How often do you cash a tournament check?
I had the same problem of sticking to "Plan A" for too long.

Shakyhead
Is anyone making shakyhead with a fine wire, wide gap, offset hooks that can be Texas rigged? I've been using the VMC rugby heads, but their hooks are a little too big for what I'm using them for. If someone could make me some 1/8 oz and 3/16 oz shakyheads to my specifications, I'd buy I'd buy about 100 of each. If not, can someone point me towards a mold, so I can pour them myself?

I was the same way for my first few years of tournament fishing. I either finished very high, or I zeroed, but I almost never finished in the middle of the pack. These days I'm a little more consistent.

ozarks smallmouth trip
I don't know about a four day trip, but the Current River was a pretty popular place to float and fish for smallmouths when I lived in SE Missouri. Should be close to home for you.

Small-mouth fishing shallow rivers
+1 for in line spinners. Roostertails are my favorite due to the wide variety of colors and weights available.

MRE's
Having been in the Army for 19+ years, I'd say I've eaten about as many MREs as anyone. I just finished what should be the last field problem of my career, and with any luck, I'll never eat another MRE in my life.

Newbie from Colorado
Welcome ti BR! I had some pretty good days bass fishing on Pueblo Reservoir years ago. That's really the only place I ever bass fished in Colorado, but I've fly fished all over the western half of the state.

Can any one identify?
That looks like a good candidate for Bassmaster magazine's "What's it worth" column. I love those old lures, but I could never be a collector because I'd be too tempted to fish with them.

Fluorocarbon line unraveling off spinning reel
My first thought is that 12lb fluorocarbon is probably too heavy for your spinning reel. Go with a lighter line, and see what happens. I'm also curious as to why you would use a leader so long that it is the only thing touching the water. At this point, the fluorocarbon is your main line, and the braid is nothing more than backing. If you only want fluorocarbon in the water, go with a lighter line (try 8lb), and treat it with line conditioner. If you want to stick with 12lb, you may need a bigger reel.

Lipless Cranks
I don't think it matters. I used the original Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap for many years in everything from muddy to crystal clear water with good results. Of course, that was before I knew that I was supposed to be using silent baits in clear water.

Best Line for 6XD
I usually use12lb BPS fluorocarbon. I'll go to 10lb if I'm not getting enough depth.

Fishing in college
Since you're going to Auburn, I believe I'd find Matt and Jordan Lee on social media and ask them directly. You won't find a better source for information about Auburn bass fishing that those two.

What size boat to get (17ft?)
Well, you picked one of the few places in the country where I haven't spent much time. No matter where you are, I think you would be happier with something in the 18' range. It would be safer and provide you with a more stable platform and more storage space.
