Where do you rank on the Angling Tech Scale (ATS) and why?
I'm gonna say a 6 1/2. ...20ft aluminum center console with a 150sho and a garmin 106sv and garmin force trolling motor. I enjoy catching fish but it's more about enjoying time with the kids more than anything. When they get older and move out maybe I'll up my game to a fancy glitter boat with ffs and start tournement fishing but I doubt it.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
Had a very windy day this week so we decided to just anchor and see if the channel cats were hungry.
-
Rebel Crawfish Cranks
These still produce for me on the upper potomac for smallmouth in the summer when the water is down.

Falling Overboard On Auto Pilot
My remote stays attached to me not sure how waterproof the garmin remote is but hopefully I'm reaching for the anchor button before I even hit the water lol

Anyone make a spinnerbait with a large colorado blade?
I run single and double 8s on inline spinners for musky. I've caught a few big smallmouth on them over the years while musky fishing. Hope he is using a good reel 8s and anything bigger will give it a workout.

Who felt the earthquake?
I was delivering a piece of heavy equipment we sold to its new owner in North East MD but with all the pot holes I didn't notice.

Three pluses and three minuses
Xpress h20 bay 150sho + sips fuel at cruising speed (32mph) + rides well in rough water + tons of storage - low speed handling - pricey for an aluminum rig - factory will let you order a ton of options then tie them all along with the outboard to a single battery ...mine came with a livewell pump ,baitwell pump, recirc pumps for both,10" chartplotter, 2 bilge pumps, hi pressure washdown pump, interior lights in all hatches and along gunnel and a 4 speaker 200watt radio all on a group 27 lead acid dual purpose battery.

Single Axel or Tandem Axel Trailer?
My boat is close to yours 1880lbs dry and I went dual axle. Add in a 150hp outboard, 4 group 31 batteries, 40 gallons of gas, 40 gallon livewell (we often fill at home with bluegills for catfish trips) fishing gear and coolers and it adds up fast.
-
Ethanol free gas vs. Regular with 10% Ethanol
They don't have to be all that big by comparison my little 150sho burns 15gph @ wot which is mid 50s in my rig. Dial it back to 30mph and it's 3.5gph. Wot runs are never very efficient.

Light crank/ jerk baitcaster.
I have large hands so I don't care for the 70 and 80 reels as much with the way I hold a rod so I've been using a curado 150mgl for small cranks.
-
Yes another question about a rod
St croix makes a 7ft 3 med xfast that would fit the bill. I have it in their legend tournement bass line but it's In others as well. They have a 7ft10 ml xfast that would work well for that too.

Are Tubes Still a Thing?
I couldn't imagine chasing smallmouth without tubes. Catch plenty of largemouth on them too. On the susquehanna and potomac a tube is probably my #1 lure.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Was going through my stuff and realized I needed a few things before pre spawn gets into full swing.
-
Why don't bass like the mud?
I have good luck In spring on mudflats on the river. Those spots warm up faster and attract the baitfish. The smallies usually follow.
-
Your Go-To Lure
5" black paddle tail senko t rigged weightless....doesn't matter the conditions always seems to work for both smallies and largemouth.

Your career paths
I worked for a horse fencing company as a teenager. Enlisted when I turned 18 and did 6 years active duty before switching to reserves and getting a gravy job with DOD providing security for a research facility. Got hurt on deployment in 2008 and spent a few years bouncing around hospitals and rehab facilities. Got my official retirement paperwork and pension from the military in 2013 at the ripe old age of 29. Now I raise cattle and grow hay. Didn't intend for the cattle thing to grow as big as it has I originally just wanted to raise enough to fill our freezer and maybe sell just enough to offset the cost. Now I have 35 head and a waiting list of cash paying customers wanting fresh beef. It's gotten hard for me to keep up with luckily my son's are getting older and starting to take over the chores.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Picked up a couple new Daiwa reels . The 1st a tatula mq lt spinning reel. The 2nd a tatula sv tws. Really happy with both so far the sv tws reminds me a lot of the zillion. Not quite as smooth or light though but not far off.

Towing capacity question
You sure your tow rating is correct? The wife has a 22 cherokee with the v6 and tow package it's rated 4k lbs. 3500lb seems low for a longer wheelbase vehicle.

Greetings from Wv
I live close enough to hear the shotgun range at sleepy creek. I won't take the new boat up there because of the roads but I still walk around it sometimes. Good crappie fishing and lots of bass but like you nothing over 3lbs. The grass and Lilly pads geat really thick in summer .

Greetings from Wv
Good to know thanks. Going to make sure to check that place out this year I need a few spots for day trips when river conditions are bad....like today
-
When should I be using fluoro?
I've switched to a copolymer and eliminated fluoro. Last year the river was the clearest I've ever seen and the smallmouth were skittish mccoy mean green worked just fine.

What other species has your attention?
