  1. There isn't one player on that team that has ever lost a national championship game. Don't hold the failures of the 2006 and 2007 Buckeyes against the 2014 team.
  2. I saw the title of this thread, and I thought it was going to be about dove and teal hunting with a bow. I would love to see that!
  3. Hunting is not allowed on Sundays in WV, so I'm going Monday.
  4. Yeah, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Auburn, Arkansas, and Ole Miss are some real powerhouse teams. The combined records of those six teams was 26-47 in 2012. Give me a break.
  5. My biggest issue with fishing on holiday weekends is the traffic jam at the boat ramp.
  6. Don't talk too much smack to your K-State friends because you are wrong. KU beat SDSU last season. KSU lost to NDSU last night.

  9. Two thoughts come to mind: 1. Are you using more weight than the rods are rated for? In all my years, I've broken exactly one rod, and it was entirely my fault. I was heaving a heavy swimbait on an el cheapo flipping stick, and the rod snapped when I tried to make a long cast. 2. Are you holding the rod by the handle or further up on the blank? I remember Bill Dance or Jimmy Houston or somebody saying that most of the rods he broke were from holding a rod up on the blank instead of by the handle. I used to do that a lot back when I was using the old pistol grip rods, but fortunately, I never broke one.

  11. It's funny that you say that because I can remember a few years back when people were referring to the PAC 10 as the PAC 1 (USC) and the BIG 12 as the BIG 2 (OU & UT).
  12. I have to agree with Bob Stoops when it comes to the SEC. Yes, they have consistantly had the top team for several years, and they have 3 or 4 that are very good every year, but what has the rest of the league done? I hate to be the bearer of bad news to SEC fans, but Alabama's dominance over the past few years hasn't made Vanderbilt a better team. I don't recall any Oregon St fans shouting "PAC10" back when USC was at the top of their game. Why? Because they knew that the Beavers were a lousy team. I seriously doubt that many Texas fans were rooting for the Sooners in all their NCG appearances. Why? Because they are loyal to their team. Hey, why don't y'all change your chant from "SEC" to "FBS"? Then, no matter what happens, you can still bask in the glory of another team's success.
  13. I could be successful if I was limited to two rods, but I'd have trouble narrowing it down to one because the two rods I use most often are completely different. One is a 7' H/F baitcaster, and the other is a 6'9" M/XF spinning rod.
  14. I just tried them for the first time yesterday. I was out of Gene Larew Salt Craws, and the tackle shop I stopped at didn't carry them, so I bought the Money Craws in Black Blue Shadow and Green Pumpkin. I fished them on a Texas rig, and although I didn't catch anything like that hawg you landed, I did catch five or six fish in the 2-3 lb range.
  15. TW has them for $30. I bought the G-Force and a Troll Perfect after seeing them at the Classic. Adding those two accesories is like having a whole new trolling motor.
  16. Where were you fishing? I've had some great days fishing for reds (sockeyes) on the Klutina River.
  17. Go west, my friend. I'm from NE OK (Chelsea), but I make a trip out west every year around New Years, and I always find birds. PM me, and I'll let you in on some insider info. P.S. If you make the trip, you had better pack your walking boots and a good dog. You will get a workout.
  18. There was a good article about this subject in the August-September 2013 issue of FLW magazine. It should still be available at Wal-Mart. My personal favorites include the Berkley Chigger Chunk, Rage Chunk, and Zoom Super Chunk.
  19. I put a G-Force handle on my trolling motor this year, and I couldn't be happier with it.
  20. For the sake of argument, let's just assume that the price is comparable.
  21. This question is mainly for those of you who are very loyal to your brand of choice. If you were looking for a specifc rod (e.g. length, action, power, handle type, etc), and your favorite company, be it Shimano, Diawa, Falcon, Kistler, or whoever, didn't offer it, would you buy a different brand, or would you settle for the closest thing available from your favorite manufacturer? Example: You want a 6'10" M/XF spinning rod with a split grip EVA foam handle. Your favorite brand, brand X, only makes that rod in 6' 6" and 7', but brand Y makes exactly what you're looking for. Do you stick with your favorite even though it's not exactly what you're looking for, or do you take your business elsewhere?
  22. I'd be worried about the bow string catching on all that loose material on your left arm.
  23. I have been fortunate enough to hunt many species all over the U.S. I guess that's one of the benefits of being raised as an Army brat and being an active duty Soldier as an adult. I've hunted in AK, AZ, CO, KS, KY, MO, NE, OK, OH, and WV, Over the years, I've hunted Gambels. scaled, mearns, and bobwhite quail, ruffed, sharptail, and blue grouse, ptarmigan, pheasant, waterfowl (dozens of species), whitetails, mule deer, elk, moose, pronghorn, rabbit, squirrels. I never got into turkey hunting because the season tends to run concurrently with some of the best bass fishing. My favorites are bobwhites in my home state of OK and mule deer in CO.
