  1. What size fish are you guys catching that bending hooks is suck a concern? I fish mainly VMC because that is what is available locally and I’ve never had issues including on 36”+ northern pike 2 mph river current.
  2. More so just trying to talk like the cool kids , but yes it is worth the money. I would say the max scent holds up better than a senkos and the fish just hammer them
  3. At the store I was at, they had a separate clearance section tucked off the side of the fishing area on a end cap. There's two stores in my city, one side of town has a good fishing section and good clearance, the other one usually doesn't have squat so I'm sure it's pretty store dependant.
  4. Dicks had buy 5 get 5 on their clearance today. I am not proud of what I did to their keitech supply, but it had to be done . 10 packs of swing impacts for $30 is hard to beat
  5. River smallies and a few creek largies for me -green pumpkin goby TRD on 1/8 swinging ewg ned head -amazon cheapy -Yamamoto 4" GP hula grub t rigged on 3/0 vmc -flicker shad 7 in electric blue -red craw money badger 2.75 -wacky rigged GP max scent generals on weedless wacky hooks Those 5 rigs/lures probably caught 95% of my fish this year but I did catch quite a few on a trigged xzone 2.75" adrenacraw in summer craw in the creek, especially later in the year

I've had pretty good luck with a buck growl grunt tube and those primos can "bleat" calls . I bleat a.few times, then wait a bit, give a big loud snort wheeze and a couple drawn out deep grunts. I've pulled deer off the top of ridges from 200 yards away. Doesn't work every time but it works enough to be worth it. Make sure you're brushed in good because they pinpoint on the noise immediately
  7. I always feel like, with smallies at least, you just need to get that first one to go and then alot of times the school will fire. If I'm on a good spot I'll spend more time than I probably should on it, but I've just had too many times when on cast 25, the first fish hits and then I catch 5-6 more in a row. But I will definitely switch up lures in those casts
  8. I love fishing in the fog, what I don't love is digging myself off of the sandbars that unexpectedly shifted from my last trip, while driving in the fog. Nothing like that grinding noise on the hull as you stare at your GPS track that you are following perfectly and was 4 feet deep a week ago, now it is 4 inches. Dang rivers
  9. Another day saved by ned rigs and wacky worms today after battling the fog this morning. Seems to be a theme this year, half hearted swipes at topwaters, nipping swim jig trailers, bumping cranks but not getting them in their mouth. They just seemed half hearted till you get a hook in them, then it's a raging tornado if smallmouth fury At this point I'm just searching with moving baits till I get any response or see them busting on bait and then I pick em apart with the old wacky/ned 1,2 combo. Caught 17 this morning, basically off of two spots/schools. Good size , all but 2 were over 16, and the shorts were at least close to legal. Best landed was 18.5 but I broke off a solid 20 at the boat, tried to keep him out from under the boat in the current, on the upside I saw the wacky jig fly out of his mouth when the line snapped, so at least he isn't swimming around with jewelry
  10. Grate height is fine, I have the Yamaha impeller, but I do a fair amount of reversing off of sandbars and the launches are just gravel down into the river, so I’m sure I get it there. Plus the river is all sand so I’m always sucking up the loose sand in the water. I was gonna go stainless impeller with an aluminum sleeve so I have a little give in the system, but still hold up to the sandblasting.
  11. Who do you get your parts from?
  12. Is that aluminum or stainless? My aluminum impeller gets chewed to pieces in about 2 trips without even noticably hitting anything, thinking about changing it up
  13. The max scent general in baby bass or the Green pumpkin party is $ as well.
  14. Wisco river between portage and the dells
  15. Was getting blanked on the river this morning throwing underspins, neds, deep cranks, spinners, could not get a bite to save my life. Then I picked a baby bass general on a 1/8 weedless wacky head.and started firing right into the cover, skipping it into the wood on every shade line. I landed 20+ nice smallies in an hour, probably missed at least that many, literally every spot I thought there should be a fish , I caught 3 out of the same hole multiple times I had moved away from wacky rigs, just didn't seem "fishy" enough compared to all the new super rigs, but man I forgot how it hammers fish. Also it cracks me up everytime I reel up a walleye with that wacky rig sticking out of its mouth
  16. Definition of choked
  17. I did some adjusting, I just couldn't remember how I got into and then out of that menu initially .
  18. Thank you, I was beginning to question my sanity, there is nothing on YouTube or Garmins website about the presets that I could find, I was beginning to wonder if I was imagining things
  19. So I just got a Lvs34 this winter and have been playing with it. Last time out I got into some preset menu for my settings that had like 3 options, one of which was pro mode, fun part being I couldn't get out of it. I eventually did but don't recall how. Yesterday I was out again and could not for the life of me find that menu, any ideas where it is or how to get there, the you tube isn't being helpful
  20. Anymore it's shadow raps and the ripstops. I used to crush fish on those things , but lately they've been dead. I pause, I rip, I straight retrieve, nada......... Maybe I stink, IDK what the heck is going on
  21. Don't get me wrong, mono is cheaper up front but I can run the same spool of 832 for years , flip it and run it for a couple more. Do that with mono, twist city.
  22. In what world does mono cast better than braid? Maybe the first dozen cast on a new spool, but after that , no way
  23. I run A 1860 seaark CC jet with a Yamaha 90/65 and ulterra 80 up front. There is definitely a learning curve. First time I unloaded the boat I ended up backwards on the pier, the only thing worse than the low speed forward handling is anything in reverse. Pretty much a trolling motor party for any low speed stuff. Mine isn't that bad on chop with the mod v hull, but as stated before, it isn't a pleasure cruiser. I was a little worried about the ulterra durability but I've beat the snot out of it and it keeps on ticking. I did add a come along and some sand anchors to my supplies this year as I spent a couple hours waiting for the dam to open and bring up the river last year, shallow sandbars and fog are a bad mix, but I had a rare summer Friday off so it was go time. Overall a great rig for a shallow, stump and rock filled river , wife and kids like being able to go up to no mans land and have huge sandbars all to ourselves as the only other people that can get there are the occasional canoe/kayak.
  24. If they allow scoping they should allow trolling, then you would really see some big bags and Randy crying
  25. I'll pull some flicker shads over the weed edges on the one pothole we fish when the conditions warrant it but to be fair it's 50/50 bass or Walters so I don't feel real bad about it. It's fun with the daughter and nephew as well, they grin like possums when they get hit by a nice bass or pike.
