Toby Keith RIP

Featured Replies

Yea...just watched a piece on him this a.m.  I thought his cancer was in remission...he just did a concert in December (Vegas).  Sad...at only 62, another Oklahoma legend leaves too soon.

I am the least country music fan you’ll ever meet, but he is one of the few singers overall when signing about this country that it comes from the heart

Very Sad

I took my mom to Vegas to see him in December. I was surprised at how much energy he had when singing (he did take 1 break), and how good he sounded, but he didn’t look very good at all… so glad we went to see his last concert!

RIP Toby Keith. Thanks for the music, it will live on.

His song Red White and Blue meant a lot to me after 9-11. The way he supported our troops was awesome. He genuinely loved 🇺🇸 and was proud of it.

The song he did that always made me smile was “ I wanna talk about me”.

"Ask yourself how old you'd be

if you didn't know the day you were born.

Don't let the old man in".

RIP Sir

I remember exactly where I was when I heard that Elvis had died.  I will remember this day in much the same way.

Toby has left the building.

I like his music, RIP

I grew up to his music. I was a big fan and really appreciated how patriotic he was. Definitely does not seem to be the common theme amongst celebrities.

As a young Marine in the mid 2000’s,  a lot of the songs definitely were inspiring and hit home for sure.

Same. I just watched an interview the day before (seemed recent) and thought he was going to pull through. The next morning I heard the news on the radio. I’m really not the type to follow celebrities, care to meet them, get autographs, etc. but he was one I would have liked to meet for sure.

I heard a story on the radio yesterday about his song “angry American”. He wrote it to only sing on his USO tours and to only be performed for the troops. A high ranking Marine told him he needed to record it, so he did, released it and it was a huge hit.

That was the last song he performed and if you listen to the words I believe it was his way of letting everyone know his time was limited.

When ABC  was to air a "rally the troops' show after the start of the war, this was set to be the opening number until Peter Jennings.....a Canadian, vetoed it stating that it was inappropriate.

Inappropriate for whom, I wonder.
