  1. Sounds like a wild time. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Got ya. Yes, I plan to do that. Thank you.
  3. I'm not really into distance, nor am I into trick shots. Accuracy is my concern. I do cast for distance sometimes when fishing, but it's not my thing.
  4. There is enough play that I can see the flywheel turns a bit. I removed the sparkplug and with a flashlight, you can see the piston moving.
  5. The rod in question has the wraps intact, but the epoxy is mostly gone from flaking off. Phone is down currently, so no pictures. I don't have a rod turner. I could do the turn it occasionally thing though.
  6. Anyone running this and love it? https://www.basspro.com/p/lews-kvd-baitcast-reel
  7. I don't remember what the brand of the boat is, It's been a couple of years since I looked at it. I don't remember how old it all is, but I think it's from the late 80s, like 87. The boat has had a wooden deck added, but the aluminum is actually in very nice shape. I know the previous owner and it was used about 15 years back and just left to sit. I ran fine. Now the motor is locked up, but it feels like the cylinder is moving, but is locked somewhere else, so the water pump is the most likely culprit. Motor is in good shape, just needs a carb rebuild and fresh fuel lines is my guess, other than the lower unit. I'll be doing all the work myself, I'm pretty handy. If I get it running, I might fish with it some, but more likely I'll sell it as I'd much rather have a bass boat. The controls are all free, though they aren't in great shape. I know... my question is for a suggestion is to try to find one that knows his stuff since I don't know what I'm looking for in a good boat motor mechanic.
  8. I have a manual similar to a Haynes manual for it.
  9. I have a 40 horse evenrude on a 16 foot aluminum v hull. It needs repair. Best I can tell it needs a new water pump and the lower unit rebuit/cleaned. Can anyone recommend a channel or two for a boat motor repair/rebuild guy? Couple year old picture.
  10. As in, my cousin's dad's sister's husband. My mom and his mom were sisters.
  11. I use postimages.org. When selecting which link to use, I use the second from the top.
  12. Yep, very awesome, thanks for sharing.
  13. I don't use any conditioner. I have never tried it. I fish primarily mono, and I change my line often. Sometimes I'll change it after only 1 trip, sometimes it's once a month. I remember as a kid, probably around 14 years of age, my cousin's uncle took me and him fishing on his bass boat. It's the only time I have been on a bass boat. I was just learning how to use a baitcaster, and I had an Abu Garcia 4600 best I recall. I got a few backlashes, and on one of them, the guy offered to help with it. I don't remember asking for help. Well, he got it out, and he said I had too much oil on the reel. So, he sprayed some line conditioner on my spool. It was like a gob of snot. None of us caught anything that trip. Later on I inquired about maybe going again and the feedback I got was, he didn't want to pick backlashes out for me the whole time.
  14. If I really want to produce a good picture, I take multiple shots from the same angle, which produces slightly different angles of the "same angle". I scan through them and discard all but the best before I do any edits. If I'm using my iphone, I just hit the magic button and it edits it satisfactorily most of the time. Sometimes I edit it manually for an effect I want. I have a canon 60D, and I can take some decent photographs if I so choose. I have found that I can get acceptable results with the phone, if I take into consideration that the field of view is limited, and there is a lot of distortion.
  15. I'll have to check that out too, thanks.
  16. I appreciate everyone's input. I will have to try some of the ones mentioned.
  17. Thanks, Katie, that is interesting. I had noticed that a lot of time bluegills hang out with bass. I can't understand it, since bass eat gills. Thanks, Pat. That's interesting. I am primarily focusing on Freeman Lake, and on the private pond I fish. I do fish a few other spots. It'll be interesting to get my boat going so I can further my knowledge of the Freeman Lake. There are a few bass that I think are the same ones I've caught from the same areas. One, I pulled from under a bridge a few times, another from in a culvert. The culvert fish I am sure it was the same as it had a hook hole from me catching it a few days prior. Unless of of course, it was a differnet, but same sized fish that someone else had caught.
  18. Thank you for this advice. I do need to invest some more time with the ww senko and the carolina rig too. Thanks, I have thought of that actually, but not seriously. I'll have to really think about that more.
  19. What is better, hopping a jig along the bottom, or dragging a jig along the bottom?
  20. I like doing that too. I know that the city lake I fish has mosquito fish because the boy caught some and kept them for a pet for quite some time. I know that it has bluegill, and it has green sunfish. It also has some golden colored baitfish. I aint sure what they are, but I started using a gold crankbait and it's FIRE!
  21. I am pretty sure it's legal in my state. I know that it's legal for you to catch fish and transport them to stock your pond, though, they frown upon it.
  22. Thank you very much for sharing.
  23. We're doing good to have a couple weeks of ice on the water. Most of the time, it's a skim of ice that is gone in a few days because we almost always jump back up into the 40s and 50s after a cold spell. It's actually quite nice... except for the wind.
  24. Okay, that gives me some direction, thank you.
