I actually love the marshall for 3/8-1/2oz spinnerbaits and jigs and underspins and that thing with a flashy swimmer and skinny dipper has done some damage for me this season. For crankbaits and chatterbaits I actually went through a few different lines / models before I landed on a 735cb which I'm also very happy with. I did try the rip n chatter victory model but it was too moderate for me (personal preference and nothing against the rod itself but that thing BENDS). If you want to stick w/ st. croix the legend line is a composite glass / fiber combo and that one honestly looks like it would be money for a crankbait / chatterbait rod and fit my personal taste a bit better for that use case....I also never did try the vtc72mhmf and that one seems like it might also work but once I got the 735cb I pretty much knew I had what I wanted. Either way if you picked up a new marshall off their line for that price and an old mojo I'm happy for you IMHO that's one of the best 'all purpose' rods out there.

Interesting topic...I actually used to prefer spinning then eventually grew into a casting rod. Right now I have a 6'10 kaden that I pretty much use just for jerkbaits (sometimes a few other things) and have been really happy with it. My main concern was lighter jerkbaits and things like a shad rap seemed like a better fit for a spinning rod (especially in any sort of wind) but this rod w/ a decent reel (I use a lew's kvd currently) do fine for me. If you are going to go the spinning route there aren't a ton of options out there but st. croix has a couple and abu garcia makes a winch rod that might be worth looking into...

3/16 4/0 owner shakey ultrahead for me...I typically use a 1/8oz for a ned but typically throw a shakey head in specific spots where the water can get deeper and that's the best setup I've found...

I've been using the VF2500HGA as a drop shot reel for a couple of months. First time going past the stradic series for me and there is a bit of a difference in weight and overall feel. It's actually the most expensive rod / setup I own and I only use it for drop shotting so haven't tried a ned or anything else with it, but have been very happy with the results. The reel is very smooth to throw lighter worms or shad lures and I can get them pretty far out there considering how long of a leader I usually use...it's also really light in the hands but at the same time doesn't feel any less 'tough' than the stradics I've got and the drag on it is nice and I've not had any issues landing anything. So I guess overall I'd suggest the 2500 hga for anything in the 1/4-3/8oz range if that helps at all...

My guess is if you put it on facebook marketplace for $150 it will sell within a week or two (although maybe not right now during black friday season). One thing about their moderate action rods is they aren't kidding and it is a legit moderate action with a substantial amount of bend...I prefer a little faster action myself so ended up selling a rip n chatter a while back after realizing I didn't like that moderate of a rod personally but I also happen to think the rod itself was good quality and this one is the next step up from the one I had so I bet you would be able to get more than what you paid back for it and someone else will end up with a good crankbait rod that they got a good deal on.

I don't own any in the Champion series but I have a Dobyns KD610-4CB and a KD 735CB. I love the 6'10" for jerkbaits and I also throw a mini max on it sometimes as well as 3/8-1/2oz crankbaits / lipless cranks and a popper every once in a while. I really like the KD 735CB for an evo or a thunder cricket...or a spook or a larger crankbait / lipless...Anyway assuming the power and action are about the same with the champion series I think you should be fine with the 685cb or 705cb for larger jerkbaits and could throw standard size bladed jigs on it as well. Some people like a really moderate rod for a chatterbait others like a fast action...I personally am in the middle and think the mod fast style action in the Kaden line works best but to each their own.

^ I also have one and like it a lot for jigs, underspins, big worms and spinnerbaits...plenty of other stuff you could throw with it but it's usually one of these for me. If I already had a few heavy rods (oh wait I do) this would probably be my next pick in the series.

The water is usually at least a little stained around me so I prefer some sound in mine...Lately I've been using the Lucky Craft Pointer Minnow 100 and have been liking it.

Seems like it usually goes for 24 hours or so. Sometimes after a while they cut the discount down to 15 or 10.

I only own one and wouldn't use it for everything, but I actually like the Lew's 7.5 KVD for the reel on my jerkbait rod. It's not too big but seems to do a bit better with lures in the 3/8-5/8oz range and I think the brake system works well for this type of thing.

