the Death Shimmer. I bought two of them, and I used one of them last weekend. They seem like decent spinnerbaits, and they do put off quite a bit of vibration. I can see how they might pick up a lot of grass, but I didn't have that problem.
  9. McCoy fluorocarbon is made in USA.
  10. Gene Larew Salt Craw and Berkley Chigger Craw
  11. Tackle Warehouse and Mondo Tackle
  12. I'm confused. What is pre-Rapala? Aren't Wiggle Warts made by Storm? Is Storm the 3rd company to make them?
  13. It doesn't say what he caught it on, but I'm guessing it wasn't a #22 dry fly.
  14. I love crossfit! I've been doing it since 2009.
  15. I drove through a construction zone, and I ended up with little tar spots on the underside of my boat. A little elbow grease was enough to get the bulk of it off, but some of the bigger spots smeared, and I can't get them off. What would you use to remove really nasty stuff like road tar?
  16. Where in Oklahoma? You might be better off posting this in the regional forum.
  17. I usually start out the year by using up all the partial spools I have left from the year before.
  18. If I had a reel that I thought was too big for the rod, that would give me an excuse to buy a bigger rod and a smaller reel.

I haven't tried the mini-mop, but I've used similar jigs with good results. Don't trim the skirt!
  20. I throw a Carolina rig a lot, and I've had success with a lot of different baits. For the most part, I choose a bait for a Carolina rig similar to what I would throw on a Texas rig under similar conditions. A few of my favorites include a Lizard (duh), Brush Hog, Salt Craw, Trick Worm, Senko, Fluke, and small (4"-5") swimbaits. I've never had much luck with French Fry type baits, but honestly, I haven't used them much. Some people swear by them.
  21. I'm fishing a tournament this weekend on a lake that looks like chocolate milk. It has rained off and on this week, so I don't expect the water to clear up much by Saturday. I'm taking Thursday and Friday off to prefish, and I'll probably spend a lot of time just searching for some clean water. I plan to attack the lake with my normal, muddy water arsenal of Rat-L-Traps and Colorado bladed spinnerbaits. I'm wondering if anyone has tried an umbrella rig under these conditions? I'm thinking maybe four paddle tail swimbaits with a big spinnebait blade in the middle might stir up enough water to get their attention. Thoughts?
  22. Good advice above. For a quality spinnerbait, look no further than Northstar Custom Baits.
  23. Let us know how you like it. As someone who is technologically challenged, I'm interested in how user friendly it is.
