  1. I know nothing about trolling because I've never done it, but when casting a crankbait, rod position definately plays a role in how deep a lure runs.
  2. I ordered mine from Sportsman's Guide.
  3. My primary goals are the same every year- qualify for state, qualify for regionals, and ultimately, qualify for the Classic. Everything else I do on the water is in support of those goals.
  4. Thanks, guys. Scott, I never thought about trolling. I was thinking about fishing it the way Goose52 described. That does explain the wide range of depths.
  5. How deep does a Storm Wiggle Wart run? I was looking at them at Cabelas today, and the box says they run 7'-18'. That seems like a pretty big range.
  6. I was 26 years old. It was an open tournament on Milford Lake, KS with about 30 boats. The wind was howling, and the water was cold and muddy. The tournament probably should have been cancelled due to the conditions. I was getting rocked in my old aluminum boat, so I tucked myself into a semi-protected cove and stayed there all day. Only two fish were brought to the scales that day, but one them was mine, and I took second place. I've fished in countless tournaments since then. I've won a few, cashed a check in many more, but that first tournament remains one of my favorite fishing memories.
  7. I needed a new reel for deep cranking, and I planned to get another Revo Winch, but I decided to try out an Ardent Edge Pro 5.1:1. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I took it outside and cast it in the yard. It casts like a dream, but that's all I can say for it so far. Who else is using Ardent reels, and what are your thoughts?
  8. Rat-L-Trap or Colorado blade spinnerbait.
  9. I'm telling you guys, Duckett was all alone in that boat. No cameraman, no marshal, nobody was in the boat with him. My buddy took some pretty good pictures. I'll have him send me one, and I'll post it.
  10. I followed Boyd Duckett for a little while on day two of the Classic. He was all alone in his boat, but he had another boat following him with two people that he was talking to. We kept our distance, so I'm not sure what they were talking about, but I assumed that one of them was his marshal. I don't know why the marshal wasn't in his boat with him.

  12. I don't remember exactly, but it seems like they were in the $20.00 range.
  13. Has anyone tried using them on a 1/4 oz Pumpkin 'Ed?
  14. They were selling them at the Classic Expo. Those things are freakin' massive!
  15. If you're going to use Spike It or JJ's Magic, hang off the side of the boat when you're dipping it.
  16. That's what I do too. I fill mine roughly 1/3 full with mono before spooling up with fluorocarbon.
  17. Does copolymer line typically sink like fluorocarbon or float like nylon monofilament?

  19. Wow! I didn't know that. I think OU only has 26.
  20. When I was a kid, I tried that with a Zebco 33 combo, but the line snapped, and I ended up chasing my kite for a long way to get it back. After that, I started using my grandpa's deep sea rod. I don't know how much line that thing held, but I'm glad it never broke.
  21. Thay also had a Craw-Worm similar to a Gene Larew Salt Craw that was awesome!
  22. I bought a bunch of them a year or two ago when Northstar was having a sale. They're good shakey heads, but there's nothing really special about them. Their spinnerbaits are awesome!
  23. I'll be there 20-24 Feb. I'm staying with my brother in Claremore for the first two days, and I have a room at the Hard Rock 22-24 Feb.
  24. I like Crestliner2008's system, but I've used the same type weights without the drop shot swivel. I just tie a regular clinch knot (not an improved clinch knot) with about four wraps. If you get hung up, the knot with come untied with about the same amount of pressure it takes to pull loose of an ordinary drop shot weight.
  25. Gripnrip, where do you live? I'm originally from Chelsea, and I'll be back for the Classic. Also, when did they change the launch site? For months, they've been saying Disney, and now they're saying Grove.
