Who uses Tornado HH knot?
I use 15lb Fluorocarbon (Yo-Zuri T7) and 30lb braid on my baitcasters and 20lb braid to 12lb fluoro leader on my spinning rods.

Lews reel font on brake wore off?
Yea, I learned that.....I got a newer reel to learn on, actually what I bought the Mach2 for. I am getting it....I am still throwing a backlash or 2 when I try overhand casts, but I am getting really good at getting those backlashes OUT.....I saw a video where the guy picks the line, reels in a few turns over the lashes and push your thumb firmly and it comes out every single time. That was a god send for me. It let me have at it without fear of having to cut my line.

Who uses Tornado HH knot?
Yea, its a newer knot. I haven't seen many people using it. I have been practicing it all day. Its still a little fumbles for me, but I will get it....only took me a little while to get the FG knot. I kinda think of this knot like that, where its "one towards you, one away". Fairly easy to tie, but just need to learn the finger dex to get it perfected.

Lews reel font on brake wore off?
I got you, I am almost to the point of not using it at all, but not quite there yet....just nice to have it there when you are learning. I have only used a baitcaster for a little while throughout my life. I actually got back into fishing recently to finally bit the bullet and fully committed to using them till I got it mastered. I can understand the older ones, ones you have had for years.....but these are pretty much new, the mach2, I am not too mad at, its a $150 combo, but the MP, geez, $150 reel and my dobyns cost me $120. I was kinda hoping it would be a little more refined for the much higher price tag.

Lews reel font on brake wore off?
I just wrote to them about it. Wow, $150 reel and the paint just wears off so easily? I really can't believe it. Less than 2 weeks old.

Who uses Tornado HH knot?
Just started practicing tying this knot. I was using a Double pitzen, but as you all know, its not fun to tie out in the wild. So I have been looking for something to tie thats as strong if not stronger and easy to tie. I stumbled upon this knot look at the sunline web site. I tested it a few times and every single time I broke the line, the line itself broke...not the knot. Anyone else use this knot? Any down sides? I notice the knot is LONG, so that may be its only down side.

WD40 as a line conditioner
ahhhhh......this is serious or are we joking here? People actually use this on their line?

seaguar line
Why using straight fluorocarbon on a spinning rod, any specific reason? If you HAVE to use Fluoro, use a smaller line....10lb is pretty thick and Seaguar (as people say) is VERY springy. It wants to fly off the spool. If you want a MUCH better experience with your spinning setup, go 20lb braid to a 10-12lb Fluoro leader with an FG or Alberto knot to connect. These knots fly through the eyelets with NO problem, so don't worry about casting it. Just don't let the knot make its way back to the reel. I measure my leader by reeling up the line to my casting length (about 10") and make sure the FG/Alberto is NOT in the reel. This should be good, it ends up about 6ft or so of leader....I will adjust from there. Try the braid setup before you commit to buying any more Fluoro, don't waste your money on spool up full fluoro unless there is a specific reason. Maybe try some mono since it cheaper.

New Sticky with Updated "Best Beginning/intermediate" advice?
PRACTICE your knot tying, over and over.....make sure its perfect. I saw a kid fishing my pond a few days ago, saw him catch some eel grass and started to pull up to free it. As he is pulling, gently I may add, his line snapped. I walked over to him to give him a new setup (was fishing Texas rig worm, so I got out a weight/hook/peg for him since he didn't have anything else. I pulled the line and saw his line broke at the knot. I asked him what knot he tied, he said a twist knot (clinch). I told him that I would tie on the new stuff for him. I did a Tornado HH knot and showed him. Also, sent him the video on how to do it. If you are new, take a few and practice practice practice.......the knot is the single most important part of catching a fish....LEARN the proper way, watch your line crossing in the hook eyelet and make sure the loop is ABOVE the eyelet.... I wish someone showed me the new knots when I was a kid, lost LOTS of fish over the years to a bad knot.

I checked out that backpack and the bass pro. Bass pro version is on sale right now for $59 and comes with 4 boxes. Check it out. Took it this weekend and it served me well. Time will tell if it holds up. Normally they are $90. The blue one they have for $30 seems much more flimsy. I spent the extra and got the 4 boxes. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-advanced-anglers-ii-backpack

Always looking for new spots. If anyone is in Broward County area. I live in Coconut Creek, off Lyons and Wiles. Been fishing the canals and ponds all my life, but always looking for some nice new spots. Sound off, if anyone would like to come fish in my area, can get you in the gate and can park at my house.
