Why did I wait so long? 2
I’m just now starting to learn the bladed jig myself. Why did I wait so long? The reason why is that the place I fish probably have the angler fish related to jig. So the test will be, if I can actually catch fish with it there. That will mean, presenting it perfectly. Doing it a little bit different. Selecting the correct trailer. I love a challenge.

New to bass fishing - 2 weeks, no bites at all
Another thing to consider, are you using bug spray? Deet turns off the bite for bass.

New to bass fishing - 2 weeks, no bites at all
Could be lots of reasons you’re not getting bit. The first would be, there ain’t no fish where you’re at. just because there’s water, doesn’t necessarily mean there’s bass there. If it’s a large lake and there’s grass, rocks, stumps (over to your left), but there’s a mud bottom where you’re fishing, then most likely there ain’t a whole lot of fish in that area. They like to hang out around the aforementioned grass and stumps. The second would be heavy pressure from other anglers. If you fish a stretch of shore where everybody else fishes, you’re gonna have to do something different, and you’re gonna have to present that lure perfectly. If I was gonna outfit a new angler with lures it would be as follows. Zoom Fat Albert curly tail grub in green pumpkin on 1/4oz ball jigheads. cast out and reel it back slow, or hop it along the bottom. 1/4oz rooster tail in white and black colors, add a ball bearing swivel to the line tie to prevent line twist. Cast it out and reel it back. Texas rigged Zoom super fluke in watermelon red color. 3/0 gamakatsu round bend worm hooks. Twitch it back with a jerk of the rod tip every second or so. Keep rod tip lower towards water. Texas rigged 5” Senko in green pumpkin 297, gamakatsu 3/0 round bend worm hooks. Throw it out, let it set about 10 seconds. Move rod tip upward to drag the worm along the bottom while lifting it some. Repeat til back to shore. An alternative to the senko would be a zoom trick worm. Watermelon red or green pumpkin colors. Rebel brand popper. Twitch rod tip, and causes it to ploop, repeat every second or so with an occasional pause. There really is no wrong way to fish the lures I suggest. My suggestion is how I fish them, but if you fish those lures, even if you do it a bit different, you most likely are gonna catch bass. I’d use trilene big game or trilene xl mono in 10 pound for it all.

Johnson silver minnow fans.whats your setup?
I haven’t had the best hookup ratio with the silver minnow. The pond I tested it in is full of 1/2 pounders though. I assume with bigger fish the hookup is better? I like it though and I retain one in my box for heavy cover work.

Big’un that got away… for now
I upgraded the hooks on the spit’ image to mustad triple grips! The ones that were on, there were sharp, but of unknown provenance.

Favorite line for skipping?
Trilene Big Game Fluoro, being stiffer, seems to skip better than the mono I’ve been using. Anyone else experience that a stiffer line skips better?

Ultra Light Bass Fishing Anyone?
I don’t get into ultralight, yet. I have seen some stuff though that’s tempting. The lightest I go right now is 1/8 ounce.

Big’un that got away… for now
I went back the next day, and I’ve been back several times since, no more encounters.

Which pound fluoro?
I have considered it. The sole reason I want to investigate fluorocarbon is because some people claim that it gets you bit more. I’m fishing a lake that’s got a lot of pressure, specifically, from the bank where everybody else fishes. I can test whether or not I’ll get bit more. I seemed to get bit more when I use trilene fluoro. So the test is continuing with a better brand. I picked up a spool of 12 pound when I was at Cabela’s I do want to try the copolymer.

Why did I wait so long?
Yes, I want to try the earring stops too.

Why did I wait so long?
It does take a minute to dry. For the lures I use the most I just glue up several beforehand. But if I wanted to make quick changes on the water it might not work so well.

Which pound fluoro?
Life weights go feo. 1/4 to 1/2 ounce. I do throw a lot of traps and crankbaits. I am starting to learn chatter baits. I want 1 poundage to handle all this to start. Mostly as a test.

Fat free cranks?
Great tips. Thanks guys! Makes perfect sense.

Why did I wait so long?
I’m using the picture super glue gel

Which pound fluoro?
I’ve been using big game monofilament 8, 10, and 12 pound line. I use a lot of eight and 10, because of the pressured water a fish. So if I wanna try invisx fluoro, what is the best size to jump off with? 10? I fish weightless, flutes, crank baits, rattletrap, quarter ounce grubs on jig heads, throw in a handful of Texas rigs.

Mid depth crankbait thats good through cover
My experience, though limited, is that the fat free shad does good coming through cover.

Fat free cranks?
Does anyone have firsthand experience with the old ones and the new ones and can say that the old ones are much better, or the new ones are just as good? What is the closest competitor? I really like the size and shape I like the shape of the bill too.

Anyone else not bother hollow body frogging?
I don’t have any trouble with frogs, provided the water ain’t been fished heavily with frogs right before me. Anytime others have been frog fishing. I usually go straight for a fluke or lizard, both weightless. Kind of the reverse is, I have caught a fish in open water at the pressured lake fish, on hollow body frog. In the middle of the day too.

Diawa Laguna Rod?
I did get a Daiwa Laguna rod and I like it pretty good. I’ve caught fish up to 4 pounds on it. It is more of a moderate action. I got the 7 foot MH/F version. It’s great for rattle traps, but I feel a little bit of everything on it. It doesn’t seem to be perfect for anyone thing, but it does well with a lot of different things. It is my go to rattle crap rod now.

Diawa CR80 any good?
I’ve been using the CR 80 for a little while now and I really like it. It hasn’t offered any problems.

Why did I wait so long?
I just recently started using superglue to glue soft plastics onto jig heads. It’s a game changer for me!

Thinking about reels that do not have centrifugal brakes.
I was thinking about getting a Bass Pro shop, Johnny Morris platinum series baitcasting reel, but now I’m having second thoughts. I have several of the pro qualifier reels and I love them. That seemed like good quality I generally like everything about them. But what I’ve come to realize is because they have tropical brakes, their spools are heavier, and thus I can’t cast lighter lures as well with them. I use a couple Abu Garcia Black Max 3 and I have a Daiwa CR80 that I like as well. They have magnetic brakes, but not centrifugal and this allows me to cast lighter lures. I easily cast 1/4 ounce floors using these reels. So I guess my question is, what reels should I be considering that are in the quality range of the BPS platinum series but do not have centrifugal brakes? I have considered putting a new spool in the BPS real, that didn’t have the brakes. Or perhaps trying to remove the braking system from the reel. Is this an option, thoughts?

Fat free cranks?
Thanks for sharing everyone. What does balsa crankbaits have to do with pressured water?

Fat free cranks?
Anybody else like the bomber fat free crank baits? Is there anything better?

Small square bill recommendation
Not a solution to your problem, but my first thought was a Bomber Fat Free Guppy or Fingerling. They tend to go in reverse when floating back up.
