  1. M/xf would be my preference and atleast 7ft. I throw them on a St croix LTB 7ft3 m/xf with 6-8lb mccoy mean green.
  2. Thanks for the warm welcome. If anybody ever wants to try the upper potomac some time shoot me a message. Always have room in the boat.
  3. I've owned a couple aluminum rigs over the years. Currently have an xpress h20bay and love it. Rides so smooth in rougher water compared to anything else I've owned. Tons of storage and plenty of power. Not as l fast as a 21ft fiberglass bass boat with a 300hp outboard but cruises in the low to mid thirties and tops out around 55mph with a 150hp outboard.
  4. I use mesh rod socks to keep tangle free while in the rod locker. Tried neoprene and hated it ,heavy stays wet and harder/slower to get on and off. I have one reel cover that stays on my daiwa zillion sv tw. It came with the reel or it wouldn't have one I take care of my stuff but a scratch or three from riding in the rod locker doesn't bother me they are just tools after all.
  5. I have echomap ultras not as familiar with the gpsmap units but they should all link and share the data off one card. As for the depth shading I don't know have you connected to wifi and updated them. Seems silly on new units but you would be surprised.
  6. I use a st croix 7'10'' ml x fast for exactly what you describe. Mine is a mojo trigon but they have it in the victory, LTB and probably a couple of their other line ups.
  7. I have 2 mojo trigon spinning rods and don't mind the grip. I much prefer nice cork like on the LTB rods.
  8. Garmins active captian app is quite usefull and will be needed to update your unit.
  9. Spinnerbait- Nichols shattered glass 3/8 Tube- dry creek tournement tube Senko Jerkbait- pointer 100 Topwater prop bait- lucky craft j kelly
  10. Ethanol free 90 is the same price as 10% ethanol premium 92 here.
  11. I switched to a off brand li-time lifepo4 for the 36v trolling motor. Running a single 36v 55ah last me all day. I got it last fall so we shall see how it holds up to heavy current this spring.
  12. St croix makes some 6ft8 med xfast rods throughout their lines.
  13. My xpress came with a transom saver so that's what I use.
  14. Spring is getting close in WV! My oldest son and I got the seeder hooked up to the tractor yesterday and calibrated it. I let him run it for 2 hrs to get a feel for it and make sure everything was working properly since lat spring. This weekend will be his first test of endurance I'm letting him overseed all the hay fields this year. It usually takes me about 12hrs to do it so he's got his work cut out for him.
  15. Weightless zoom flukes or keitech easy shiners cast tight to vertical rock faces at the waters edge after a warming trend. The rock faces really soak up the warmth. If you don't know where the wintering holes are might be able to find a couple trolling #5 shad raps.
  16. I have the "workhorse" paired to a daiwa zillion sv tw and it's my most used combo. Love the sensitivity and the build quality. I also have the "jerk" the " finesse carbon cranker" and in spinning the " power finesse". All great Rods and my personal favorite lineup but everybody's preferences are diffrent.
  17. I have Eerie for the boat our vehicles and our homeowners insurance. The boat is covered very well along with anything in it. I think It also carries something like 300k in property damage on the boat policy. I have a 15 year old that just got his boat lisc last fall so I made sure the boat was well covered.
  18. Congratulations! Wife and I went down to NC in the fall to look at some lots on hyco lake and Lake gaston. Will be going back down in spring to look at some on the chowan river/ albermarle sound. Trying to find one without an hoa so we can put a camper or tiny house on it isn't easy.
  19. I have never had luck with red crankbaits on any of the lakes I fish. Red is however one of my favorite colors on the river chasing smallmouths.
  20. I have a stick it but really only use it when anchored up catfishing. It works on my 20ft aluminum boat fine but I only use it to to keep the stern in place while running a anchor off the bow.
  21. We only ended up with about 4" of wet snow. Projected to be 57degrees tomorrow...
  22. We're suppose to get up to 8" of snow overnight In WV. I am sick of winter! The end is near though some of our pasture is turning green and the cows have started grazing again.
  23. That's the easiest part to change to your liking
