  1. Mine may be the smallest lineup here so feel free to let me know if I have any glaring holes! Fx customs, 6’9, medium, extra-fast. Diawa tatula 7.1:1. 2. So I picked up a new rod for the year that I plan to use as a dedicated Squarebill/cranking rod. I went with a 7’0 Cashion Icon medium with a mod/fast action. I’m pairing it with My Daiwa Steez SV, but was curious what line I should use? I’m thinking perhaps 10 or 12 lb p-line. Is there a better option that I should consider? Thanks!
  3. Im purchasing a used pond prowler this weekend. Thought it would be fun for me and my son to get out and fish on. Plus, I convinced my wife that the reason I’m such a bad fisherman is only because I don’t have a boat
  4. I am looking to buy a tiny boat to do some fishing with my son. Considering the pond prowler 10. We fished from the bank all last year, but looking to do a bit more fishing this year!
  5. I have three ultralight rods, all of which are fast-action. For fun, I decided to test the action of each rod. I supported each rod handle on the floor and attached a 2-ounce weight to some line. I knew the results would vary, but I was still surprised by how different each rod handled the weight. By the way, I love all three of these rods, but they each handled the weight differently. 1. Dobyns Sierra trout and panfish, 6’2 (rod in the back) 2. St. Croix Avid panfish, 6’0 (middle rod) 3. St. Croix panfish, 6’0 (closest rod)
  6. Ya it’s a little confusing. They have a link to fill out and pay $35 for a shipping label… I would have thought they would have sent me a label to print out, however after I paid the $35, there was no follow up instructions. I am assuming they will perhaps mail me a shipping label, or email me one tomorrow?
  7. I emailed them and completed the return shipping label form plus payment (through a link Dobyns sent). I suppose now I will wait for them to send a shipping label for me to return the rod. Thanks!
  8. I purchased a Dobyns Sierra ultralight pole this week to use for crappie or just as a throw and go pole for local ponds. Was super pumped to try it out today for the first time, however when I went to set the hook on my first fish, the pole snapped in half about half way down the pole (was using 6 lb braid with a 4 lb leader)! This has to be a manufacturer defect correct? Maybe the pole had a small crack in the blank during shipping…Guess I’ll see how their warranty is this week!

My job makes it almost impossible to have a consistent sleep schedule. I woke up yesterday morning at 6:30 and I’m just now getting to bed for the night at 9:05am the next day. Throw kids into the equation and I’m lucky to find time to sleep at all! Im 41 now, and can pull it off with a red Bull or 2 each day, but I’m sure it will catch up with me somewhere down the line!
  10. Well it is last years model so it was on sale. I was actually just planning to get the zillion but when i saw the Steez was. 30% off at tackle warehouse i convinced myself to get that one lol.
  11. Has anyone used this castable fish finder? If so, do you find it beneficial ? I picked one up on sale last week, haven’t used it yet, but I’m hoping that it’s helpful when casting from the bank, specifically when fishing small ponds or lakes.
  12. Ok, so i think I’m set for fishing season! I’ve added 2 new bait casting rods to my arsenal. 1) an FX Custom Xtreme 6’9 M XF with a Daiwa Tatula for jerkbaits and 2) a St Croix Tournament 7’1 MH XF (thanks A-Jay!) with a Daiwa Steez SV TW reel as an all around rod.
  13. Welcome!
  14. I have been happy with my Legalis. 6.6 oz when spooled with 4 lbs. mono and doesn't seem to hold an excessive amount of line. Love the aesthetics of the reel (has paired well with my SC Avid Panfish) and how smooth the retrieve has been.
  15. I took my mom to Vegas to see him in December. I was surprised at how much energy he had when singing (he did take 1 break), and how good he sounded, but he didn’t look very good at all… so glad we went to see his last concert!
  16. I’m so sorry for your loss
  17. You’ll have to bring back a report!
  18. Has anyone had experience with the FX custom rods? Specifically their extreme line of casting rods. I would love opinions as it seems they are a lesser known company and t”it are difficult to find reviews.
  19. Thanks! Typically we fish small ponds and lakes around the area. Occasionally we go to Lake of the Ozarks or Mark Twain for the weekend. Not typically much grass cover. Mostly wood and rocks around the lakes. And almost exclusively bank fishing.
  20. As I mentioned in the introduction, I am relatively new to the fishing scene even though I am 40 yrs. Most of what I have learned about the hobby has been through youtube vids and online reviews. I currently have 3 rods and 2 reels. 2 of the rods are ultralight for panfish, I have 1 spinning rod for a ned rig, and I am thinking about adding a baitcasting rod (which I will have to learn to use) for crankbaits. Thoughts on the lineup are definitely appreciated! Current setup: St. Croix Panfish 6'0 ultralight St. Croix Avid Panfish 6'0 ultralight (received as a gift and looking to pair with my Daiwa Legalis 1000) St. Croix Mojo Bass 6'8 Medium, Extra Fast (paired with Daiwa Ragal 2500) Future Plans: St Croix Trigon Mojo Bass, 7'1 Medium, Fast (thinking about pairing with Daiwa Tatula MQ LT, not sure about the size) Thoughts? And should I be weighing other options that I have not considered?
  21. Hey guys! My name is Joe. I have never done anything other than fish recreationally a few times each year, and even then, it was mostly for different types of panfish around the area. However last summer my 8 year old son, decided that he wanted me to teach him how to fish. We didn't have much luck (again I'm not that good lol), however, I am committed to being more successful this year! Since this is a new hobby, I am hoping to find success from the bank.
