  1. I rarely fish in clear water so 1m long leader is usually what i've been using for a while.
  2. I don't believe that. When your reel wasn't that smooth from factory (aldebaran mgl 30 a good example of this), going to 85% of its smoothness might be even more noticeable, but the zillion i have was tuned to 12bb from the steez tw from day one, it's glassy smooth. Bet you if i were to service it, it would be back at being close to new, but was too lazy this year and skipped the cleaning earlier this year.
  3. Check the review. Few years back, it was pretty easy to find one in like new condition for under $130 on ebay and yahoo. It's harder now, but they do pop up, and for some reason in not very high demand so the bids don't usually go that high. https://www.tackletour.com/reviewscorpion1001xt.html
  4. With the tariffs, yes, it's not the $220 for a Zillion like i used to suggest everyone on here. I would go insane if i couldn't order anything here in Canada because the tariffs are out of this world.
  5. The best way to fix geary reels is to buy a daiwa with their new gear design. My zillion 21 has 4 seasons of intense use, haven't even serviced it since last year, and its still 85-90% as smooth as new, and is perfectly silent as well.
  6. I've gotta a few quality hooks off of aliexpress. Wasn't expecting much, but i've been using them for a few years now, cought muskies, sturgeons, etc, and they're great. But because of the tariffs, i assume they're not worth getting if you're in the US.
  7. Well, yea, and i've had plenty of them over the years. Never had an issue with a reel with a screw in side plate. They release the 18 ryoga, and the problems began. It's on daiwa trying to fix what doesn't need any fixing.
  8. For a round reel, the screw-in type palming side plate is a flawless design. Perfectly secure, ads rigidity, no slop. Why would anybody change this? I don't it.
  9. Btw i hope there's no megsealed bearings on the new ryoga.
  10. I know why you're saying it, the line guide is close to the spool, but i don't agree. Never have i felt like the original ryoga wasn't casting well. Would absolutely not want to see it, even if it didn't look like a deformed dinosaur.
  11. Glad they didn't ruin the Ryoga with a t-wing.
  12. I don't remember if the gears are made out of the same material, but everything else is indeed the same. Performance is indentical. In my opinion the green color on the Curados looks better, but considering how much more expensive they are, you might as well get a Scorpion, and do a custom paintjob on it. Will end up cheaper, and looks better in every way.
  13. Curado E lovers should get the JDM version scorpions. Way cheaper, exactly the same performance and easy to find.
  14. How dare anybody even believes that my bb Zillion could have issues from factory.
  15. The only time i gets broken in, is during shipping, when you get a three piece rod instead of a one piece one.
  16. Not my experience with any tats prior to digigear ones. Very smooth at first, but like most cheap reels, lose it pretty quickly.
  17. That depends what you consider as fine. From what i saw, they became way too noisy and grindy for my liking.
  18. I wonder how the 200 will survive over two season chunking glide baits and other large stuff.
  19. DC brakes patent have also run out, so expect daiwa to use em, and others use daiwa patented brakes. Not a bad thing tbh, competition on the same quality tech will only get us better products.
  20. I used to order from japantackle all the time. But ever since covid, he removed small packet airmail which was a pretty cheapo way of shipping, and now the only shipping option is through DHL, which is way overpriced. Haven't ordered a single thing since the change in ~2021.
  21. So glad we aren't dealing with this in Canada. A bit over a month ago i've ordered for around 140.000jpy of stock (rod, lures, a reel, etc) from Japan, and had to pay like $75cad in customs.
  22. You can't swap to a Tatula team when i've built my house on the Zillion team. When Daiwa wakes up, and puts back 34mm spools a normal zero adjuster in their Steez, i might move to that team, but they're a bit lost right now, so they might need to lose a bunch of sales on their Steez line before they change.
  23. I'd say that if you're someone who sees fishing gear as "tools", and you don't baby them, nothing high end is worth it. A $100 rod and a $200 reel is enough. Every person i know, or spoke to, if they don't take care of their stuff, they're the kind that wouldn't be able to tell a difference between a steez and a Tatula. Not everyone notices and cares about the smoothness and how silent high reels are. Same with rods.
  24. As a Tatutal hater since their introduction, the new tat100 and 200 are amazing for their price. And yes, their gears are as good as on the zillion, and the reason why they're this good. You can also see the gear price on PLAT, it's as expensive as on a zillion. Replace all bushing to bearings, and it's a Zillion 1.5.
