question about the spine of a rod.
I'm not entirely convinced that the difference is discernible to a human whether on spine or straightest axis or any hodgepodge between, but Gary Loomis builds on the spine and his explanation why does make sense to me. Just search Gary Loomis rod spine, he blames the physics of casting for why he does it and says 90% of the time the spine is oriented the same as the straightest axis anyway. Mass produced rods are almost always guaranteed to be built on the Straightest axis, people always look down a rod and straight rods sell better than spined rods. But I've ended up with some nonspined crooked sideways rods before... I build now haha.

Color for polarized sunglasses?
My dad's glasses after insurance cost him about 300 bucks, going to zenni with no insurance cost under $80... I think after the extra fees of polarized and all that a regular pair of glasses total like $30 or something. You can pick more expensive frames if you want, you might have crazy prescription that causes the lens price to go up, like my dad, but still bonkers cheaper than a typical glasses store or optometrist office. Just poke around the site and and build a pair to meet your needs and see what the total is.

What is your fav setup?
Custom on what blank? You're first post made me feel better about grabbing that 15# BG, it's going on the exact same Kistler, but your second post made me scratch my head a bit. I really dig that7ft 4.5 Kistler helium with any tatula and 12#hybrid. But a top contender is my 7'2mhmf Croix Victory with braid, killer for swim jig, chatterbait, spinnerbait.

Stumped for sure
I'm sure you live in a suck area, I certainly do too. If I catch 3 fish in an outing I'm having a good day, if I catch fish 2 outings in a row I'm having a great week haha. But I'm trying to find areas or presentations that aren't being hit so hard. I was down the water from a guy and he caught 2 or 3 and I got nothing, but I didn't throw the weightless kickin worm he had tied on...

Color for polarized sunglasses?
Don't do mirror in low light, straight amber/copper or even a light green. But an actual green not some kinda off gray. I'm giving those yellow lenses a try this year, they ain't the as seen on TV make your night time day time type a deals, but yellow lenses do help with those overcast days to highlight the contrast.

This is how I fish a Texas rig, I throw some wire on a jighead with a blade or two or 3, top it off with a paddletail on a screw lock and you're golden. It might be an unwritten rule that it's not a Texas rig, but I call it that ?

Jig Tying and skirt Question
Cool Thanks man, I'll get something me picks up when I get some work done. What do you use for those heads and how do you add weight? I'm trying to find skirts and materials without spending 150 bucks for free shipping. I'll c heck out fishingakirts.com When you wire tie, how do you lay and layer the skirts? Ever tie on a jig without the fat collar thing, just straight hook to head?

Great!!
At least it was little, I hooked into one off a dam that had claws bigger than my hands. I think someone brought up an alligator a Snapper or something and it got too big for'em. Had a shell wider than a trash barrel, was bonkers. I've also had a few regular size ones either bite or snag, always feels like a wonster bass until it starts swirling around all weird.

Double priced half worms under 1/3rd the bag that last 10-20x longer than any other double sized half price 2/3 full plastic out there. Pays for the other 10 bags of regular stuff by the time you finish one bag of elaztech. I wish bro, I could use a good 2 week detox. All my shakes will just add some action to my ned. I bet there's some fat mexican bass bagged on lilneds

I'm spend some time Google mapsing around that area and see what happens. I will say I've spent most of my fishing life driving past (on the passenger side when I was younger) those highway waters and daydreaming of what might be swimming around in there. I've been known to cast into flooded fields and ditches, made the risk of stopping on the highways to hit those waters even riskier knowing I'd cast into a glorified puddle of I had a rod with me haha. But I'll commit this year to getting out on at least one possible ground water overflow. I trust you Crick

My in-laws got a cabin up there, mostly surrounded by big water. Maybe I'll try to sneak out and find one of your picturesque ponds with minimal human foot and fingerprints, but of the few fishing days in ME I get a year I'd hate to waste it on dead water. The big lakes are hard to fish, especially from a yak with no electronics, but I have seen the monsters that lurk in those waters. They often scoff at my lures and mock me.

Jaw, meet floor Any idea what the water temp was? That might have my 2 year total beat. I havent bagged over 10 fish in a day since I was fishing a local golf course YEARS ago.

The latest sale thread
DAMSON I thought I got a deal on this combo last year for $174. At $113 that's an easy choice bro, reel feels real good in my palm - more like a 100. I plan to swap out the bearings to hybrid, only cuz I wanna, and its been more than reasonable in its behavior, pretty sure its just like many of the other LFS reels they got. I havent used it or the rod a ton, but the reel is in this years line up. Almost wish I didn't see this, I didn't get to use it much last year and certainly coulda waited for this deal haha. The rod is a rod, its the TP1 black, like I said not a whole of of use, but it seems beefy, no leader knots though, microwave guides don't like those. I was planning on getting a shimano or Daiwa on the next worthwhile sale, but this might make me change my mind... but I have zero use for another rod- got some to build still.
