Mann's Jelly Worms?
Thanks for all the responses. I only fished 1 or 2, and the bluegill loved the tails. Not sure if I caught a bass or not. I haven't been keeping real good track of what I catch. This year. I am looking for something a bit different, and maybe the Jelly Worm will be it. Worth a try I reckon.

Fluoro Thoughts
I'm still not sold on fluoro. It dawned on me, I bet a lot of pros either started on fluoro, or switched early on. Do pro fishermen use fluorocarbon line because it's just what pros use? Or does it actually help them to catch more fish? I guess what I mean is, when you're an aspiring pro you hear that you need to use fluoro line. So you change to fluoro from mono, but the change happens as your skill level increases, so you then say "I catch more on fluoro." I guess I'm asking is, if you took a pro fisherman and gave them only mono, would they be hindered, or would they still be competitive? Since we don't have any pros here, but do have some high level fisherman here, please chime in on your use of fluorocarbon line, and how it actually affected your catch rates? Was there every a time you weren't catching, while using mono, and then switched to fluoro and started catching? Or visa-versa, where you were catching with fluoro and switched to mono and stopped catching?

Mann's Jelly Worms?
Anyone still use them? I bought a handful of lures at a yardsale and it included 4-5 Mann's Jelly Worms. Presumably old ones. They appear to be blackberry color. Is there anything special about them? Is there a specific technique they work best with? In this video, at 14:35, it appears Ott Defoe is using a Jelly Worm. If not, it is a worm with a flat tail like the Jelly Worm. I thought that to be interesting. I wonder if it's a secret pro's lure?

How many baitcast reels below 6.0:1 do you own?
I have one 5.3:1, I use it for crankbaits. Mostly I prefer reels in the 6.3-7.5 range. But I ain't real picky either. I'll find a place for any speed range.

Picking up trash
If I picked trash up everywhere I went, some places I'd literally spend the whole time cleaning up and not be done. I do clean up trash occasionally, depending. I almost always grab fishing line and lures/hooks. If I can do it without being a burden I will grab various small trash. If there is plenty of trash and some of it is a bag, I will fill the bag and take it with me. A lot depends on how much time I have available that trip, and also, how much room for trash I have.

How many times has a 5-6lb fish been caught?
Glad to be back. Thanks for sharing.

What knot do you tie when you can't tie a palomar knot?
I rarely use the palomar. For a drop shot I will, for hook placement. Most of the time I use one of 3 knots. The Trilene knot, the Pitzen, or the Kreh Loop knot. I use the Trilene knot for things like jigs, hooks, frogs, and crankbaits. It doesn't need to the tag end trimmed. I use the Pitzen for mostly stuff like crankbaits. Use it for everything if I'm tying in the wind, dark, or rain. I use the Kreh loop for jig heads, hooks, Rapala minnows. I haven't got a clue as to their strength. I use them because of convenience of tying or because they meet the application. I use all 3 with all 3 types of line.

Your fishing prime
I feel that I'm just getting into my prime. I am just beginning to understand bass, and with that, I can normally catch them or understand why I am not catching them. I getting to where I make good decisions more on the water, such as changing lures or spots. All I need is a big truck, a boat, and money live on, and I'll start fishing opens.

How many times has a 5-6lb fish been caught?
I don't think that hooking and fighting a fish really counts unless it's landed. The pulling of the fish through the water I doubt is very traumatic, but pulling it out of water, getting face to face with it, and unhooking it, that is the thing that causes a fish not to bite again. Part of the reason I believe this is it's pretty common to catch a fish that comes off a lure upon throwing back at it.

Advantages of a shorter rod?
I mostly use 6'6" and 6'10" rods. I have a 6'0" inch use, and I feel that it gives me better target placement. I mostly bank fish, and a shorter rod helps with tip down techniques too. I have a 7'3" that I use, but its more conditional for me. If I was fishing from a boat, standing, I might bump up to longer rods. I haven't crossed that bridge yet.

Why don't you troll?
Thanks. Miss all yall here.

Why don't you troll?
Why don't I troll? The same reason I don't put out a run of jugs, it's not my preferred style of fishing. I like bass fishing with lures. I like bluegill fishing with lures and worms on occasion. It's actually quite fun to catch bluegill on a tiny crankbaits.

How many times has a 5-6lb fish been caught?
I had not considered the physical aspects of the catch and release. That is a good point. Mostly I'm thinking the number of catches before the fish realizes that line and lure might not be that palatable after all.

How many times has a 5-6lb fish been caught?
Okay, with my forum/computer/browser issues, I've decided to try a different browser with yall. Anyways, so if you got a LMB, lets say it's a 5-6 pounder, in a public lake, how many times has that fish potentially been caught? I would assume it got caught multiple times when it was younger, but lesser and lesser as it matured. So do we speculate 3-4 times, 6-8 times? or what?

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Went for a couple hours yesterday but I didn't get anything except a bluegill. He self released and landed there so I took his picture before flipping him back in. I did catch this awesome crawdad out of the edge of the water. Got a couple pics and a short video. I read the rules, and I take it posting a link to the video on youtube is verboten?

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Got the first of the year for me earlier, a small one. He did a self release but was on shore. I didn't feel like diving on him like a quarterback on a football, so let him go back in. Got a substitute picture though of the lure used.

Forum problems?
I haven't had any further issues with the forum since it was changed over to the new style. I have had a couple issues where I posted, but the post didn't show up. Normally I post by hitting command and enter together. (it just did it, and I went back to the end of the thread and this message was saved in the reply box) New post. Then when I hit command + enter, it did indeed post the reply on the second attempt. It merges the posts without issue it seems.

A buddy has one. I tried it, I wasn't impressed enough to buy one.

Do you want the latest greatest?
I do not want the latest and greatest. I generally pick something I like and stick with it until the bitter end. I don't like change.