This video actually does a pretty good job of sizing them out: TLDR I'd strongly recommend a 3/0 for the 3.8 size.

I use the KD610-4CB for smaller stuff (when I don't have a jerkbait on it) and the KD735 for larger stuff (usually a one knock spook) and love them both. They are a little more moderate but still have enough action to work the bait properly and both great rods for the price IMHO.

I use the 1/0 with 4" easy shiners and the 3/0 with 3.8" swim impact fats if that helps at all. Also use the 5/0 but I like a skinny dipper with that one...suppose you could go with a similarly sized keitech but the skinny dipper is an awesome bait to throw on a 5/0 flashy swimmer...

For a minute there I almost forgot what forum I was on... On a serious note I've sold a few rods on there and have run into some silly people so suspect it's entirely possible to have that happen with other people that are selling rods too. My personal favorite are the ones that try to lowball me within hours of me posting one and then telling me they have to meet up right away...at least wait a week before trying to pretend like you are William Shatner in a priceline ad...

If it were me and the rod was less than 5 years old I'd tell the bait monkey to get lost and ask St. Croix about an upgrade to a comparable Victory. If they still have the upgrade discount they had going a few months ago when I broke my mojo my guess is you won't be disappointed.

You can also go with something like the Hog Farmer Mini Rig (3 Wire 3 Blade) if you are in a kayak, state with limits or don't have a dedicated rod. Total weight on this one with 3 4" easy shiners is just about 1.5oz and it's one of my favorite lures all year but especially when they are really going after shad.

Ultegra, Stradic or Vanford in 2500 or 3000 size depending on what your budget is and how much line you want to put in it.

5/7 of my casting reels are the Lew's LFS and it's a great reel. Especially when you can find it for $80 or under. I also have a Tournament Pro LFS and while I do keep that one on one of my favorite casting rods, the LFS is very comparable and a great deal for the price. That reel paired with a Bass X is a nice $200ish combo IMHO.

Like a lot of things I think you get what you pay for to a point but then you start running into diminishing return on investment. In this case I like the strike king tour grade double willow and also plan on trying out the dirty jigs compact double willow but that's probably about as expensive as I'm willing to go for a spinnerbait.

Make sure you rig it correctly...this video is still one of my all time favorites on youtube and a redbug mag2 is right up there with a drop shot on my confidence bait list.

For spinnerbaits I like a Dirty Jigs Compact Double Willow (tactical shad) or a Strike King Tour Grade Double Willow (white / silver). For trailers I like a 4.5 Spunk Shad (blue gizzard) or a Crush City Freeloader. In terms of tricks and tips if you are around cover or aren't allowed to throw an a-rig this would be my next choice. Rod wise I have a 7'3" Victory Marshall that I personally really like and generally speaking I'd say a fast rod but with a little extra bend like a Victory or a Sierra does well with a spinnerbait.

I've got a 10' old town pdl that has 3 rod holders built in. I use the 2 on the left for my 'active' rods and the one on the right for my net. Then for a couple of more slots I tied a couple Yak-Gear Build-A-Crate Single Rod Holders to my crate that I've got tied down behind the seat. So it hold 4 total rods at the moment. Thought about adding more but 4 has been enough for me so I haven't gotten around to it. I also use a couple of these holders on the back of my crate to hold my kayak wheels so I don't have to take them apart and stow them in the front. Plus the front is where I put my battery for my hummingbird anyway...

Thanks didn't get that one but that got me looking and ended up grabbing a 7'6" Sierra for $106. There's some other pretty good deals on their site right now too...

Nah I just bring a few that I think would do well that day based on conditions, time of year, water clarity, etc. Then if one doesn't work I move on. But I don't know that I'd preemptively try to figure out what lures the bass have had enough of...seems like they have a way of proving me wrong enough as it is and if anything I'll try another brand / model out of curiosity but I imagine most of the fish in the places I fish get enough traffic that it wouldn't really matter what one angler decides anyway.
